  1.  You’re right there’s blame on all sides as the Pyramid should have been sorted better from the beginning but to say the Junior clubs were not wanted is simply untrue, I remember at the time the great Junior conspiracy was the whole thing was a ploy to get Spartans in the league. Where are Spartans now?

The Juniors were offered to join at the beginning and due to the poor short notice setup correctly decided against it as the risk for them was far greater. After it was formed and working there were still 4 places and the Lowland league were open for applications how many Juniors applied and were refused?

TJ was pitching project fear of £150K toilets and Tuesdays to Elgin and then Juniors should join as one at be tier 5 and a separate feeder (sounds familiar to the current pitch) it took Kelty to see through the BS and break ranks to change the SJFA thinking and the East floodgate opened thanks to Dalkeith and Blackburn, notice the EoS accepted all applicants.

TJ is still pitching the same all in under the SJFA but now it’s tier 6, if it turns out to be BS and EoS do have a veto who’ll break ranks first in the West? You can blame the EoS for the initial short notice setup but they’ve been open to applications and have accepted several teams including yours. What’s holding everything up now is this SJFA all in and still SJFA nonsense, if you join the pyramid you’re a senior club. the WRJFA members who want in need to form a WoS league (note the anti juniors EoS have offered to help with it) and the Tayside teams need to accept they’re Highland League area.

Most clubs officials I know didn’t buy into the cost etc. They looked into themselves and we debunked that 150k nonsense (some of which was something to do with costs that Annan occurred when they joined the SFL but were taken out of context)

As for joining when the 4 vacancies opened I was involved with the club at that time we certainly were all for joining the pyramid but for west clubs to join the LL it was a step to far. Costs for travelling at that time would cripple us; while also losing local derbies would of put the club under a huge financial constraint.

I have always believed that all parties have to share the blame for the way it’s been handled. Junior clubs and officials were so dismissive of it (I remember receiving a phone call and getting a telling off from a senior junior official after giving an positive endorsement of the pyramid to the bbc!!), the EoS at the time were only looking after their own interests and should never have been allowed to run both organisations, and for me the biggest culprit was Regan who only wanted the pyramid for a box ticking exercise and rushed it through without proper time for discussions to take place.

If what I hear is correct then there will be no change for next season in the East or the West and more discussions to be had.
  2. You are in decent form, but to balance it off, You haven't played anybody in the top half since November

Played Whittlets on 22nd December winning 2-1 at Dam Park.

It’s hard to know what to expect on Saturday. If we can play to our strengths then I believe we can win but our off days seem to have been against the other top teams. If we turn up with the right attitude we can get 3 points.
  3. Dalry beat 8-1. I wouldn't mind it as much if the players looked like they wanted to play  but from the first whistle they looked like they didn't want to be there, won't be winning any games if we only have 4 players out of the 11 trying. Absolute fucking disgrace.
Thanks for getting us promoted but It's time to go, build the team round the boys that want to be there & get the rest to f**k.

I thought you weren’t bad in the first half when the game was scrappy but we were fantastic in the 2nd half.

