Goss was our best player today I thought. Wasn’t at St Mirren but today was a marked improvement from the two Sligo games. You’ve got to feel that with a new manager and approach to games, we’ll be better than St Johnstone come end of the season as I thought they were pretty shite all in despite scoring more than us.

Shout out to the bois for being utter morons again.

Here we go again… let the witch-hunt begin. Some of those tapping into a subject they know little of is beyond parody.

Must be great the life of an über fan especially in our our support.

4 of us were successful and 3 unsuccessful. Still waiting to hear on the other two.

Does suggest there was less demand than anticipated.

Flights were already booked out to Dublin and back from Belfast, from and to Edinburgh.

Hopefully we can take a decent lead to Ireland and make it a less stressful evening. But knowing Motherwell 🤔.

Around 1000 applications, spread roughly over 800 adult & 200 kids.

I often see Cornelius credited to Hibs’ academy but am sure he was actually with us first, went to Hibs for a year or two before returning to us. Bit of a moot point really but would like it if someone could corroborate so I know if I’m talking pish or not.

Talking pish I’m afraid. Mini Steelmen then Community where there was no pathway at the time.

I thought you'd have a good insight especially compared the majority of us. I take it what you're referring to is recruiting a mediocre player such as Amaluzor at the expense of one of our home grown getting onto the bench or even an 5 minute cameo. Of course you can't fully tell in July how a new acquisition will pan out over the season but it's the shunting down the pecking order that's the issue here?

I don’t think I do. Just personal opinion of the much heralded player pathway that I’m struggling with unless something evolves.

There are many variables, players developing at different stages, cut throat nature of the league & result driven business offers little game time. Lack of competitive development leaves our club amongst others hamstrung. Under 18’s forms the bulk of any reserves so their time is spent in preparation & recovery over being on a training pitch. Could well be a general malaise & for another debate.

I remain to be convinced our Head of Recruitment is offering value for money.

I don't think it's completely equivalent - but at our level, there is competition with other clubs to get the best prospects in the 'Shire and the "elite" academy stuff that we are part of is part of commodifying very young players in a way that never really existed in the past at our level. We must be targetting kids that are playing for other teams, whether that is school or boys club (and other "lesser" academies)

The main difference is that we are using a pretty targetted approach with the idea of bringing players to the first team - but the bigger clubs (especially down south) are using a huge drift net to get as many kids possible in the hope that a tiny percentage are good enough to play at the top level. The wastage rate of boys that get lost in that system must be incredible and you get the situation where clearly good players like Slattery have f**k all 1st team experience by their 21st birthday.

Overall, I find the idea that our best young players are off before their 16th birthday to be pretty depressing and it actually poses a threat to our business model as the chances of getting someone playing 50-100 games and being sold on for good money are reduced every time this happens.

All good points. From where I am, I Think there is a huge difference in how the club model looks and what it’s like in reality. High percentage of recruitment aligns with that.

With all this talk of former Motherwell players ending up in Paisley, it got me thinking about Las.

The chance of the gig there must have been floated about 3 months ago, 2 at the earliest based on when it first came to light in the press and on here. Obviously as part of the backroom team at Motherwell he would have been aware of targets we are chasing and negotiations. In his new role he has effectively got access to two scouting networks (albeit the new one seems to consist of "have you ever eaten at Upper Crust?").

Of course there will be some cross over as we exist in a place where we're chasing the same pool of players who would also consider a move to us and financially within our means. But Las certainly goes to his new job armed with a bit more info potentially to our detriment unless when he first discussed the move at FP he was either removed (or removed himself) from discussions of that nature or was included but an understanding not to pursue anyone who was floated. I don't know it would have been a tricky one to manage.

Just overthinking things a touch - answered your own question all the same…

I’ll be overjoyed if his espionage credentials see them sign Blair Spittal.

I was told this source was reliable (and therefore credible) in the past but I'm hearing this third hand. As I said, time will tell but I'm certainly not pretending to have inside information.

Fair enough & time will tell. Credibility usually found in not taken as fact and corroborated with others - it’s been silent on that front.

Not seeing what purpose it would serve at any rate.

Sadly back to your usual insults, you know nothing about me and what I know  and don’t know so again you can give that a rest If their parents sit among them and you sit “ casting an eye” you’re all doing a terrible job. I don’t care what you’re “privy to” a line you like to push that no one cares about. The facts are their behaviour is getting worse both home and away and it’s going to end up costing the club.

    Insults? Deary me.

Never said I know you, your  understanding easy to deduce from your statements.

Suggesting some parents are part of the make up in that part of the stand isn’t to supervise. Casting an eye over sees my kid and other members of family OK. Certainly same for many others not just in our circle.

line I try to push? Behave. Information freely given and easy to corroborate with other platforms. As for no one cares, you then post it on an open forum…

Not hiding from any behaviours, no worse than many I’ve seen home or away since fans returned. Whataboutery maybe, levels up any argument.

Care to expand on how behaviour is going to end up costing the club? Strict liability having been voted against?

I think you need to give it a rest before you make a bigger fool of yourself.

Wind your neck in. Privy to information  from those that matter and not just what I witnessed.

Again, tapping into a subject you know little of.

Took a check of your takes yesterday and you question parents - crass comment as there’s a few sit amongst them and plenty who (myself included) sit in the next section along casting an eye over them.

There was wrongdoing, that’s without question, there is little deterrent. Closing the area potentially shifts a problem elsewhere and can’t see that being the course of action. All the distrust with security officer and his obvious police links have resulted in failed court proceedings as they have difficulty in proving offences.

Answer not to be doing nothing, an element of self policing as they have done before. Club reaction could be telling. It’s difficult though.

We’ll, that’s just made up shit. What actually happened was that very early in the second half Calvin Ramsay had to stretch to clear the ball into the stand from an onrushing Motherwell player, and the ball hit somebody in that little group of thugs in the face, and the whole of that section took offence.

By the way, why did 20/30 of that group run on to the pitch towards the celebrating Aberdeen support “looking” for a fight after the opening goal. Not seen that type of shite for about 40 years.

    Thugs? Behave yourself.

There was afters to that challenge and there was wrongdoing - I certainly ain’t defending that.

As for the last part - bit more to it but, I’m not on to do Officer Dibble’s job. Certainly seeing instances the length and breadth of the country since fans have returned.

Least they've learned not to hold onto the ball at a throw in. Especially when losing as only a complete weapon would think that was ever a good idea

Not condoning but but but 😂

Hold the ball at a throw in? Deary me, at the time there were supplementary balls pitchside. Looking for something that isn’t there.

No buts from me - the opposition player not squeaky clean so rightly mentioned.
