  1. ^^^ agree with above, 100% ^^^ I will wait until The Chessmen comes out in paperback so I can complete the trilogy. Hoping it's more like the 1st book than the 2nd. Currently reading 'Birthdays For The Dead' by Stuart MacBride. Struggling to get into it though read a good few chapters last night.
  2. Ledaig 20 year old Found this in the kitchen cupboard a wee while back. No idea where it came from but it was responsible for getting me into malts. Had a look for some info online at the time and all I could find was a bottle for sale on 'Royal Mile Whiskies' site for over £300. Not the most complex of malts, hints of citrus, bit peppery, seaweed, vanilla or butterscotch sweetness and a subtle smokiness. Still got 3 or 4 drams left in the bottle but when it's gone, it's gone. There's no chance of me paying that sort of money for any drink, no matter how good it is. There are other Ledaig bottlings available and I saw the standard 10year old in a small grocery shop in Saltcoats at the weekend for under £18 so I might give that a try sometime. Distillery: Tobermory ABV: 40% Discountinued but bottles turn up now and again on specialist sites at a fair old price. My Rating. 7.5 A good introduction to the islands whiskies if you happen to find a bottle lurking in your kitchen cupboard.

  6. Cheers. The mrs has wanted to try there for a while so she might just get her way now We visited Lido a few times (before it burned down) which I think was owned by the same company? Don't mind paying £4 a pint, not as if I would be having a session on it.

  9. That's my list sent! Not sure if I am 100% happy with it but I will be busy over the next week or so don't want to risk forgetting to enter. Shouldn't be 100 miles away from my 'perfect 10' anyway.

  11. GREATEST HITS VOL.2 by WESLEY WILLIS. Never head of him before but it was only £1 in the local charity shop, was on the ALTERNATIVE TENTACLES label and had a song called JELLO BIAFRA* on it, so it had to be good. Turns out the guy was 'A diagnosed chronic schizophrenic,] he gained an enormous cult following in the 1990s after releasing several hundred songs of simple but unique music, with emphasis on his humorous, bizarre, and frequently obscene lyrics. The album also features songs called 'Hootie and the Blowfish, Kurt Cobain, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Dave Grohl, Spin Doctors, Courtney Love, Shonen Knife, Pink Floyd and many, many more'. Well worth 100 pennies http://en.wikipedia....i/Wesley_Willis

  20. I was always a once in a blue moon whisky drinker until fairly recently when I found 3/4 of a bottle of Ledaig hidden away at the back of a Kitchen cupboard. At first I thought it was just a cheap blend but on further inspection and a quick Google I found it selling for over £300 on the Royal Mile Whisky website. Unfiortunately the bottle was already open or I could have made a few bob out of it. Since then I have really got into my drams and have about 7 or 8 bottles (all open) on the go. Haven't really got a favourite as such (it seems to change depending on my mood) but I'm really enjoying Highland park, Isle of arran, Laphroaig and Jura Superstition at the moment. My favourite region is definitely Islay and my favourite shop is Robbie's Drams in Ayr. There's always a good offer or two to be had in there and it's fairly local to me. I hope this thread keeps going as I'm always open to recommendations on new ones to try.
