  1. Suggest you listen to the recent BBC sounds podcast with Dougie which confirms the target was absolutely the playoffs inside the dressing room. Dougie admits he down played that target with the media to keep the pressure off but top 4 was the aim which makes complete sense with where we were at Xmas.
  2. King is only 18 and still very raw so could argue it would be 4 established midfielders and that's assuming Low actually signs. We got a tad lucky this season that Gillespie, Crawford and Blues never picked up any real injuries and played pretty much every week. I'd personally get King out on loan to a league 1 team( QOTS maybe) and bring 2 new midfielders in.
  3. On Low, heard from few different people that there's a good chance of it happening this summer, time will tell I guess. Decent competition if we do sign him, would give us Gillespie, Crawford, Blues, Low and King for those middle 3 positions with maybe space for 1 more. I'd love us to bring in a Tidser type, hard to find I know but he could put his foot on the ball, spray it about and control games with ease. Maybe Low can do that..
  4. We were in for Todorov this season but deal never materialised. I doubt we would go for him now as we have a very similar player in Oakley and of course Muirhead. Think we do need a striker for next season but more of a pacey, poacher type with good movement. If Dougie can find the Scottish Championship Kyogo, that would be grand.
  5. Not sure from our perspective. We all liked McAdams first time around but Dougie won't know much about him, if at all. Millen did work with him for a short spell before he left though. He was good for us no doubt, but always felt there was something missing in his game, was never 100% convinced by him. Similar feeling to Schwake this season, perhaps its their age and lack of game experience. Decent keepers absolutely but I felt more confident with Jack Hamilton in goal last season and would rather him back than McAdams. If Hamilton go down, I can see us trying to get Fulton, Dougie has talked him up recently, but he is in contract until next Summer. What we do need next season is 2 competent keepers. For the last few seasons we've either had just 1 keeper on the books or 1 competent keeper and a raw 18 year old boy who is nowhere near ready for Championship football and just sits on the bench every week. Schwake has had his moments this season but no one there to take his jersey.
  6. Enjoyable read this and thats with no one mentioning Louis in the Port, the best chippy on the planet.! Anyway, mon the draw!!
  7. Just get your point tomorrow lads and put your feet up next week..
  8. Find it quite incredible that the SPFL have got involved here. The old firm( cue the celtic fans) have went from 7000 to 0 and the authorities wouldn't dare tell them what to do. Quite simply, there should be a rule allowing the away team X percent of the ground capacity ( say 10%) like we have for cup games but no rule exists and if QP want to restrict the amount of away fans, that's entirely up to them. Rangers restricted the amount of Celtic fans in their ground to try and give them an advantage, QP had every right to do the same for me. FWIW, I think the league will be over before next Fri in any case.
  9. Gaston Grimshaw Baird Holt Milne Dempsey Boateng Savoury Connolly Akinyemi Thomas. Akinyemi clear POTY.
  10. Much rather Inverness and Ayr get pumped rather than draw! Don't think Dougie will sway too much from the starting 11 last week. With Raith having nothing to play for, hopefully their players are already thinking about their Summer holidays. With 2 hard games for Inverness and Ayr at the weekend, we simply must get 3 points here. and hope results go our way. If they do, the league could be looking a lot better from our perspective come Sat night, with Inverness still to play Ayr on the last day. 3-0.
  11. Play like we did second half and we can absolutely get something here. Dundee haven't played well against us this season. Was 2 going on 5 or 6 tonight, chance after chance, corner after corner( 15 in total). It felt very similar to the Arbroath away game. Not surprised Dundee put 7 past them. Not won at Dens since Dec 2011, albeit only 7 games since then. If we can manage to get a win here, we are right back in the hunt, especially with Thistle playing Ayr. Inverness look to have a banker 3 points against Cove right enough. Think it will prob be another draw ( 5 of the last 7 have been draws) which doesn't really help either side.
  12. Aye 2 yellows in the same game means an immediate 1 match suspension.
  13. We've been saying for weeks now that games were must win but this one really is to keep the playoff hopes alive. If we win, we still have half a chance with winnable games against Raith(h), Cove(A) and dare I say bottle merchants Queens Park at Cappielow too. Think most of us will agree on what the team should be but let's be honest, Ali Crawford will start. Shame Oakley is out but I'm sure Muirhead will step up and perform through the middle. Quitongo and McGrattan either side would be magic. Hoping for an inspiring win which allows us to go to Dens with a bit of confidence and pick up something. 3-1.
  14. An 18 year old boy who's never played a competitive game is the other option. Schwake has generally been OK this season but not great. Doubt we will be interested in keeping him and will be looking for a new number 1( and 2) next season.
  15. Aye no doubt we beat Accies on Tues to give us a bit of hope, at least until next Saturday.
  16. Feels a bit like the last game at Cappielow. The away team going into it on a bit of a downer thinking their season is all but over with very few fans thinking they would pick up 3 points only to walk away a convincing win. I'm hoping Sat has the same outcome. Fail to win and it's all but over for us and it will be a rather disappointing end to the season after being in and around the top 4 for much of the season. 3 wins in our last 14 league games is simply not good enough. Only 3 wins on the road all season too. Ayr looked poor against Arbroath whereas we battered them for pretty much 90 minutes so that's giving me an ounce of hope. Incredibly, the playoffs are still in our own hands, if that is still the case come Sat night, I'll be delighted.
