  1. It'll be interesting when the ashes come around as right now the batting of both top orders is extremely suspect. I saw a stat that jennings is the worst performing opener against pace globally
  2. Another poor display from England's top order
  3. Joe Root loses a toss! The windies choose to bat first and England play two spinners and omit Broad. Ali really has to contribute with the bat in this test I feel as although Rashid is more expensive he's more likely to take wickets than Moeen
  4. Decent performance against a team we should be beating, irrespective of our current predicament. Still like to see as a minimum a replacement for McGinty and a right back this window
  5. If this means we don't see Miles storey up front again it can only be a positive surely
  6. Good start from Pakistan chasing 381. Pitch doesn't seem to be doing much and still 2 days to go so no rush
  7. So now we're 7 points from guaranteed safety with 15 matches remaining. I think we need to win 8 of them to even have any chance of the current fantasy hope of finishing 8th
  8. The WBC have ordered a rematch of fury wilder. That'll upset matchroom
  9. Well it did look like wilder did the cutthroat gesture as he turns away from the knockdown [emoji23]
  10. Is that going in his favour though? You could take a pace attack of Curran, Anderson and Stokes, drop one or two of the spinners and bring in woakes and/or pope which would strengthen the batting without weakening the bowling greatly if at all. Plus it means pope can bat down the order a bit if you want to keep bairstow at 3
  11. Huge innings for Stuart Broad here. Needs a good showing to justify his place in future touring parties. Nothing with the bat and Stokes showing he can be a strike bowler in these conditions and Curran a far better batsman than Broad
  12. Would have left Stokes at 3 personally, he isn't likely to bowl a lot in this test, and coming in lower down means bairstow is more likely to get runs which he badly needs. A top 8 of jennings, burns, Stokes, root, bairstow, buttler, foakes and Ali on paper should be good enough against any team in the world. Find a bowler with 90mph pace and accuracy (hens teeth I know) and England should easily be number one test team in the world
  13. Agree with this although as subsequently pointed out not sure Curran will be risked. Let's see what Broad/woakes can do. We know Jimmy will be back but he should be rested and bairstow back in the middle order
  14. If you bring in denly who you dropping? Mooen with the ball 2nd innings can't be dropped surely?
  15. Seriously, has WAT and the Facebook group both shut down simultaneously?
  16. Lots of successful scottish managers haven't survived in England's lower leagues, for example, Derek McInnes. And Levein himself failed miserably in England after winning precisely nothing in Scotland besides a Fife cup and has had a more than decent career
  17. Robbie Neilson would be a terrific appointment IMHO but I just can't see it
  18. The really worrying thing is that we have placed Gerry britton in temporary charge, cos he had a terrific record last time he was in charge of the thistle first team?
  19. Rohan Dennis takes world TT title ahead of Dumoulin
  20. Quick step take the final 'team' time trial world championships from sunweb. Canyon SRAM take the women's title
  21. Next season already looking really interesting. I still think either Yates will be up against it with dumoulin and especially froome and Thomas as the sky boys in particular can build much stronger squads than mithchelton Scott. Although Jack haig has been a star at the giro and vuelta
  22. Totally agree. There shouldn't be any doubt now that landa should be leading their gc challenges and squads built around him, not going with co leaders.
  23. Yup, Yates to throw away now. Big question is whether valverde can hold on to a podium spot with kruijswijk looking strong and Mas probably more suited to the terrain tomorrow than Valverde
