  1. I'm guessing something along the lines of Rae Gibson / East / Debayo / Cooper Nditi / McGrory / Todd Connelly Roy / Junior That bench though
  2. Queens played out a goalless draw with PNE at Palmy on 1/8/1970. Team was Allan Ball, Graham McEwan, Hugh McLean, Jim Kerr, Colin Scott, Iain McChesney, Joe Sloan, Donnie McIntyre, Keith Houliston, George Dickson & Sammy Murray. Jim Donald came on as a sub for McIntyre. This was Chopper Dickson's debut in a Queens shirt btw. I must point out that I don't recall the game (I wasn't there - I was six months old at the time(!)), I just have the stats for most Queens friendlies on file!
  3. We should be considering extending contracts, but that requires forward thinking which isn't something our board is famous for. I guess as well both players and club will want to know what division we are playing in next season before they commit to anything. That said, I haven't changed my opinion (yet) on what I posted a few pages back, ie Cochrane, Cowie, Paton & Chima (assuming he isn't a figment of our imaginations) should be here anyway given their current contract status and Rae, Gibson, Nditi, Connelly, Todd, East, McGrory & Dunn should be offered extensions. ETA has anyone heard anything on the grapevine as to whether or not McKechnie will be staying beyond this week?
  4. If it was just down to financial backing Hamilton would be strolling this league given that they're being bankrolled by a Nigerian Prince. Oh, wait a minute...
  5. This. We already have Cochrane, Cowie, Paton and the invisible man Chima for next season, and of those you have listed I'd definitely like to see McGrory, Gibson, Todd and East offered extensions asap. I'd like to see Josh Rae and Scott Dunn given extensions too. Obviously it's a given that we should be throwing everything we can at Connelly to try and persuade him to stay but I expect him to follow Shields and Ayo to the Premiership. Nditi has gone off the boil lately but if he can regain his early season form he would also be an asset. Cooper as you say would be a risk so maybe safer options will become available in the summer. McKay I'm easyosy about, similarly Roy who AJ clearly doesn't seem to rate at the moment. I wouldn't be too bothered if either stayed beyond the summer or not. I can't see much benefit to the club or McKechnie if he stays beyond the New Year, which leaves Debayo, Fitzpatrick, Junior, McMahon and especially Joseph who for me are no more than squad players. It will be interesting to see how much I revise my opinions come next May!
  6. Well done to all involved with Arbroath! The best footballing team in the division by a long chalk with the best management team - as they say, the table doesn't lie. I have my fingers crossed that you can go on and do "a Leicester". Merry Christmas to all Lichties!
  7. Cameron having his best game for us by a long way. Amazed to see Salkeld still on the pitch. Ayr fans have every right to be livid.
  8. Todd has strolled it. The only player to underperform has been Paton. In all honesty though we've not had to do much to be 2-0 up. I'm still unconvinced by Gibson at CB. I'd rather he went to RB, Nditi to CB and Johnston to midfield.
  9. That's been coming. Still plenty of time to fook this up though.
  10. Debayo returns then. Stick on goal for Ayr if you've been practicing penalties.
  11. Hmmm... not sure about the "interesting" part! To me it reads like a War and Peace length epic self-congratulatory backslapping exercise which does nothing to address any of the issues which actually matter to the average supporter like myself. The board apparently are of the opinion that matters on the park "could be healthier" but no indication is given as to what they consider to be "healthy". What are their targets for the rest of the season? What is deemed to be an acceptable performance level? The only reason/excuse for the poor results and run of form which has dragged on for the best part of 2 years (barring a nine game "blip") is a recent run of injuries particularly to defenders. Nothing to do with retaining an inept manager, questionable team selection or tactics. Anyway, now that team performance has been glossed over lets move on to the pitch and it's "best test results so far" surface all lit up with our nice new LED floodlights. Who are they kidding? It's a worn out rug which draws criticism from all those who have had the misfortune to witness the football played on it. Are they honestly kidding themselves into thinking we have a surface comparable to that at, say, Starks Park?! Also, the decaying stadium can't be improved with even a lick of paint, or removal of moss from the stand roof because of the board have ploughed all available finances into assembling the team of galacticos who dazzle us more than the lights do as they strut their stuff to such great effect on the park, apparently. Finally, it's all very well endlessly trumpeting the amount of involvement that our reserve and youth players have with local schools, but let's face it, the schoolkids aren't going to be tempted through the turnstiles after a couple of lads (who are so distant from the first team that even your diehard supporter would have difficulty recognising them on the street) have put them through their paces for a couple of hours if the overall impression of the club is that of one that is happy to cling onto Championship survival year in, year out. The most obvious way to attract the local youngster is to get a winning team on the park, not to send a couple of 17 year olds round schools for a kickabout once a week. By all means click on the link or visit the OS if you want to read an overlong, wordy epistle with an underlying message of "don't worry, be happy with what we give you and shut the f*** up", otherwise don't waste your time.
  12. I agree with you regarding Brynn, but it seems to be the case that AJ wants to develop our loan signings to help out their parent clubs ahead of giving our own players much needed game time. Cameron will always be picked ahead of Roy or Junior, Liddle ahead of McGrory when fit, Johnston ahead of everyone and anyone regardless of form or ability - even CR7 at his peak would struggle to get a game ahead of Johnston. Just another example of the damage being done to the club while AJ's at the wheel.
  13. Despite our defensive set piece frailties I have to say that East was superb today. You couldn't ask for more from a guy who only found out he was in the starting line-up a few minutes before kick-off and who has only played half a dozen games in the back line in his career. If AJ persists in playing Nditi as a defensive midfielder I'd be more than happy for East to take his place at centre-back. ETA especially if he keeps Debayo out.
  14. He still hasn't noticed that Paul McKay has never set foot on the pitch.
  15. If we do score I very much doubt it will be through Cameron. He's everywhere on the pitch except the Pars penalty box.
  16. Jesus wept. Brynn moved the wall over to create the gap for Kennedy to shoot through. He's a good stopper but he can't position a wall to save himself.
  17. McKay must have injured himself in the warm up. Do any of our players ever get injured in matches? Always seem to be picked up in a training situation.
