  1. Thirteen years of seeing live music and it's finally happened - I've finally breached the three figure barrier for a ticket. One hundred and five actual human money to see a band. And I never even realised Travis are the support, they should have knocked fifty quid off for that. Still, at least I didn't go for "early standing access" for two hundred and twenty one pounds. I don't care how famous or popular I ever was, I couldn't live with myself if I thought people were paying that much to see me.
  2. Lives in Kirkcaldy, lives in the 1940s. What part of this is news?
  3. Investigation over. Definitely worth the hassle.
  4. I'm going to try and get a ticket for The Killers at the Hydro next year.
  5. I know this thread absolutely hates Norris and Russell but a 39 year old Hamilton driving a Mercedes they've had to build from scratch for the third year running vs. Norris in a team who had the most dramatic improvement over the 2023 season is really unlikely to be that much of a contest.
  6. I regret to inform The Forum that I agree with Stormzy - Breaking Bad is, in fact, terrible.
  7. Sounds like a wild night in watching that unfold!
  8. Can't be ready yet, Keysey has already forgotten what his name is.
  9. Meanwhile, on the other end of the video game spectrum:
  10. I lasted about ten minutes of the first episode of The West Wing. Insufferable.
  11. Of course if I was the leader of the Labour party I wouldn't be citing Margaret fucking Thatcher as any kind of example to follow in anything but I'm not sir keef.
  12. Keir Starmer defends praising Thatcher in pitch for Tories - BBC News Now I'm not very experienced with the media but if I hadn't praised someone and the media said I had praised them then when I was clarifying what had happened I would have used the phrase "I did not praise her." But I'm not the keef savant the kind of which we have on here.
  13. Me??? Get one right that Aim here gets wrong???? Ex-Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor dies aged 93 - BBC News What I find really interesting here is an American political figure retired. She wasn't even 70! She died at 32 Base Points, with that doubled for Deadly December, and a Solo Shot giving @Arbroathlegend36-0 114 points. The standings in the last post and the first page are now right.
  14. Additional notes: Aim Here said we had four deaths this week. I don't know if he was wrong or I missed one. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. The 2024 thread will go up next Sunday.
  15. Week 48 update Three deaths this week. Up first, Henry Kissinger: Henry Kissinger, secretary of state to Richard Nixon, dies at 100 | Henry Kissinger | The Guardian There's basically no chance of me doing justice to his life and career in one of these posts, even if he was the only death this week. Have a read and form your own conclusions. His Wikipedia page is very long. To me, he'll always be the guy who dropped his glasses in the toilet. Kissinger died at 100 so he's worth 25 Base Points for @Arch Stanton, @atfccfc, @BillyAnchor, @Christophe, @djchapsticks, @El Guapo, @German Jag, @HI HAT, @Lex, @Mark Connolly, @mathematics, @Moomintroll, @nessies long lost ghost, @Priti priti priti Patel, @Ray Patterson, @sleazy, @Chris Partlow, @ThomCat and @Willie adie. There's also a Captain bonus for @Dunning1874 for 50 points. ============== At the other end of the spectrum this week, Shane MacGowan: Shane MacGowan obituary | Shane MacGowan | The Guardian I'm not as familiar with my alcohol-fuelled Irish punk as I ought to be, but it's December, so you're hearing the Pogues at some point whether you like it or not. MacGowan died at 65 so he's worth 60 Base Points for @101, @alta-pete, @Arch Stanton, @ayrunitedfw, @Bazz891, @Bert Raccoon, @BillyAnchor, @blackislekillie, @dagane, @Desp, @El Guapo, @Frosty, @invergowrie arab, @Les Cabbage, @lolls, @Melanius Mullarkay, @microdave, @mizfit, @mozam76, @nessies long lost ghost, @Oystercatcher, @psv_killie, @pub car king, @San Starko, @Scorge, @sleazy, @statts1976uk and @Suspect Device. ============== Final death this week was the playwright John Byrne: Renowned Scottish playwright and artist John Byrne dies aged 83 | John Byrne | The Guardian His Wikipedia also tells me that he was the son of a woman and her father. You don't see that every day. Byrne died at 83 so he's worth 42 Base Points for @ICTJohnboy, who gets a Solo Shot for a total of 92 points. After all of this, the standings look like this: 1. psv_killie 436 2. cdhafc1874 422 3. JustOneCornetto 405 4. Arbroathlegend36-0 402 5. gkneil 369 6. Desp 324 7. Karpaty Lviv 300 8. 16. This logo Burnley are using on a hat: 1. It looks a bit shit. 2. The F is the biggest letter. Is it supposed to be burnley FOOTBALL club? 3. The way the F bleeds into the C makes that look like a Euro symbol. The way the F cuts through the B makes it look like an E. E F €? 4. I have no idea if this is a badge Burnley have used in the past, but if they have this is a modernised, clean version of it like so many other overly corporatised logos nowadays. Literally every other football badge that's just stylised letters like this pulls this look off better.
