  1. Surely no one will actually be travelling up though?
  2. Very much this. I think only probably A Watson, Biggar (with Finn injured), Furlong and Itoje are certainties to start on Saturday. I think Gatland will go with the following, but I could be completely wrong. (I've put my different choices in brackets). 15 Williams 14 Watson 13 Daly (Harris) 12 Henshaw 11 Adams 10 Biggar 9 Murray (Price) 8 Conan (Curry) 7 Watson 6 Lawes 5 Jones 4 Itoje 3 Furlong 2 Cowan Dickie 1 Sutherland
  3. Forgot just how great coming away from the Indodrill after a good win felt. Draw would have been fairer IMO, but Taggs solo effort turned the game. Couldn't see what happened for the pen, but ref gave it immediately. After the chat about young players, seeing O'Donnell do so well was well timed. Still not sure what his best position is. I thought we played OK up to the frantic finish, especially first half when we matched Livi. I thought all the new players did OK, so it will be a case of how the team gels and develops. Sammon is an interesting one - looks a real handful a lot of the time, then like he'll fall over the ball in front of goal. Anyway, great to be back at live football.
  4. His use of the ball is fine. A better footballer than he might at first appear given the eye is drawn to his work rate and robust challenges.
  5. Yeah, Peter Grant deserves credit for giving Williamson and O'Donnell the game time he did. I think both have a good chance of having good playing careers, at whatever level fits them. On a related matter I see Max Wright got Albion Rovers goal against Falkirk on Tuesday. He's done well at League 2 level since he was with Alloa. Always good to see IMO.
  6. Remember when Adam Martin was the best thing since sliced bread because he was a young home player who had a couple of OK cameos from the bench and the team was struggling a bit?
  7. Pretty much agree with Waspie re Jamieson. I would have been happy to see him in the team this year. I felt he suffered a bit from the defence generally being dodgy last season , with Andy G and Parry not hitting their usual heights. It remains to be seen whether Howie, Durnan and Armstrong are better. I think the young lads going out on loan is best for everyone. Also agree with Waspie's comments re Williamson. He did well enough for us in the Championship, but we have lost a really solid left back in Dick and that's the standard of replacement we should be getting in. Four players moving out would suggest another four at least coming in. I am, as others, of the opinion that we lack a genuine goalscoring striker (e.g an Innes Cameron) although, clearly, it's far too early to judge the new strikers.
  8. When men were men, and sprinters were lunatics. Still the best ever name in sport for me. Djamolidine Abďoujaparox.
  9. Erik Zabel's the big miss for me.
  10. No I don't consider Sagan to be in the top level of sprinters, he's just not quick enough, and I'm a big fan. I'm not having a go at Cav's achievment, as you say he can only beat what's there and he's done that comprehensively. There's no one (apart from Cab and Ewan) at the top level IMO. It's not who is missing from the Tour, it's compared to normal.
  11. Based on this team its looking very likely that Hogg, H Watson, Sutherland and VDM will start first test with price on bench. Ian McGeechan, writing in the Telegraph sees Harris, Sutherland and Watson as the likely Scots in the first test, with Russell and VDM possibles. Thinks Williams is nailed on for full back.
  12. I'm talking specifically about the Tour. Apart from Caleb Ewan and possibly Merlier, although for me he's yet to prove himself of the highest class, there are no top level sprinters in this Tour IMO (Cav excepted). Cav was always extra special at taking his chances and that's what he has done again, backed by an excellent lead out.
  13. Nobody but Larry David would (a) go with that or (b) make it work.
  14. Heinz = 57 varieties. Nice link though.
  15. While Cavs achievement is immense, I think it needs pointing out how relatively poor the level of competition is from the other sprinters in this Tour. Not that Cavs going to care, and neither should he.
  16. Check out his bio. He was a very successful businessman after his rugby career, including.........being the CEO at Heinz.
  17. Excellent! Now all we need is England pumped out the Euros and this will be a very good day indeed.
  18. Got a ticket for the Livi game (can't make the Cowden one). Will be a bit surreal, I expect, but exciting to be going to a game.
  19. I'm torn between wanting Pogacar to lose time because of winds, a fall or some other issue to make it a closer race and wanting him to win by a big margin to show his incredible talent.
  20. Surely exciting rather than anxious? To be fair, neither Cameron or O'Hara had been great elsewhere before joining us (although Cameron didn't get a lot of game time at Ayr), but both were given a proper chance at Alloa and certainly delivered. Maybe Peter Grant deserves a slice of that credit. I believe we have a squad now that can compete for a play off place. Up to the manager to get the most out of them.
  21. Don't know much about King and Armstrong (I'm sure someone will be on soon to dismiss them as 'jobbers'), but midfield and an experienced left back were two weaknesses IMO, so good on that front. I see Armstrong also plays centre back, doesn't look like we'll be short of numbers for that position.
