That was my assumption as well.
Would suggest that Shaughnessey, Tait and Flynn are to be released. Perhaps Henderson as well.
Had heard that Flynn would move onto the coaching staff at the end of the season, but not seen it mentioned anywhere.

yes 8 man defense 1 striker and a goalie makes 10 in total. The eleventh member of your team was in the bath for approx 80 minutes. Now that makes 11 players the last time I looked that is the required number for a game of football.
Nae bother Ted Lasso.

His set pieces are atrocious as well. Either straight into the keepers hands or can't beat the first man.
If Tanser’s one big strength is crossing/corners then he’s fucked! Think Ethan took corners at the last home game, so he’s been pumped from them too.
Wouldnt be shocked to see another LWB come in.

Richard Taylor confirmed on deal until end of season. 6'3" left-sided defender.
Chance to put some pressure on ‘Chilli D’ and potentially replace him if he delivers. Seems like a decent bit of squad management.

Jim Goodwin will come good.
Needs to change the formation. His record playing 352 was garbage - the moment he switched from that, we went on a decent run and Aberdeen appointed him.

On another topic, I noticed the Aberdeen no 3 McKenzie had huge rips in his socks at the back, doesn’t have particularly huge calves so does anyone know what this is all about, do Aberdeen have a mouse/ moth problem or does McKenzie need his nails trimmed?
He nearly needed a pair of suspenders to keep them up.

Erhahon will be away. Gogic will be moving back into midfield, meaning we’ll need another CB for cover.
More thinking Joe away and it’s a direct replacement for him.
Ethan goes, Gogic steps in and hopefully means Reid gets a bit more game time.

Interesting one. 21, not really featured for Celtic but circa 50 games at League 1 level in England.
Guessing it’s a potential Baccus/Ethan replacement if they go in Jan.

I do find myself wondering what the Rangers kit man makes of all this.
Just spoke to him on the ferry there. Said Nacho Novo is in training with us.

Would it ? Aye so it would like Goodwin going to Aberdeen or Sunderland with Jack Ross.
They don’t announce “we have a shortlist and plan to interview x, y and z.”
They may make an official approach and both clubs announce that, like Ross and Goodwin.

I see Luton Town have confirmed Robinson is on their short list of 3.
No, a journalist has.
would be a strange move for a club to announce a managerial shortlist!

Other than Thommo have we ever had a striker that was universally loved?
Obika, post that goal, comes closest...

It's one of the weaknesses of the three at the back system Robinson is wedded to. The full backs have attacking duties too, and are regularly caught out of position because of it. There must have been three or four times in the first half alone that they got in behind Strain last night because he was too high up, none of which led to any real chances thankfully. When they do get themselves in a position to defend they aren't doing it properly, fatigue from all that running up and down the touchline or just a bit pish? A mix of both, probably.
After the winter break I'd like to see us try a back four again, with a right and left back who's primary job is to stop crosses into the box. Stop giving up so many cheap goals and see where it takes us. Eight goals conceded in three games against Hibs, County and St Johnstone is shockingly poor.
We don’t have a true left back and not seen Strain play there before. Would mean players coming in and I just don’t see us doing that.
For all the system can be blamed, it’s individual errors that cost the equaliser. Too much fannying about, trying to waste time then not closing the cross down that led to the goal. Individuals need to take responsibility.
Plus, Clark could attempt that another hundred times and not score.

Neither Strain or Baccus made the Australia WC squad.
Behich of DU and Atkinson, Rowles and Devlin of Hearts made it.
Didn’t think it’s was being announced until tomorrow (early hours our time)?

I notice that ex Saintyboy Anders Dreyer scored both goals as Midtyjland beat Sturm Graz in the Europa League tonight.
Underrated player by many during his short stint. The old ‘didn’t run about enough’ brigade…
Pretty sure he had a great assist record with us, or as great as we could ever hope for at that point.

To be honest, I'm more annoyed about this than what may or may not be going on with our former chairman.
Ask anyone involved with any committee - be it a sports club, gala, PTA, whatever - and they'll tell you one of the biggest problems is getting new members on the committee, particularly younger ones. We had not one, but two, younger guys willing to come on board and they were the only two not to get one of the posts. It may be their age had nothing to do with it but it's a bit disheartening for them and any other younger folk that want to get involved. Also means a whole generation of support has no representation on SMiSA- although not as bad as having no women on the board, which is the case with the club and, it seems, now SMiSA.
Would have also have been good to get some fresh faces involved - regardless of their age. I'm sure the four involved will do a good job, but they're all guys who have been involved with the club/SMiSA/whatever before so I can't see much fresh thinking coming from them.
It’s interesting that there wasn’t anyone in the 30-40 age bracket. Not that I’d have put myself forward, but is it just a time thing, e.g. young families, career, etc?

I’d be pretty disappointed to see him become involved. Chapsticks has summed it up - a lot of good for the most part, but ran out of ideas and soured the relationship. Argentine investors. Tommy Craig. Etc etc.
Clearly, BAWA populated with those with a SG leaning. Even Demented Zebra has talked stuff and said it came from a former board member…not difficult to see where the rumours are coming from.

Out of interest, plus reading the rabble on BAWA, when are the accounts due?
If all is as bad as claimed, will we have our own version of the Rangers “big hoose must stay open” guy?

He’s a better CB than either of those two. It’s his pace that’s keeping him out of the team.
Yeah, but we play a back 3 now. It’s a different argument if we are playing a 4, as he’s probably going to play in that.
it doesn’t work in a 3 though, given what I said about being able to step forward with the ball, etc.

A tag harsh, imo.
For me, it's an easy argument that he deserves a place, not saying that argument will win but it's a very easy argument to make. As for it being an usual managerial decision, don't go with that. This was the captain, a player like across the fanbase and a player who had put in multiple MotM performances last season. To drop that sort of player is definitely not usual.
Now to be fair, it's worked out for Robinson, but it doesn't leave any less of a bit of a bad taste in the mouth seeing Shaughnessy confined to the bench.
We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, and Shaughnessy looked motivated in his short cameo the other week, but ultimately if Robinson had made his mind up, he should have shifted him out during the Summer, as come this window he'll be able to sign a PCA, and we'll lose any possible transfer fee. I would be stunned if he's still around come February, which is a shame considering how much he has benefited the team over the years. As for where, you'd have to look at St Johnstone and/or Aberdeen due to previous stints at both, and looking at both he would add to their respective teams.
‘A bit of a bad taste’ is a bit over the top. He’s been a good servant, but Gallagher is an improvement on him and Joe can’t play the other two CB slots as well as Fraser or Dunne.
Dunne gives the balance as he’s left sided and Fraser can step forward and support Strain, something that’s been effective this season. With the greatest of respect to Joe, he just doesn’t offer that.
The question yesterday was Gogic or Joe. Clearly, with the investment in Gogic he’s going to be ahead of him.
