Relegation thread - who's going down?
madton replied to AUcal's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Just like the Pars this season.... -
Huge game this. Queens have improved dramatically since going 15 without a win and have found some right good form under Davidson. A win for Queens and they are back in the playoff mix, a win for us all but kills their chances of catching us. With Airdrie and Ayr playing each other, it's a right good chance for us to cement 4th place with a win. A draw there would be ideal. As long as we have no injuries, I fully expect the same 11 who have started the last few games. Expecting a much larger travelling support than last time too after Greenock was in flood lockdown. 1-2.

We don't even need .them as seperate areas. Just sell it as we always do and allow men, women and children access to the toilets and pie stall as we've always done. if it's pishing down and people get wet in Sinclair Street end because the cowshed is full, so be it, they'll get wet just like the 3000 Hearts fans. It wasn't an issue in big games against KIllie, DU,Peterhead, Stranraer, St Mirren etc so shouldn't be an issue now.

That would be class Capacity would need to be more than 6.7k for that one!

Made decent money from being in the quarters already too. 102k- minimum prize money. 48k- 2 TV games( believe all 4 quarter finals are on TV) Gate money last night- 40k estimate. Nearly 200k with gate money from quarter final game to come. For me, home tie avoiding Rangers, Celtic or Hearts and we have a decent chance. Expect us to get an away tie though after 3 home games.

I'm not convinced. Certainly not significant IMO. They brought some unknown lower league players from down south. Aye Mcgeady will be on a decent wage but he also has a staff position Jamie Murphy prob on similar wages on Alan Power, experienced players dropping down. Are Mcginty and Musonda paid significantly more than Baird/O'connor? What makes you think its significantly more? You may be right and we'll never know for sure. I just look at the two squads and think it can't be that different. We will be paying guys like Mcdonald ,Waters, Power, Strapp, Wilson, Crawford, Oakley, Muirhead, Blues etc decent Championship wages especially after some of their performances last season and signing new deals in the Summer. They have used the loan market a lot more than us right enough.

Being a Bellshill Morton fan I know how painful the roadworks are approaching Cappielow. Sometimes it's back to Port Glasgow and its a good 15-20 mins delay. Add in the Fri night rush hour traffic on the M74 and M8, give yourselves plenty of time getting down. I also park on Douglas Rae Road across the street but can get busy quite early. Pottery St or Gibshill Road are only a few mins walk and will get you away quickly too.

4126( Jan 18) 4661 ( Aug 17) both against St Mirren. Think we've a decent chance of beating or at least getting close to the 4.1k one. It's a shame the days of pulling 4-5k home fans, thinking Killie 2007 when the crowd was 6.6k, appear to be gone. We ironically then took around 4.5k fans to Motherwell in the next round.

Aye another couple of wins before we can claim safety. If those wins come in the next two games against QP and Airdrie, we will be looking very good for a top 4 finish going into the final third. -

Please stop.... -
Looking at Motherwells form, 1 win in 19( NINETEEN) league games, how on earth is Kettlewell still in a job? Becoming more and more confident about Friday now which will prob end up with egg on my face ( kirk Broadfoot pun intended) Hope we do ourselves justice with the country watching.

This has been covered on this thread previously. He came to us after not playing for a few months so took time to get up to speed. In his last 6-8 games for us, he was good (not amazing)and most would have been happy for him to stay. He's dropped a level so not surprised he's doing well. Will be interesting to see If he can maintain those numbers if you lot finally make it back up.

Seen a couple of people say we expect 1 in the door but I've also seen the source so taking that as a bag of shite. Have we ever had a Jan window with no incomings? Can't think of any recently certainly and I'm not even that fussed. Aye a striker to help George would be welcome but apart from that, the team is in good shape. We've seen players come in during Jan and failed to make an impact. Guys like Ali Crawford, Ally Roy, Sterling, Colin McMenamin etc so if Dougie can't find anyone to improve the squad, I'm happy to go with what we've got and give some of the current squad improved deals if we have spare funds.

Garrity was the one that always impressed me the most when coming through with Lyon, McGrattan et al and its great to see him continue that development. Dougie clearly trust Blues, I just think we should be playing him in the middle, competing with Crawford, WIlson, Power and Gillespie. His best games for us have been in the middle of the park. If that means some bench time and not playing every week, so be it and I say that as a big Blues fan. However fully get he does a job on the right hand side and his game intelligence will generally see him through games. No-one has really been consistent enough to take that position from him either but will be interesting to see what Dougie does if Garrity continues to impress like he did on Saturday. Right now, he's a good option to have off the bench.

The first game 2 kids were on the bench to make up numbers so had 5 first team squad members on the bench. Second game, 1 kid on the bench so again 5 first team squad subs. Neither kid has kicked a ball in the league for us. On the game, we need to be looking to win this IMO. Pars struggling, no wins in 6, key players out and bound to be low on confidence albeit thatvwas a good result yesterday. If we do get the 3 points, it makes it extremely difficult for them to grab 4th place. A point wouldn't be the worst result and would at least keep the run going but quietly confident of 3 points. 1-2.

Don't worry, the feelings mutual! Least it's at Cappielow and we will fancy our chances of an upset. -
Greenock Morton v Montrose Scottish Cup Round 4
madton replied to vikingTON's topic in Domestic Cup Football
He's hardly kicked a ball this season, needs time to get back upto speed after being injured most of the season. Look how rusty Wilson was in his first few games back and now look at him. -
I think we offered 1 year, you offered 2. He had apparently agreed to sign for us. I'm sure our local rag reported it but his agent changed goalposts last minute and understandable if he got a better deal with you. I had no doubts he'd be very good in league 1.

Aye, once on the last game of the season when Callum Waters and Lewis Strapp was injured! He played on the wing every other game. If your source is your Morton supporting mate, he's talking pish! Miller was a bit rusty when he first came in, understandably so when he was out for months beforehand, but the last few months of last season he was good once he got upto speed and most Morton fans were disappointed to see him go. If your source is your Morton supporting mate, he's talking pish again. Nesbitt was hot and cold with us, sometimes brilliant, other times, waste of a jersey! I'll let your Morton supporting mate off with that one as Nesbitt certainly divided the Morton support.