Del McNabb getting 6 of the goals was fantastic and it could of been more with us getting a goal chopped off and having several other chances.
  4. Rossvale never owned Huntershill, which was always owned by the Council, and like most new Clubs we can't afford to purchase the land, then build a pitch and suitable changing faciliities/stand, as itis well outwith most new junior clubs budgets. At a million pounds an acre in Bishopbriggs, and a new astro pitch alone costing £500,000, then the days of Clubs having their own facilities have long gone. Even laying a good quality grass is in the six figure range after drainage and good enough turf. Most Clubs have to rely on councils, otherwise there would be no new teams in the league. The decision by the Juniors committee was to build a team to put pressure on the Council to allow the Club to look at putting the facilities in ourselves. That however takes time.
Rossvale Juniors are only eight years old, and in a town of 25,000 people, surrounded by Glasgow, we are not in a small area where we can argue easily that we are the focal point of the community. We are in Bishopbriggs with Allan Glens, St Mungos, Glasgow Harp, West Park, Edfc, Springburn Harriers, Bishopbriggs Tennis Club etc, so the Council can't be seen to favour one club making progress difficult.
We face many challenges but haven't done that bad after the short existence, and would ask that people be a bit sympathetic considering a lot of the Clubs we are competing against have 40 year, 50 year, and longer head start than is. If we are still in the same position in 10 years then people have every right to comment.
Its harder to start a junior team now and put in appropriate facilities due to health and safety, and numerous other regulations, which weren't around when most Juniors were starting. This makes it difficult to set up a pie stall etc due to council regulations.
When we were at Petershill, cordia ran the pie stall and we got no revenue. We had to give a cut of the gate over and above hiring the facility to the council for no extra benefits. We had to buy cordials hospitality as we weren't allowed to bring anything in. We weren't allowed to put banners up for advertising. Every barrier to raise money was blocked.
This isn't about people at the Club not wanting it, it's simply not a feasible prospect when others are holding us back.

I don’t think anyone would slag off the hard work being done but my concerns would be that you could conceivably go into the top division next season with a ground that’s not fit for purpose. I am all for getting clubs into the West Region and was a the meetings that you were welcomed in but the lack or minimal amount of changes going on at Huntershill is not good enough imo. I criticised Gartcairn last year but at least they had catering facilities and they should be applauded for trying to improve. Can you not invest in it even if it’s not yours? I know the council won’t want to show favouritism but I’m sure you could fundraise throughout the whole community club to improve the facilities.

I get your point about the length of time that you have been in existence but I worked round the corner from Huntershill when it was built and it looks to me like nothing has changed in that time.

You have made great strides on the park and have gathered together a good and experienced squad but how are you going to cater for the Talbots and Polloks of this world at Huntershill if you go up?
  5. Not surprised as was Baltic in paisley today and was just starting to snow as I left there this afternoon.
Any plans for an inspection early tomorrow do you know?

Not sure but the temp has gone up and it’s now raining so it might end up 50/50. Hopefully it’s on and we can continue our good run against a vics team who will be on a high from their result last week.
  6. I'm surprised at that m8 as the temperature has been been mild for this time of year
Forecast is for a wee bit of rain tonight so hopefully that helps

Been below zero in Barrhead the last few nights. I live round the corner from the ground and my back door is frozen. The one part that is always a problem for for thawing is the bottom corner as it is covered by overhanging trees and any sunlight normally doesn’t hit it until it’s too late. Plus we have had 3 or 4 heavy snow showers with it now lying on the grass.
  7. What's the juniors pland.  Eosfl can't plan because of the juniors who can't decide what they are doing.  I'm certhinly glad your not on our committee now pricey or you'd have us upto dundee or in lower league with bathgate where as look how we have grown this season in eosfl. If it's that bad

The juniors do have a plan. It’s been well documented what it is and it’s now up to the PWG to accept it or not. I’m not saying it right or wrong but there is a plan. Have the EOS given a counter plan?
  8. I was just walking toward the corner when the ref and assistant made the decision and it’s totally the correct decisions as that corner what flooded big Time and it would be a struggle for the teams to take corners and to for the assistant referee and the players to do there jobs going down that side of the pitch

Sorry but thats nonsense. See johns post above. Why ask to get I attended to then just call it off? Give the grounds staff a chance to fix it. If you give them 10 mins and it’s still not sorted then call it off. What’s to lose? As I’ve said earlier I have seen worse and it being played. Also a current grade 1 referee told me a few years back that if it’s in an area that is unlikely to have a significant area of the pitch then the game should go on and it should take big areas of the game to be under water for it to be abandoned.