  17. You're in good company, Queen Park, Dundee and Cove haven't beat us either. On the flip side, Arbroath have only won 5 games all season, yet we have failed to beat them in 4 attempts. Ayr the only other side we haven't taken 3 points from.
  18. Big game for both clubs, Morton need a win to get our playoff push back on track. Not won in 4( albeit only 1 loss in 8 ) and with Thistle playing Cove, we really need 3 points here. If we do, it all but kills Caley's faint playoff hopes. They would be at least 7 points off 4th with 6 games to play and a worse goal difference than both Morton and Thistle. A draw doesn't really help either team so expect an open game. I'd like to think Quitongo is not far away, we really miss his pace and directness but if not, I'd expect the same team as Arbroath after playing so well. There will be calls ( again) for McGrattan to start but Dougie has had plenty of chances of late and he remains on the bench so would be surprised if that changes on Sat. We've had the better of Inverness all season and should go into this with confidence. We absolutely battered Arbroath in our last game and on another night we score 4 or 5 easy. Play like we did last Friday and I'm confident we win this. Oakley not playing against Inverness was strange last time out. i know Dougie came out and said he had personal issues to deal with but i just wonder if an agreement was in place that Inverness only release him if he didn't play against us in that game. You'd imagine he was desperate to play to get it right up Dodds. I'm sure he's looking forward to Saturday. 2-0. Oakley double.
  19. Spot on, can't be picking and choosing stadia depending on what league you are in. Lesser Hampden is meant to be ready any week now. If they go up, they should be playing there next season and the big teams will just need to accept they only get 500 aways tickets. Old firm fans will be used to that for away trips in Glasgow anyway. Sense the powers that be will allow them to use Hampden though and they will make an absolute fortune from it.
  20. Can't speak for others but I'm pretty convinced McGinty got himself sent off for us in the last game of the season a few years back when both of us and Arbroath were fighting to stay up and both needed a win. He had of course signed/agreed a pre contract with Ayr so would naturally want you lot to stay in the division over us. Can never prove it of course and it could be absolutely pish but it was the most ridiculous challenge on the half way line and there was no reason for him to do it. Thankfully we won the playoffs anyway, but interestingly he never played any further part in the playoffs after serving the suspension, despite playing almost every game previous, he sat on the bench for the final 2 games. On your last point, aye pretty much. Ali Crawford was coming off the bench at St Johnstone most weeks so Dougie has probably promised him starts with us to get him here. He is naturally going to try and fit in his new signings like most managers do. Grimshaw has played full back most of the season and been brilliant but stepped into midfield when Gillespie got injured and was brilliant in there too. We've had a balanced team the last few months with Quitongo and Mcgrattan providing pace, a threat going forward and defensive cover but Dougie has changed things to accommodate Muirhead and Oakley the last few games and it just doesn't work as well. Having those two up there just encourages long ball after long ball and the one thing McGinty can do well is head a ball I think we will see a different shape and line up on Saturday. Hopefully Quitongo is back, badly missed.
  21. Very frustrating that. Dougie knew it didn't work on Sat and went with it again,l. It needs to go back to a 433/4231 which involves one of Muirhead and Oakley up top, not both and certainly not Muirhead out wide. The lack of pace without Quitongo is concerning. First half I felt we unlucky to go in 2 down, was a pretty even game, Ayr took most of their chances, whereas our finishing was poor. Oakley needs to score at 1-1. Second half was awful from our perspective. Ayr knew exactly how to play us and could and really should have picked us off. No thought process, just shell the ball up and feed off the scraps. Unfortunately the Ayr defence won everything and our midfield was all over the place. The Efe long throw can get in the sea, brutal. Dougie got it wrong tonight, hope he doesn't make the same mistake on Saturday. Title challenge over, need to make sure we don't drift away from top 4 after being in them most of the season. Good crowd for a freezing midweek game. Performance won't exactly encourage them back.
  22. We expecting many Ayr fans tonight? Would have thought 3-400?
  23. Be great to see a healthy travelling support this season, think they most we have had from a visiting team is just under 500 from you lot in November. Won't get much chat on this from Morton fans until tomorrow night is out the way.
  24. That sending off is one of the worst decisions I've ever seen, absolutely shocking from the ref. Standard has been absolutely horrendous this season, for all clubs! Surely you win the appeal?
  25. Hopefully Quitongo is fit for this one, felt we really missed his pace and attacking threat on Saturday. Fact he wasn't on the bench tells me he might be out for a bit longer though. Muirhead on either wing is pretty pointless. Needs to be either up top alongside Oakley or on the bench. Difficult to predict how we will line up these days as we have decent options now. Think Gillespie will come back in for sure. No matter how we line up, we should be good enough to beat a struggling Ayr side, devoid of confidence. If we do win, i doubt Ayr have it in them to overtake us going into the last quarter. 5 defeats in their last 9 must be a concern for a team who were flying a few months back. Guess losing Murdoch and Charmers has had an impact and now Mullin too. I'm surprised to see calls for Bullen to go right enough. I've been quite impressed by him since he joined you. If you win tomorrow, you are only 5 points off top going into the last quarter. I'm sure all Ayr fans would have bit your hand off for that scenario at the start of the season. In saying that, i hope you get royally pumped tomorrow night.
