  1. The thing is, he was shite for every Senior club he's been at really. He joined us as a no-mark journeyman in his early thirties, having never played at this level before and was unexpectedly fantastic. A real old fashioned centre forward. Imagine if Andy Carroll wasn't shite and was a regular goalscorer. Hopefully he'll revert to his pre-Sons form from hereon. That'd be some small comfort I suppose.
  2. But he was at a big club. Oh, wait, I see what you're doing. That's right, kick a man whilst he's lying prone, sobbing on the deck. You b*****ds.
  3. Whit?! Airdrie! I take it all back. Shenanigans!
  4. We can't complain, he's been absolutely immense in a Sons jersey and a credit to the badge. Hope he does well wherever he goes.
  5. Going by the tweet Lister just sent it looks like he's off for good.
  6. Agnew commits: http://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=4468
  7. Aside from Agnew, I've never heard of any of those players.
  8. It's quite the oddity. I've got a photo on my Facebook of me kneeling beside Ruby Murray which amuses me highly.
  9. Agent shite. I'd take it with a shovel full of salt. Good player though, the only player who makes The Moonster feel normal size.
  10. What's this about Agnew? On my phone and can't see the link.
  11. I'm away back to edit my post then and remove any inference from it...
  12. Certainly more constructive than "So and so is pish. Go on prove me wrong!". Aye I've not been impressed whenever I've seen Horne play, which admittedly wasn't often, but his dad's on the coaching staff and this is the least surprising signing we'll make this summer. I realise that Creaney's dad is also a coach and that he's been released, but the difference is that James Creaney is an established first team player, who's had plenty opportunities to show he wasn't good enough in this league. Horne's probably been given the benefit of the doubt with this contract because he hasn't played enough to prove otherwise. He'll be on a development wage or similar, so it's no big deal and I don't expect him to feature in the first team pool, once the pre-season bounce games are over he'll be in the reserves and that'll be that.
  13. Dobbie was never signing for us permanently. Less than a week since the season ended and we're arguing about John Gemmell and Stephen Dobbie, it's going to be a long summer.
  14. Delighted Gilhaney and Fleming have signed.
  15. His dad's a coach. It's only a couple of days since the season ended, relax.
  16. He wasn't near as bad as that. True, he's looked fitter when lining up against us for other sides and wasn't the hardest working target man (that honour goes to a certain Mr J Lister ), but he was decent enough during a period when we were pretty garbage. It was around the time that he was with us that we came dangerously close to finishing bottom of the pile of Scottish professional football, managing to finish 8th just ahead of 'Shire and Forfar.
  17. Further reading here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hag#Hag_in_folklore Interestingly, the Wiki entry for "nightmare" disputes the idea that it comes from "mare" as in female horse or hag and instead attributes it to the olde English word "mare" meaning demon who brings bad dreams.
  18. Commonly referred to as "the old hag" or "the sleep hag". It's apparently a common, albeit terrifying, symptom of sleep paralysis.
  19. If Nicoll signs for Clyde then I'm getting a season ticket for Broadwood.
  20. John Gemmell? The silly season starts earlier every year.
  21. He definitely didn't have the same impact as he did at 16 when he came into the team and put in some storming performances, but I reckon he's still probably young enough to improve. I doubt it'll come to pass anyway and this is really just off-season hypotheticals.
  22. I would be happy enough to see Nicky return, yes.
  23. There's a wee entry on Wikipedia about that which gives details of the urban legend. Seems the development was built in the '80s rather than the '50s though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_City_Village The initial paragraph which supposes there may have been radioactive contamination seems ever so slightly more likely than satanic cannibalism, but both make for a good yarn.
