  1. Jenny Fletcher. Also 41 so qualifies for P+B MILF status.
  2. This and this source The Glasgow incident!
  3. Well done Eddie. The marathon is a cruel distance. I was totally scunnered with running after Edinburgh last year and I'm still struggling to find my form. I've been getting back into the racing the past couple of months though. I've done the Loch Katrine, Balfron and Dumbarton 10ks so far. Took 20 secs of my previous best at LK this year. Added 45 sec onto my best at Balfron (over a slightly tougher course) and ran a PB at Dumbarton (43:41). I done the sprint triathlon at Loch LoMan today and ran a 20:19 off the bike which helped see me to an overall time of 1:16:05 and 11th overall. So things might be starting to click.
  4. Another "jobs for the boys" stick for MJC to beat the club with after our next defeat.
  5. I would think the new leisure centre will be up and running before those races take place. I've heard there won't be any Polaroid series this year. Rumour is Babcock will sponsor so the races may still go ahead.
  6. Watch choice comes down to budget and what features you want. Accuracy in general isn't any better on more expensive models. I have a Garmin Fenix 3 and it's great, although it's in the upper price range. I tend to use quite a lot of the features on it, swim, bike, run, activity tracking, sleep tracking, hiking, load in routes to follow and its a decent enough looking watch to wear for daily use. Check out DC Rainmakers blog for the in depth reviews and comparisons that should help to give you an idea of what your getting for your money. I managed about 930 miles in 2016. I had planned to put in more but was a bit scunnered with running after the Edinburgh marathon and took me a while to get going after although I was focused on training for a 10k swim until the end of August which limited running time anyway. I'm planning on sticking to 10ks for this year. Already signed up for Nigel Barge, Balfron, and Loch Katrine. Probably add a few more of the Trossachs series and the Polariod series once they open. Going to be doing a few sprint triathlons and probably a couple of open water races toward the end of summer.
  7. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4015584/James-McFadden-hits-Celtic-s-disrespectful-Chris-Davies.html McGhee obviously isn't the only one who doesn't have a clue who the Celtic number 2 is.
  8. With the Indian league winding down we'll no doubt be linked with Pearson.
  9. I got round in 1:47:16. About 10 minutes slower than last year. My running's been pretty half hearted since the Edinburgh marathon and I've been focused much more on swimming so it was no big surprise. Think I'll be targeting 5 and 10ks for the next year at least unless I get a place at London.
  10. I'm just back from a week on Skye. We had planned for a guide to take us up In Pinn a while back. That was the Tuesday, couldn't have asked for better weather! On the Thursday we headed up Blá Bheinn and got lucky as the weather cleared just as we were approaching the summit.
  11. There's a shock... I always had down as a glass half full kinda guy.
  12. Anyone else follow this guy on youtube? Some of his videos recently have been stunning.
  13. I went up Beinn an Lochain today. It's been on the to do list for quite a while. Great wee hill despite the amount of haze around this monring.
  14. My hamstrings are still pretty tight. They seized up when realised I was going to have to push it down the home straight to sneak under 3:40 resulting in some interesting form as I crossed the line. It's my feet that are giving my the most grief at the moment. Not helped by the fact I've got a big toenail that appears to be in two minds whether it's going to fall off or not.
  15. It was Mr. Brightside when I was going by.
  16. Got round the marathon course in 3:39:51. I was unsure of my target time going into the race but thought I could have got round in under 3 and a half and was well inside that pace at the turn around 18 miles when I started to slow. By mile 21 I was really struggling and had to do the death shuffle for the final 5 miles as it really started to heat up. I probably went out too fast, but that's a lesson learnt. At least I have the benchmark now for the next one and I'm happy enough with the time.
  17. Are you sure about your start time? I'm in the red wave and don't start till 9:50. Pretty sure the start area and bag drops aren't open till 8:30.
  18. I'm doing Edinburgh on Sunday but looks like I'm too late to book a ticket for the shuttle bus back into town. I'm sure someone here had said the using the city buses was better anyway. Anyone have any idea what the best option is for somewhere to park and the best way back from the finish?
  19. My current PBs are: 5k -19:37 10k - 44:09 HM - 1:37:48 I've been focused on getting ready for the Edinburgh marathon so far this year so haven't really though about targets for these too much. I've signed up for the mens 10k in Glasgow in June which is a few weeks after the marathon. I'd like to think I'll get sub 42 there. The next race in the calendar for me will the GSR half, although before that I'm doing the 10k at the Great Scottish swim which will means I'll get very little running until a month out from the race. Hopefully I can maintain the running fitness while training for the swim, I'd be pretty happy if I could get under 1:35. I'm doing the 5k at the kelpies in November. Would be nice too go sub 19 there.
  20. Oh aye... My mistake. We'll see either a team that have never won it or a team that haven't won it for more than a Century.
