I'd need to see it again but I dunno what more KVV could have done, he killed it and was firing it out for a corner asap and it hit the guy, he could hardly look round to confirm there was a gap.

Kelly might have done better but if the GK drops a free header from six yards like that I'd put way more blame on Butcher for allowing it in the first place.

Just seen it again. He takes a heavy / lazy touch with his right foot when he just needs to hoof it with his left.

On that point, this is the league table at the point Robinson was named interim after McGhee was binned. We were 2 points worse off than we are now after the same number of games.

This was his run to finishing 9th on 38 points...

I know we all like to talk about our "worst team ever" when we're on a bad run but for me, that team probably was the worst I'd seen (Zak fucking Jules *shudder*).

Another 4 wins this season is well within our current squads capabilities. We're still in a relegation battle but I'm more than confident we'll be safe.*

    * This may well be retracted at 5pm a week on Saturday.

  3. I'm just happy this apparent shortlist doesn't have John Hughes, Tommy Wright or James Mcpake on it.

Of the names mentioned, here are my thoughts for anyone interested:

Mccann - At any other time he'd be my pick of the 3 without question. He's experienced at a good level in England but still young enough to be "long term" if things were to go well. My only doubt is his lack of knowledge about our league.

Ross - Wasn't keen at first as I felt he'd become a bit of a joke figure at Dundee United. However, he's shown before he can manage at this level and may feel like he has a point to prove. I seem to recall from his time at United that he wasn't well liked by the players. Apparently our players don't like anyone which could be a problem.

Holloway - Thanks but no thanks. 5 years ago maybe but he last managed Grimsby and hasn't done anything since. Doesn't know our league and from kicking about the top 2 divisions in England for most of managerial career he probably has enough in the bank to mean he's not really arsed whether we stay up or not.

  4. I've always thought Lambert might feel he has something to prove as a manager up here given he only ever managed Livingston and that went pretty badly from what I remember. Now would seem as good a time as any for him to come back given clubs down south hardly seem to be battering down his door.

Has he officially ruled himself out? He hasn't had a job in almost 2 years and at the rate managers come and go in England his stock must be pretty low down there. Surely coming back to a club he knows and trying to rebuild his reputation a bit in order to get another crack at England isn't the worst idea?

The PS5 version specifically or FM23 in general?

    The PS5 version specifically.

I don't expect it'll be as in depth as the PC version but I don't really want to fork out of it essentially turns out to be a glorified version of FM Mobile.

  6. It was utterly miserable and anyone who says otherwise is at it.

The novelty of working from home well and truly wore off after the first couple of weeks.

Initially there felt like a strange sense of togetherness but the ridiculous tier system soon put paid to that with whole areas of the country (mainly Lanarkshire) being treated as though they were disease ridden cesspits.

Restrictions would be lifted and there appeared to be a glimmer of hope only for a new "variant" to appear.

The only positive thing to come from it is my barber brought in a booking system which is still in place and means I no longer need to queue for a haircut.

  7. Ordinarily I wouldn't be arse but this has probably bought Hammell another few weeks.

All we can hope now is that, somehow, Hammell can turn this around. I can't see it though.

I don't know Flow personally as others seem to. On one hand I wish him the best of luck as he is essentially like one of us and has worked extremely hard to get into the position he's in. On the other, the timing of this stinks and does our current position no favours.

Everything this season seems to be brewing towards a perfect recipe for relegation.

Nah - we should never be writing off cup games. There is a decent possibility of a favourable draw if we get through on Saturday and regardless of what's going on in the league, the Cup is our best hope of this season not being a total fucking disaster (and we really need the money if things go as badly as they look at present).

Unless it's a pumping, losing on Saturday on its own isn't going to change anything in the Board's calculations IMO (and neither will winning unless we deal with Rovers the way we dealt with ICT)

The point has been raised before but if we won the cup (LOL) with the likes of Goss and Lamie I honestly don't know how I'd feel.

From a financial point of few, the payout from a decent cup run is never going to offset the cost of relegation.

It's a stance I hate having to take but I'd honestly accept defeat against Raith if it saw a change in manager. The result against Arbroath was simply down to us having better players rather than any sort of tactical genius from Hammell and it would be the same against Raith. We should be beating lower league opposition regardless of the manager but Hammell has shown time and time again he hasnt got a clue how to beat or, in recent games, even set up a team to compete with those in the same division as us.

  9. Hammell will have at least 2 more games but he should be gone now.

There's not a chance he'll walk. He pretty much had a job for life as the academy director but obviously that position has since been filled. I'd be very surprised if he gets another managerial job give his rancid record with us and the fact he has no association with any other club.

I do feel sorry for him as he's taken a gamble which has obviously massively backfired but trying to preserve our league status should take priority over any loyalty we might have to Stevie Hammell. As a guy who played over 600 professional games he'll be well aware of that fact.
