  1. I loved the Junior cup, but just haven't had the same feeling about it since the old East Region clubs left. We have made the Quarters this year and there isn't the same buzz around getting there than there has been in the past. I know that Bellshill have a real buzz around themselves and fair play to them but I just don't have the same feeling I had for it in the 80s/90s/00s/10s. Maybe I'm getting old
  2. Im not insinuating anything. I don't think Glens did anything different because it was us. But what I do know is that is that (and I have done this in the past) Glens could have spoken to Arthurlie and said they wanted to give it as much chance as possible and arranged an inspection for 11:30, but instead they said the pitch was fine (when it wasn't) and fans had started making the 100 mile round trip with some being almost there by the time they found out it was off. I might not be "crying" as a poster above stated but I am certainly angry and disappointed, mainly because of the cost of travelling down on a wasted journey. Like I said I dont have any doubts that this was Glens trying to get the game on but what did they expect when a good part of the pitch was frozen solid, they deserve criticism and punishment from the league for how they handled it!
  3. So that makes what your team did yesterday fine then? Not the 1st time they have done it either too. The fact that they responded on social media saying the park was fine when asked by an Arthurlie fan shows the contempt they treated fans.
  4. Good to see and hopefully that was agreed with opposition before hand. But as with us there are more than just players and officials to worry about with fans travelling significant distances to only find out the game is postponed. I am all for giving a pitches a chance to thaw out where possible but it should be communicated to supporters so they can make a decision if it is worth travelling or not.
  5. Shambles from Glenafton. Having seen pictures of the pitch the league need to take them to task over not having had a morning inspection. It was no where near playable. We were just at Cumnock when we found out it was off. Ended up going to the Cumnock v Rob Roy snooze fest.
  6. But KRR would have a very good case to take EDC to court, as if they have put some of the costs in with the agreement they would become tenants then the council have reneged then they have stolen money from KRR. Also from working in an LA most of my career any money coming in on joint process have signed and sealed contracts and agreements long before the commencement of any work. I thought it had been mentioned on here previously that KRR have not yet put money in and any money would be to make further improvements.
  7. Watching Murdie's interactions with the Cumnock fans at the end of the game after beating us 3-2 I would keep your money. Spoke to a number of fans who have not been impressed by him and many who were in the enclosure let him know that they blamed him when we equalised. When they hit a last minute winner he turned round and goaded his own fans and even when walking off at full time he was shouting at them. Time will tell but certainly just now he is on the back foot.
  8. Had this exact thought when I saw the wanks list with EK on it. He was extremely vocal in his opposition before moving to EK so lets see you back it up now Mick and make the same comments while criticising your employer!
  9. Crazy game, Bens were cruising but there misses came back to haunt them as Max Kerr pulled 1 back and Bens went into their shell and we finally found an equaliser when Scott Anson headed the equaliser with his 1st goal from the club. Arthurlie then had a free kick on the halfway near the dugouts, Jordan Leyden went to launch it into the box knowing it was almost the lack kick of the game. The free kick flew over the keeper to send us through. Unbelievable.
  10. Got what we deserved today which was nothing. For 75 minutes we didn't even look like troubling the Cumnock goal and then out of nowhere 2 in 5 minutes and we were level. After that only looked like 1 winner and we missed 3 great chances and some good defending kept it level only for Cumnock to score with almost the last kick to win it. We can't continue to play in fits and starts and not put together a full 90 or at least 80 if we want to stay up.
  11. Well you shouldn't be budgeting on away crowds. You cannot guarantee that you will get the bigger away supports on a Saturday no matter if all clubs have floodlights or not. It is not the league or the other clubs duty to subsidise the other clubs at this level. I agree that clubs should be working towards a minimum standard for grounds across all the leagues but at the end of the day the clubs run the league and if they want changes they can ask for it. You also can go to your club and ask for them to propose it if they agree with you.
  12. There is an area of the pitch that is under the trees at the far corner and it doesn’t get the sun until late afternoon and would have no chance to thaw out.
  13. We were well beaten and if it wasn’t for some good saves from the keeper & last ditch defending it would have been more. Manager got tactics wrong and was forced to change it after being 2 down in 10 mins. 2 terrible goals to loose. Should have had a penalty when Leyden was fouled in the box but somehow the referee gave a foul against him for kicking the player who had dived in front of him to block him getting to the ball. Need to improve & fast.
  14. Agree with your 1st point, your 2nd is nonsense, they will have worked no harder tan any other committee.
  15. St Cadoc's 4-4 Arthurlie. We took the lead and could have been 2 up. Made an error that levelled it then fell apart for the rest of the half and could have been further behind than 4-1. Manager made changes and that seemed to freak out St Cadoc's who did nothing of note in the 2nd half and it was all us, Wharton scored on his debut after a bad error from the home keeper, Bolger then scored a great free kick and then the keeper wiped out McPherson and Docherty buried the pen. Would have bitten your hand off at half time for a goal in the 2nd half never mind a point. We need to be better though as we cannot give away the goals we gave away.
  16. Wasn't there today but can't say I was surprised tbh. Our defending over the past few weeks has been poor. We can score most weeks but can't keep goals out. Plus, after the managers comments to the press that we were the better team last week I would love some of the medication he is on. Big game next week.
  17. The only thing I would say is that in the past when we had discussion with our LA the issue around improvements, social club and making money from the facility were very contentious and were never overcome.
  18. Not much between the team imo. First half Bankies on top, 2nd thought it was us and had a great chance to level with big Dykes but never got enough on his header. Darroch and Niven were very very good at the back for the visitors.
  19. Big 3 points for us today. If we had taken our chances at 1-0 it would have been a comfortable game but we didn’t and Troon took their chance to level. But thankfully we got 1 more chance in stoppage time and won it. Nothing much between the teams so glad to get the 3 points.
  20. Its not just about freeing up wages, teams will rarely let player go for nothing to a rival during the season so you will have to pay a premium and if the budget has already been spent as you say it makes it doubly difficult to raise funds as clubs will only be after the better players in your squad who you would want to keep hold of. I agree some loans would help that way too.
  21. Getting 4 experienced premier league players in won't be easy as clubs and players will demand good money to move during the season. Not saying it can't be done just not as easy as you are making out.
  22. Was it not reported on here that the speedway needed more room and had to take more of the grass away meaning that there wasn't enough for a pitch or am I imagining that lol!!
  23. Not quite sure how we weren’t 2/3 goals behind in the opening 15/20 mins but some good keeping and poor finishing kept us in it and big Dykes again sparked us into life and got us in front. 2nd half was almost a non event with both teams cancelling each other out. 3 point and onto medda next week.
  24. I agree with you, you should have floodlights in the top division. Where I slightly diverge from your position is that as of now I think the league need to say to clubs that they will bring it in, in 5 years time. Give clubs who are looking at reaching the top division the time to reach it but totally agree that the top level should have a minimum standard which includes floodlights.
  25. He got injured in his last game for Camby apparently, should hopefully be back soon.
