We keep banging on about losing the TV money. Who cares about the TV money? I mean, really where and what has it got us? What is the benefit of getting a bit of TV money if the net result is still a maximum top finish of 3rd place and no real impact in Europe anyway? Sod the TV money. Besides, if the Blue Square Premier and the Welsh Premier League can get TV deals, no matter how small, then an SPL minus Rangers can get a TV deal.

I wouldn't even bet my jar of pennies I keep in the office on that list being real, blatant fake. Rangers short term objective is to save £1m a month, all the high earners have to go. Whittaker, McGregor - all of them. Even if they can raise funds by selling them in the summer it'll be no use to them if Rangers are extinct in the summer anyway!

Someone rich and "Rangers minded" will buy the target club, rename, rebadge and relocate. Most recent example being Airdrieonians. Airdrie went bust, so a rich Airdrie fan purchased Clydebank and changed the name to Airdrie United, changed the strips to the "diamond" strips and moved the club to, you got it, Airdrie.

But if the plan of HMRC is to make an example of Rangers for the bigger fish down south, the spineless SPL doesn't apply in their equation. If Arsenal or Chelsea went bust (as an example), the EPL wouldn't let AFC2012 or CFC2012 in right away. If the object of their game is to kill RFC to make some rogue English teams wet their pants then it'll work. At the end of the day, HMRC can't tell the SPL what to do, and frankly they probably won't care what happens to RFC 2012 as long as it gets the point across.

If they lose the tax case and HMRC then block any CVA then a pretty harsh one, they'll die. Being put out of business is a good lesson to be taught I'd say. Not withstanding the SPL bending over backwards to readmit RFC 2012 or whatever waltzing straight into the league but that's an argument for another day and one that probably wouldn't apply to the English clubs as the loss of one big club wouldn't harm them in the same way.

HMRC will not cave in. HMRC will account for enough of the debt (after Rangers are found guilty) that they can veto any CVA. Rangers will get liquidated and HMRC won't get much of their money, but that's not the point. The point is HMRC will have taught football clubs a serious lesson and given them a major warning, and if it takes flushing the name Rangers Football Club down the drain to scare the shit out of some of the big fish in the EPL and EFL then I'm sure HMRC won't bat an eyelid. Rangers are being used as an example by HMRC essentially.

Definitely a worked shoot. Amazingly done, but worked all the same.

It's chicken and egg though, isn't it? With less coverage less people will know they have a local pro hockey team. With less people aware, there's less crowds. With less crowds, there's less money. With less money there's lower quality. The EIHL may well be light years behind the NHL, KHL and most other European leagues but it doesn't stop it being entertaining. I've had plenty of edge-of-seat moments following Edinburgh where we've won, lost or taken a game into overtime just seconds from the final buzzer - and the excitement is possibly the most important part of a spectator sport?

Latest from the Capitals: we might be Elite League next season. On the other hand we might not. Great way to sell season tickets, that.
-
I've fallen out of love with hockey. I honestly cannot see a future for my team anymore.
-
Capitals back to 5 imports, and Kyle Horne returns from injury. Phew.
-
Capitals now back up to 4 imports, and news on new investors\shareholders to follow in the next couple of weeks. We've hit rock bottom, and now we're headed back up again. Hopefully.
