  1. It isn't an 11-1 vote for that, and from memory there were only a handful of clubs against it. From memory; managers like it, so clubs voted for it.
  2. Apologies to everyone for sharing Euan Taylor's pro-Dessers propaganda.
  3. This is old P&B lore. Some Morton fan (I think?) started a thread about someone (Thundermonkey?) of holding a 'Vandetta' against them, so the forum auto-corrects Ven-detta to Vandetta forever more. I think 'vigil' may also go to 'virgil' for similar reasons.
  4. Hahahahaha I can't believe this still auto-corrects on P&B.
  5. Like, Butcher was not good in that moment in that he did the thing that centre-halfs can't do, by letting the centre forward get across him. However; what the f**k was Blaney doing? Ball watching while Johnston, who'd been a threat throughout the second half was standing without him even looking at him. Come on man.
  6. Agree fully with this as well. My concern with this is that people are taking a very short term view of things. Someone highlighted that if we were 5th (let's be fair, not a million miles away from a possibility had things gone marginally different this season) no one would bat an eyelid and laugh these proposals out. Do I think Dundee, Hibernian or United's investors will be here in a decade? No. Do I think they'll be in a better place after they leave? A very big maybe, and aside from Dundee, I'd say quite probably no. Will Hearts be running the same model? Yes. Will St. Mirren? Probably. It's very easy to look on enviously at other people's spending and nonsense, I get that, but it's not for me.
  7. This is, in part, kind of the issue for a lot of people I think? There's a not insignificant part of the Motherwell support that think we should be challenging for third place, in large part, because we have? That carries a lot of context however, and in general, we've had our more successful seasons when other teams have fucked up, and we've been there to take advantage of it. To me; that's where we sit. We're a 6th-10th sized team in Scotland, who occasionally have a wee daft spell. That's roughly where our attendance is, it's where we will be. That Kilmarnock and St. Mirren are on the up is their turn at it, whereas in pure resource terms traditionally, we can't compete with Aberdeen, Hibernian and Hearts (probably United too, but lol at them). Folk want more money so we can challenge for third, wherever it comes from, which is wild to me, but here we are. I dunno. I'm currently missing turning up to watch my football team then go home without hours of back and forth about stuff that I'm not totally sure I understand.
  8. Absolutely not a go at you at all here, but I've seen this suggested a bunch by people insisting we go for a 50+1 idea akin to Germany like you say, while also citing that Society membership doesn't work etc., and it's absolutely mad to me. If you're an investor looking in, why would you bother? Give up your cash and your time but have no actual final say in what's going on? A curious pair of thoughts to hold in your head that both of these things are absolutely achievable. This is an absolutely sensible view, IMO, and also where a lot of knowledge appears to be missing. As above, folk won't just throw their money into a pit. If they wanted to they'd KLF it because that's the most dramatic way to. There has to be some kind of return, because "Well, we're a nice wee club aren't we?" is not a selling point either, as much as folk would like it to be. It's a business and requires a plan with aims and deliverable means to get there, which I feel like a broken record, we don't appear to have had.
  9. This is not restricted to Motherwell fans, fwiw, but it remains an absolutely mad view point. The number of United fans, for example, that want 'Ogren Out'. I mean, lads, you owe him £10,000,000 odd, don't you? That's money he'll want... back? You can't just chuck him and move on to the next one like you do with your managers. People who have money very rarely want to just give it away. Hutchinson by all accounts had loads of money and he gave us some, but wanted the rest back.
  10. Fair play to the folk going in to bat on twitter, every time I've looked I've seen a stupider take than the one I saw an hour ago.
  11. This is the most sensible thing I've read around our club business since we emptied Jacob Blyth for nothing for doing balloons with Holly Hagan.
  12. Well as (presumably) as much of a gag as this is, it does speak to again; things like 'succession planning' and 'talent identification'. So y'know, stuff that businesses do!
  13. St. Mirren are also, y'know, operating with a clear business plan and strategy to grow the support and the club. It's almost like having a chief exec, board and club in general working towards a common goal with an idea of the benefits that can bring has a tangible effect on the way in which your club operates. Rather than, for example, just sticking a wee £17,000 video out there with the hope that someone will see it and give you money.
  14. Yep, I had assumed the plan was basically: Find another friendly farmer, build a new one, wait for the town to just about be around the stadium, do it again!
  15. Looking forward to visiting the new St. Johnstone stadium in Methven.
  16. Pardon my absolute cynicism for a minute, but honestly I see this running out of road somewhere in the next few years, and then what? Burning a bit of cash to get out of the National League, and even League 2 is very, very different to the money required to get into and more specifically out of the Championship and if you're no longer winning but instead going for a slog to finish 12th for the third season in a row. Salford and the Class of '92 mob found similar that money goes so far, but then you need... LOADS of money. Might be me, but I'm not sure that's a thrilling series. I just find the whole thing a bit cynical, and ultimately does damage to the pyramid as a whole when they're chucking mental wages at guys playing below their level to move up. Gretna/Kelty/Darvel, take your pick for a Scottish comparison, just with better PR.
  17. On the SODs sub; I've been impressed with Devine and continue to be impressed by Gent, but neither of them can contest Kelly's goal kicks, which SODs does very well with generally, so I can see the logic.
  18. I am really tickled at Kettlewell winning loads of games, followed by losing loads of games, followed by drawing loads of games. It's a very funny bit.
  19. Same. I'd generally remain positive about the whole thing but there's a bunch of clubs doing really stupid things. It's telling that Hearts, Kilmarnock and St. Mirren feel miles clear of everyone else, simply through being competent. I don't think any of the three of them are remarkably good (Shankland aside, who is a current nonsense), but none of them do the stupid shit that the other 7 sides below them are. Robinson and McInnes are good, sensible managers doing good sensible things with the budgets and players available to them, and reaping the dividends of that. Livi are running out of road, Ross County appointing an absolute dick who calls the whole squad shit, St. Johnstone for some reason not only not fumigating the place post Davidson but actually just maintaining a coach in MacLean, Aberdeen and Hibernian burning through cash on actually good players, but appointing folk without a single wrinkle on their brain to manage them, and then us. Dundee an outlier here because they look decent, but then it's Dundee, so it's always just around the corner.
