  1. Wonder if McMillan or Robinson are fit and, if so, whether we would bring them straight back in or pop them on the bench given how well the youngsters played on Tuesday.
  2. I think I’m happy about this, but to be honest don’t really know enough about what goes on behind the scenes to know what to think. Based on him previously supporting Low, good riddance I suppose.
  3. f**k it, at least these games give us a chance to have a proper look at how the kids perform in competitive games. Looking forward to watching them tonight.
  4. On the one hand a bit disappointing, on the other hand the game tomorrow is an ideal opportunity to have a proper look at Mackenzie, Lyon and Stanway in a competitive situation. Assuming no injuries the team picks itself anyway. Only real question is who will partner Bannigan in the middle.
  5. Maybe nowhere near the level of Brownlie before his injury, but surely better than him after it - and with more potential. That said, no idea if we’re still interested in him.
  6. This is a big season for Dowds - can maybe give him some leeway last season for transition to new team / style and bit part role given form of Graham. There seemed to be something there at points last season, but it was clear Doolan didn’t trust him in the playoff games when you’d like to think he’d be a good option for fresh legs. either way, on our budget I can’t see us bringing in another #9 unless we let him go. A winger to cover Lawless / Fitz, and maybe another attacking midfielder (unless that role goes to Mackenzie)
  7. To wade into the ongoing debate, in what way is the QP model sustainable? Beyond potential future crowd growth, player sales etc. - which every club can say the same about. You brought 250 fans to Firhill for a local “derby” in the promotion playoffs - which indicates that there isn’t a particularly large latent fan base to tap into. So once the external funding dries up you’ll find your natural level - which is probably mid-table League 1. That’s not to say you shouldn’t enjoy the ride, just that you should probably at least have some concerns that funding may dry up before certain longer term commitments reach a break point. Which, to be fair, at least some of you seem to.
  8. No idea about his general performance but good to see Lyon with a goal today on top of his excellent assist vs. Kelty midweek. He seemed to have real promise a couple of seasons ago - hopefully he can step up this season.
  9. Where do we train / are we doing pre-season - is it still at Garscube?
  10. Good to see Fitzpatrick commit, thereby breaking the usual inverse relationship between badge kissing and loyalty.
  11. He could be decent “in the hole” behind Graham. Different from Tiff, but a replacement for the position.
  12. I’m not sure what this Don chap is going for, but I’m a wee bit intrigued…
  13. I have no idea how good or bad McCready is, but I’d like to think there is some logic in loaning a decent young goalkeeper out to a team where he’ll have lots to do each match.
  14. Our best form came when we stopped playing both Docherty and Bannigan in midfield and added a bit more creativity. Which I think most people on this board had been asking for for ages. Bannigan Will slot into the Docherty position (from playoffs) and give us some experience / consistency. all you’re basically saying is that you like players who run about a lot and always hit the ball forward. Which is fine for 5 year olds but not how I want to see us play.
  15. You’ve also got to imagine there is a high degree of trust between Doolan and Bannigan/Muirhead. I’d like to think they’d both run through walls for him.
  16. Trust Doolan’s judgement on this one - McCall seemed to rate him highly a couple of seasons ago but not really worked out for him. Hopefully he can realise his potential next season.
  17. Happy with that, albeit expected it. Pleased its 2 years. think the team above is decent, but expect / hope Mackenzie is a starter more often than not this season. On merit mind, not because we can’t afford more players. obvs swap Fitzpatrick and Lawless - but another season of McMillan / Lawless and a season of Milne / Fitzpatrick (if he keeps playoff form) will be tasty.
  18. Yip - he’s solid at this level and good to have a bit of consistency.
