  1. Massive improvement from a couple of weeks ago. Reid and Bannon seemed comfortable, Jarrett was impressive, Longridge again excellent, and a generally good shift from everyone. Paton needs a kick up the arse for missing three sitters. Not good enough.

Adeloye is possibly the worst footballer I've ever seen score against us.

No bookings for Thistle? Graham was doing his best to referee the game and if he actually had the whistle and playing, he'd have felt obliged to book at least Williamson.

Two points dropped but a big improvement.

  2. I think we need to sort out the men's team before we tackle any professional status for the women's team. It's a tad challenging at the moment, and that's without considering the potential loss of Beuker. Let's not forget, we're running a fully professional first team squad and a massive youth set up via one man's philanthropy on a home support of about 700.

Unless someone comes in with a big wad of cash to fund the women's team and that allows us to support them adequately to compete with, at least, the semi-professional sides, I can't see us going down that road. I'm not being all "yer da" here, I'm just trying to be realistic. It would be absolutely terrific if we could try to emulate what we're doing with the men's side, and this would complement that setup beautifully, but we would need another Willie Haughey to do that.

I’d look at it differently. Rather than bringing in guys who may or may not be good enough from other academies, have three or four experienced heads instead.

I get where you're coming from but I'm shuddering at the thought of some of the experienced heads kicking about - John Hughes, Jim Duffy, Billy Dodds etc etc!

If Beuker does go, the next appointment is going to be even more important than his, I reckon. As I've said, I'd be concerned about Haughey upping sticks if we decide not to keep the Beuker momentum going. And if Beuker goes, does he take some of his team with him? "Challenging" times.

  4. It's obviously an incredible opportunity for Beuker but I'd be really disappointed if he left. He's moved over here with, you would think, a blank canvas to convert an amateur side into a decent first level outfit, with full control. How much is there still for him to try out? Does he feel that he's done enough to consider his time a success, or will the Ajax offer be all the reassurance he needs? Our lack of auld heid signings suggests that he has a strong regard for his plan. Will he be given such a platform at Ajax? I can't imagine that he'll have the same power.

It seems a done deal but I'm still hoping that he sticks with us. He's a young guy; if he makes QP a success story only using young players, it'll be a little short of a miracle and fair bumps up the value of his CV and future worth.

  5. The Tizzard substitution seemed brutal at the time but might not have been so bad if he didn't have to walk round the park. But remember Cammy Bruce being totally overwhelmed at Firhill; he should probably have been hooked much earlier. There is maybe a place for replacing younger guys earlier in certain situations. Veldman has been getting absolute pelters recently; despite us playing well, we give away that goal. I can understand him acting decisively.

The guys go into training the day after games; I'm sure it'll all be hammered out, including the stupid red card. Tizzard shows real promise; he'll bounce back.

  6. Significant improvement last night. A lot of misplaced passes certainly, but the conditions were challenging to say the least.

Spong's tackling is as good as I've seen; Ferrie again outstanding and I felt the defending in general was up a notch. Paton showed real aggression and he might well be what I'd hoped he would be.

There was a definite glimmer of hope there.

A defeat at Airdrie and this can’t go on. Can have all the grand plans in the world, but if it’s tanking on the field at first team level, the whole thing falls apart.

Willie Haughey is managing a Celtic select at St Roch’s today. A conversation with Neil Lennon wouldn’t be out of the question.

Aye, Neil Lennon is a real winner.

It's actually only nine games since some people were telling Coyle to f off back to India. How many games do we give managers at QP nowadays before we chase them? Is it six, seven?

"why would you want to leave a big club to go to Ajax who are in relegation trouble!”

Has he not looked at the league table recently?

It's an outstanding quote. Hopefully Beuker, who is still a very young guy and has time to go to Ajax or wherever if he does a good job at Queen's, stays with us. If he goes, I do feel we're doomed.

Football clubs are vanity projects for rich men (our previous owner included). The idea that any of them are doing it to get a warm glow from seeing the fans happy is birthday caird pish.

We're in the fortunate position of having the costs covered. Willie Haughey doesn't need to be concerned with the minutiae of keeping the punters happy, but we have people who should have that on their agenda. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it that we're where we are and I appreciate it, but there's plenty that could be done fairly easily to make the day at the football better.

Paton absolutely wasted in this team. That chance in the first half shows he’ll get goals if you get him servic

Falkirk away about the worst possible game for us at the moment.

    Pish.

Anyone, home or away, is the worst possible game for us at the moment.

Concerning that both Thomson and Hepburn came off. Both were whacked a couple of times and I reckon neither substitution was tactical.