The referee bounced the ball (I’ve always thought rolling is was a more realistic way of deciding) once then walked another 5 yards and called it off. That’s not a through pitch inspection and imo a disgrace.
  9. I was at Arthurlie v Benburb this afternoon, and the abandonment at half time certainly caught the crowd by surprise.

Up till then it had been a really good competitive match with Arthurlie ahead through Marks' early strike.

There didn't appear to be any hint of a problem with the ball holding up on the pitch at any point, but the referee and linesmen came out just after the teams went in for half time. He rolled the ball for a couple of metres at one of the corner flags and then blew the full time whistle.

To be fair, the light was getting really poor, and perhaps we didn't realise how heavy the rain was as we were all under the cover. But it took most of the crowd by surprise.

£6 down the drain, ah well.

I thought it was poor not to at least let the ground staff worked on it. I have seen worse conditions at Dunterlie with the game played to a conclusion. It seemed to me that the experienced linesman (Sandy Miller) was the one who felt it was unplayable and took the lead in making the decision which is strange considering he was on the other side of the pitch from where it was deemed unplayable. If it was for the light then the game never should of started as it was no worse than at the beginning of the game imo.

As you said it was a surprise to everyone in the crowd but these thing happed and I had enjoyed a really open game until it was called off.

Disappointed but we move onto next weeks massive game against Whittlets.
  10. You may have gathered by now I've had personal experience of the Junior shysters, as I said it's not confined to the SPLF/SFA.  At the end of the day if we allow the blazers (at whatever level) to influence what football we watch, they win.

They win anyway. They have have the power and most clubs support their position. The clubs that want to drive change are shouted down and marginalised (I have first hand experience of both). The introduction of SPFL 3 shouldn’t happen, but it probably will but it shouldn’t influence the change that needs to take place in the non league side of things which is long overdue.
  11. I thought the dalry keeper today was excellent a shame for the second goal the weather played a big part and for the first goal he made a great save from the header we could have had an extra few but wasnt to be also thought the ref was a bit of a tube todaybut good to get another 3 points in the bag bring on the vics next week[emoji16][emoji1303]

Weather did play a part in it but that’s why keepers are coached to take it into their chests!!

Agree with the other bits. Dalry had a couple of chances in the 1st half one that’s was blazed over and the other forced a good save from Digney. One negative from this season has been that we seem to switch of defensively in games. Sometimes we get punished and at other times we get away with it, today we got punished but thankfully we were 2 goals to the good. If we have hopes of pushing for promotion we need to stop that. Onwards and upwards.
  12. Kilsyth 3 Arthurlie 2
A welcome 3pts after the leathering we took last week , better side in 1st half but 2nd half mostly lie , and they can consider themselves unlucky not to get a point after pummeling us for last 25mins , a few fine saves by our keeper and some stout defending meaning we got the points [emoji16]

100% agree with this. We need to stop giving away soft goals. We need to sort this out pronto. The third goal we are on the attack and give the ball away and 2 passes later we are 3-1 down.
  13. Just a wee footnote to yesterday's Rutherglen Glencairn v Arthurlie match.

There was a "mild debate" around me at Glencairn's second goal, with the Arthurlie fans' opinion that it was "quite clearly offside". They didn't take too kindly to me pointing out that, as they were at least 60 yards away from the incident and on the other side of the pitch, and that I was five yards closer and couldn't possibly tell, so perhaps the linesman had a better view than they did.

After I absorbed the insults that came from either side of me with a smile, I ignored their attempts to goad me for the next few minutes, and they made their way towards the exit quietly with about eight minutes still to go.

It was pleasing to see that Gerry's video showed that the linesman got it spot on. [emoji106]

The video doesn’t show he got it spot on, it’s hard to actually tell if he is on or off. It was tight but given the officials performance yesterday I wouldn’t be 100% sure they got it right as they got most things wrong. Glens deserves victory but your number 4 and 5 spent the whole game trying to get opponents booked.
  14. That was our problem in 2010 when Smith and Patterson moved on to Petershill, leaving us with very little time to appoint a manager and throw together a squad from nothing. Willie Harvey did what he could but it was never going to work, no manager would have kept us in the top league that season due to the circumstances.

