  1. Warrington signs with Matchroom.
  2. No I get that - wasn't comparing them as fighters as such. Just highlighting how quickly Taylor has progressed against someone who Hearn claims is going to be a top star.
  3. 100% agree with that. I know they're different weights (although only one between them), but I compared him with Conor Benn recently. He's 13-0, but his last fight was a rematch against a guy who probably deserved to beat him. His record being 5-4-3 before that. Taylor has now topped many of his own cards and beaten some good names. Fight 15 will be for a world title and 16 could be for two. There's programmes on Sky Sports all week - but I think it's more past footage and interviews than a Behind the Ropes type.
  4. No boxing contract expert by any means, but will the pay not be directly linked to the amount of buys? Putting it up against Warrington-Frampton in this instance might mean a heavily depleted purse for both guys.
  5. Apparently a 10 fight deal with a minimum of $365million guaranteed (more dependent on the scale of event and opponent). Brilliant signing and it should lead to more following. From our point of view, hopefully it leads to a few of his fights being on regular Sky Sports at least. But I'd imagine if they get any decent opponents lined up for him it'll be a Box Office event.
  6. With the added bonus of 2 of the last three talkng hilarious skelpings off everyone else mentioned.... I like Brook but would be happy to see Khan and Broner take the skeplings.
  7. A current welterweight one would be the dream - but never likely to happen. Porter, Garcia, Pacquiao, Thurman, Spence Jr, Crawford. Broner, Khan and Brook could decide that's their division too if they wanted to get involved.
  8. Also the following announced by the WBC: Gary Russell Jnr ordered to face Leo Santa Cruz. Shawn Porter ordered to face Keith Thurman. Jorge Linares and Adrien Broner ordered to fight in an eliminator. Julian Williams vs Erislandy Lara ordered; winner to face Jermell Charlo. Luke Campbell mandatory to Mikey Garcia (should be fight and beat Richard Commey). All interesting; hope quite a few come to fruition. I don't see Golovkin taking on the Charlo fight by the end of this year though; and can't see him taking him on early next year when Canelo is likely to be fighting again on 5th May. ETA: Anthony Dirrell vs Avni Yildirim has been ordered for mandatory position. Apparently Eubank Jr rejected the opportunity so Yildirim took his place despite losing to him.
  9. Does anyone know if we'll have any coverage of Inoue - Payano & Relikh - Troyanovsky on Sunday?
  10. I'm thinking Groves by a few on points. Shoulder is a big question mark. If it's not totally healed then he could be in for a long night but I fancy Groves' supreme jab to get him through any tricky rounds and keep the taller man at bay.
  11. Can't see Joshua fighting the winner of Fury-Wilder in April. They'll point to the additional rest of Joshua plus Hearn wants it agreed before their fight which is just another obstacle. I can only see it being Joshua vs Whyte II with a packed undercard.
  12. Plenty of incident on the latest Raw... Agree with the earlier point about the Bellas. Thought Nikki was about passable when she was one of the main divas (and always found Brie terrible). There's absolutely no need for them now but they want to continue to push Total Divas/Bellas so they'll be back in the limelight. Also in agreement about the booking/promoting three PPVs. It's all a bit muddled at times. Liked the HBK/Taker segment. As much as Shawn was my absolute favourite, I'd rather he stayed retired. If he doesn't, I'd rather it wasn't against a guy he's fought numerous times. The segment was good as a whole but just made me think if they could be doing better with Taker by having him elevate a young star or two in his final years. Rather than coming back to his old feuds constantly. Looks like every heel on Raw is now against the Shield then. Find it especially strange when KO quits last week due to the doings from Braun, then he comes back the following week to assist him and his new pals with the Shield. But liking the trio at the moment.
  13. Brook-Khan talk is becoming really tiresome now. After years of Hearn saying Brook has to move up, he finally does. Then Khan returns with Hearn at the same weight. But now Hearn and Khan are saying any Brook-Khan fight would need to be back down at welterweight. He's also touting both for a Manny Pacquiao fight. Although it'd still be a good event, think they've missed the boat a bit with this one in terms of how good it could have been after a couple of damaging defeats.
  14. Usyk has been made a 'super champion' by the WBO - meaning he'd be eligible for a mandatory challenger spot if he's to step up to heavyweight.
  15. Does Wilder not have a mandatory against Breazeale to satisfy? I realise the unification with Joshua would overrule that but would the Fury fight be able to be made in this instance? Unless he tries to squeeze the Breazeale fight in the next month or so then goes for December.
