  1. I also worked as a steward across all those ground back in the day and been as a fan, and can tell you there are a number of times the atmosphere has been terrible. Most times it is down to the game on the pitch. OF, Edinburgh Derbies, European games etc get an atmosphere for being big games, Rangers/Celtic v Livi (no offence to Livi fans) is normally poor as the expectations are a comfortable victory. Same goes for Scotland games, best atmosphere I have ever experienced was the 2-2 game at Hampden vs England, worst was also at Hampden when I was part of the 12k poor souls who went to the Austria friendly when Morrisons were practically giving tickets away. Can't help but notice you didn't answer my other points!
  2. Isn't that their own problem? If they overspend and don't achieve what they want there will be consequences. Why should fans of other clubs care? In terms of the restructure I dont understand how you can say it has failed? The league has been going for 3 seasons (1 of which was during a global pandemic), what is your definition of success? People are quick to forget that the then Ayrshire clubs in the West Premier made a mess of trying to fix this prior to Kelty leaving. The SJFA attempted to create a West/East 2 tier league with the remainder remaining regional below it. There was an indicative vote taken with the East voting unanimously for it with the Ayrshire clubs (with the exception of 1) voting to reject it with a 7 to 5 majority. Kelty left the year after and the rest is history. Also, people make atmospheres not ground so that is a load of nonsense. I am not a big fan of cages but it can be done right.
  3. Speaking to people I know from St Cadocs after our game last week, they thought they needed 6 points fro the last 2 games to have a chance. Stranger things have happened and you never know if teams above them drop further points.
  4. I tend to agree, the St Cadocs game looks more like an aberration than the norm. Those games you highlight, as well as Largs at home, have cost us massively. Cumnock away, where we were outplayed for most of the game, only to get level and look the more likely to win then throw it away with the last kick of the game. Those games add up to the 12 points we need. Agree on the manager, imo the Scottish run has papered over the cracks of some of the errors. Both Bens and Bellshill should have had us out if they had taken their chances. Players need to have a look at themselves as well with some big name players not playing to their levels and the lack of fight in a Southside Derby.
  5. We survived on 30 points last season (29 would have been safe). Think it will be around 27 this year meaning we need 12 points from 12 games. Given the run in we have I think that is quite a tall order.
  6. Utter dross from us today. Gifted Pollok 3 goals when they weren't really threatening us (they were the better team though) while offering nothing in attack with 1 shot on target over the 90. Manager needs to look at himself for changing how we played from last week to this and the lack of changes, making only 2 changes, 1 was enforced over the 90 while loosing is baffling.
  7. There has always been a back log in fixtures. I remember years where we were playing Monday, Wednesday, Saturday from end of April to beginning of June.
  8. It's a long and convoluted story but here are the highlights (as I recall them) to save time lol. They sold the social club behind the goal and then sold the ground several years later. The looked at a number of sites in Kirkintilloch but ran into a number of issues across all of the sites (including 1 that was on a flood plain and SEPA objected). They had decided that part of the deal with the builders was that KRR would find the replacement and not the builders (similar to Baillieston) and eventually ran out of time when the builders asked them to leave and they had to move to Guys Meadow. The new Astro is something completely different and they are hoping to get to run it after the council built it but there seems to be an ongoing issue in finalising the contract.
  9. He turned out for us in 1 game several years ago and his old man was telling us how he should be playing at a high level. He was let go on the Monday after taking the huff and walking out at training for being asked by the then coach staff to do something he didn't want to do!
  10. Best way I can describe it was the Connor Bradley our left back won the ball deep in our half, beat 3 or 4 players (2 who tried to foul him) before smashing the ball from about 30 yards in off the bar. Even the St Cadocs twitter decribed it as a worldy
  11. No idea where our performance came from today as that is the best we have played all season. 3-0 flattered St Cadocs tbh. Haven't seen 2 better goals than our 2nd and 3rd goals this season at this level.
  12. One of the best goals I have seen in my 25+ years of watching Arthurlie.
  13. A game that shows what happens when you don’t take your chances. Pollok could/should have been out of sight by half time missing at least 4 quality chances including a penalty. 2nd half they had 2 more decent chances and then we sort of got a grip of the game, Tam McGaughey winning a penalty for Dykes to score, then we switch off for Lok to lead again before Bolger scored a great free kick to equalise. We had a couple of chances to win it so disappointing not to get 3 points. Can’t help but feel that a point a piece did neither team a favour.
  14. Talbot v Darvel are both on the Friday of that weekend
  15. The rule of thumb with our pitch is that given 6 hours of dry weather it normally drains. Weather looks better for the lead up to the game so would hope would be ok. Will be heavy though.
  16. 2 legged semi finals are back apparently
  17. Took in this game, better team won but was in all honestly a poor game. Felt the game was settled when Moffat went 4 up top, was a gamble I didn't think was needed at that stage of the game and ultimately it cost them, although the miss at the death was really bad!!
  18. He has to hand over kit etc to the club he plays for before the SFA will register him as if he has held on to kit the club can ask the SFA to withhold the registration. That goes for the 30 days to. If the club haven't paid him he can null and void his contact but that takes time with the SFA.
  19. I loved the Junior cup, but just haven't had the same feeling about it since the old East Region clubs left. We have made the Quarters this year and there isn't the same buzz around getting there than there has been in the past. I know that Bellshill have a real buzz around themselves and fair play to them but I just don't have the same feeling I had for it in the 80s/90s/00s/10s. Maybe I'm getting old
  20. Im not insinuating anything. I don't think Glens did anything different because it was us. But what I do know is that is that (and I have done this in the past) Glens could have spoken to Arthurlie and said they wanted to give it as much chance as possible and arranged an inspection for 11:30, but instead they said the pitch was fine (when it wasn't) and fans had started making the 100 mile round trip with some being almost there by the time they found out it was off. I might not be "crying" as a poster above stated but I am certainly angry and disappointed, mainly because of the cost of travelling down on a wasted journey. Like I said I dont have any doubts that this was Glens trying to get the game on but what did they expect when a good part of the pitch was frozen solid, they deserve criticism and punishment from the league for how they handled it!
  21. So that makes what your team did yesterday fine then? Not the 1st time they have done it either too. The fact that they responded on social media saying the park was fine when asked by an Arthurlie fan shows the contempt they treated fans.
  22. Good to see and hopefully that was agreed with opposition before hand. But as with us there are more than just players and officials to worry about with fans travelling significant distances to only find out the game is postponed. I am all for giving a pitches a chance to thaw out where possible but it should be communicated to supporters so they can make a decision if it is worth travelling or not.
  23. Shambles from Glenafton. Having seen pictures of the pitch the league need to take them to task over not having had a morning inspection. It was no where near playable. We were just at Cumnock when we found out it was off. Ended up going to the Cumnock v Rob Roy snooze fest.
  24. But KRR would have a very good case to take EDC to court, as if they have put some of the costs in with the agreement they would become tenants then the council have reneged then they have stolen money from KRR. Also from working in an LA most of my career any money coming in on joint process have signed and sealed contracts and agreements long before the commencement of any work. I thought it had been mentioned on here previously that KRR have not yet put money in and any money would be to make further improvements.
  25. Watching Murdie's interactions with the Cumnock fans at the end of the game after beating us 3-2 I would keep your money. Spoke to a number of fans who have not been impressed by him and many who were in the enclosure let him know that they blamed him when we equalised. When they hit a last minute winner he turned round and goaded his own fans and even when walking off at full time he was shouting at them. Time will tell but certainly just now he is on the back foot.
