The cap really isn’t that big an issue in NFL. There are always ways to make cuts or restructure contracts due to the nature of guaranteed money/signing bonuses. It will definitely exclude teams close to the salary cap limit, but I’m sure the Jets (amongst others) have plenty of cap space. NBA and MLB contracts are 100% guaranteed so there is very little flexibility and often contracts need to be traded away along with first round picks just to get them off the books. There are no Luol Deng’s in the NFL.

NFL and american sports culture in general are very different to football. Fox just signed a TV deal to show 11 Thursday night NFL games for $660m each year. The Super Bowl was held in a stadium that cost over a Billion dollars. Comparing the practices of a multi-billion dollar league to the diddy Scottish football set up is ridiculous. Checked Zach Brown’s All Pro because I couldn’t believe it. 14 inside linebackers named in the All Pro team last year. Ludicrous. What’s the point in that?