  16. Very pleasantly surprised by the boxing on Saturday. A very good night for Hearn all round: Good early KOs for Fowler & Taylor. Benn dealing with Peynaud more comfortably (although not as comfortably as he'd probably hoped). Chisora & Allen ensuring they're still relevant - will probably wring a few more fights out of them. Whyte getting a big win and the chance to be matched into world title fights - and probably an excuse to go straight in for April if the Wilder negotiations don't go as he wants.
  17. Friday 28th September I read today. Not sure why it's a Friday; I remember the WWE's Saudi event being on a Friday evening also so it's maybe when they'd prefer it. Certainly be no ring card girls at this.... Did anyone catch the Joseph Parker 'Metamorphosis' show on Sky Sports during the week? It's mostly building up to the Joshua fight and wee bits after. He seems a really nice guy but some of the guys from within his camp (his trainer and promoter in particular; and a few in Joshua's for that matter) seemed like total bellends. Shows you Higgins proper practicing the wee jokes he was making to Hearn about the 'silver spoon on his breath and all that'. Best bit was when there was a dispute over the hand wraps for Joshua. A wee older guy from Joshua's camp said it's never been a problem before and Vitali Klitschko used to do it. Kevin Barry says 'Vitali has been retired a long time' and the wee guy from Joshua's camp says 'Yeah....Josh retired him!' Got very awkward when Barry had to explain to him that he had the wrong brother.
  18. Allen v Webb is replacing Eggington-Cook after Eggington pulled out. They're hopeful of having that fight on Joshua or Khan's undercard.
  19. I'm thinking Taylor might pick Flanagan in order to make sure the fight is up here or at least relatively local. Should make more money that way. The semis of the super-bantamweight tournament in particular are great if all the seeds make it through.
  20. WBN seem to think that the mysterious third division in the latest super series will be heavyweights. They're kind of speculating on who can be in but you can effectively rule out Wilder, Breazeale, Joshua, Povetkin, Whyte & Parker. The best you can hope for from that is to be the WBA 'regular' champion if Charr/Oquendo goes in. Doubt Fury would be interested either. Groves seems to be getting mighty pissed off with waiting around for the final. They made a bit of a show of it being delayed for a month due to his injury and now they don't even have a date in place. Seems to be getting overshadowed by the cruiserweight final and the announcements of the new divisions and fighters. To be fair, both currently announced set of fighters looks great. It will make a proper star of the winners.
  21. He did have quite a few lengthy injury breaks in his relatively short time in WWE. Always felt as if every comeback was his next big chance before it fizzled out. Speaking of acting - saw an advert on TV last night of some action movie filmed at Upton Park featuring Batista & Pierce Brosnan.
  22. Terry Flanagan & Ryan Martin complete the 8 for the Super-Lightweight Super Series. Can only guess that Hooker was supposed to be in Flanagan's place but took the offer from Eddie Hearn instead. Full list is now: Kiryl Relikh, WBA World Super Lightweight Champion Anthony Yigit, European Champion and IBF mandatory Regis Prograis, Interim WBC World Champion Ivan Baranchyk, IBF mandatory Josh Taylor, WBC mandatory Eduard Troyanovsky, WBA mandatory Ryan Martin, undefeated challenger Terry Flanagan, former world champion Can only guess that Relikh - Troyanovsky and Yigit-Baranchyk will kick off. Already heard rumours of Taylor & Prograis being kept apart. So quite likely Taylor will be up against Martin or Flanagan in the first round, followed by the winner of the two above matches.
  23. Booking on Raw has baffling to say the least and it almost always makes Angle look like a bumbling fool as the figurehead. Weeks ago, he said they couldn't even fight for number 1 contendership due to a clause in Lesnar's contract - so that gets totally scrapped for Extreme Rules. The night after Extreme Rules he decides he's not bothered about that and gives six guys the chance to be number one contender (some of whom either lost the night before or didn't even get on the card) with no real reason other than they were the first six to show up during the promo. Later in the night, he tells Corbin he shouldn't be included because he lost. That - and giving Ronda a title shot at Summerslam makes me think there'll be a return of Stephanie & Triple H soon to challenge all the decisions made by Angle.
  24. The statement Kofi released on behalf of the New Day was fairly lengthy. Is Barrett not wrestling anymore? I remember thinking when he was released by WWE he'd go on to have a Drew McIntyre like resurgence on the indy scene throughout the UK.
  25. He just said he's chasing big fights now. I'd imagine Groves & Jack rematches are on his list at some point. Jack makes more sense now because the Stevenson re-match is being held up and neither look too focused on getting titles.