I remember. You did beat us though!!

  15. Arthurlie and Girvan will now both be under new management as they drop down into this league. With only a week or two till most teams are returning to pre-season training, and most players having already decided on where they'll be playing next season, it's not a good time for any club to be without a manager.

It has taken far longer than it should imo to get a new man in. Considering he is inheriting 3/4 players from last years squad I fear for us doing a Sunderland. Hope I am wrong.
  16. Supposing this new rule was proposed at the AGM on 16/6/18, the clubs would need to vote, and would it get the required majority ? The clubs would also be required to enter into a contract with the SJFA, making this a legal requirement.
I can't see any  junior club in the West 'buying into' that approach. This isn't the 1950's.

That depends on the views of the ‘remainers’ who would have no interest in moving and may feel that it gives junior football some security. In terms of a contract clubs already enter into a contract by paying a membership fee for the 12 months that they are members.

I’m not saying it will happen I’m only saying that I wouldn’t be surprised given some of the comments.

In terms of it not being the 1950s, have you been to junior meeting? I’m not sure that some clubs still don’t think that it is.
  17. I am wondering if it is a shot across the bows of any clubs wanting to leave next season. I wonder if there will a new rule written in this year. If I was running a west club and was thinking of leaving I would be immediately resigning and work with other like minded clubs to make sure a working west league is in place for 19/20.

It is very poor form for the SJFA to be thinking along these lines and it’s time for clubs to move away from an association who threatens there members.

  18. I have to admit from a club level - certainly in the West - that's the way it appeared on the ground. I've said as much on here myself.

Whether the SJFA was attending the meetings and failing to communicate developments to the clubs I don't know, but there certainly was some kind of disconnect somewhere along the line.

The first I was aware of the proposals was maybe mid-late April of the season before the LL started when our club secretary showed me the questionnaire that had been sent round. Even then from memory it was couched in language that sounded odd - loads of "in principle" and so on.

At any rate, nobody was going to make a precipitate decision in that sort of timeframe. Whether that was the fault of the SJFA or the movers and shakers of the LL, I'm now not as sure as I previously was, but either way it was like getting an invite to a party on the other side of the city that starts in half an hour - you're not going to bother...

Agree with a lot of what you have said here. I feel that all west junior clubs (especially) have cast as villains here. I know for a fact that Arthurlie responded positively to all the questionnaires regarding the pyramid. I also believe 5/6 others did likewise. We asked for additional information to take to our membership before making a final decision on this, but didn’t receive any. When I contacted that SFA & SJFA I wasn’t given the information required and left with the distinct feeling that it had already had been decided that it would mainly be made up by EOSL clubs.

Some junior clubs have to stop living in the past. Change can be positive, you only have to look at the decline in crowds across many clubs (my own being a prime example) to see that change is needed. Times have changed and it’s time for the SJFA and (sadly) a large amount of junior clubs to change with it.

We need a WoSL to achieve parity and allow for a fully functional pyramid to be achieved.

Also some people from both sides of the argument should have a good look at themselves and stop acting like school children.

  19. Only if there's evidence to suggest clubs are interested. Which hasn't been the case.

You keep saying there isn’t interest. But clubs have not been properly consulted. If a full proposal is put forward (as wasn’t when clubs were asked to indicate if they wanted to be involved) then you might get a better idea of who wants involved and who doesn’t. I would be a massive supporter (as I have been in the past) for my club to be involved, but at the moment that opportunity doesn’t exist without taking on a significant financial risk.

I hope that there is some movement towards this either through working together or a separate WOS league proposal.

I agree that there needs to be a top down approach as I said earlier as there are too many agendas to get a consensus.
