  1. Mckinlay has a good reputation as a coach and was obviously a quality player. He hasn't had much success in his limited managerial opportunities so would be a gamble. Wouldn't be averse to rolling the dice, especially if he had a Robson or Daly as assistant.
  2. Think a few people have been getting ahead of themselves.
  3. I dont want him but I dont think I could jack it completely on the basis of the appointment. People that have expressed views like he has aren't beyond rehabilitation but even his efforts in terms of the courses etc didnt appear that sincere. Would need to do a hell of a lot more to have me believing he's changed. My bet is the majority of the support wont really give a shit and he'll be judged on results.
  4. Get McLaren in just to hear his oary press conference.
  5. You get the impression that a more recently retired player would be a better fit in terms of the structure at United. As people have said, the vast majority of our managers get sacked for being shite and it's a lottery. I wouldn't have much of a problem with a novice being given the job.
  6. It's unlikely that a contrarian viewpoint that strays into racism is going to be protected under the Equality Act.
  7. Even the thought of Barry Ferguson as manager is enough to contemplate giving up on football all together.
  8. The protests are a watershed moment in terms of maintaining awareness of the problem until something is done about it. Theres been numerous similar killings by the US police in the past, a few weeks of outrage on Twitter and then nothing more until the next time it happens. Similar to the issue of gun control, in terms of nothing being done, except this time there is cross community support and momentum behind the movement. Couple with the fact its election year, now is the time to get political support and get results. It would also appear that there were a fairly large number of white Americans who didnt fully appreciate the issues black Americans faced but are now supportive of change. What the exact changes are, I dont know, but I would expect increased representation of black Americans on the police forces and a demilitarisation of the police wouldnt hurt.
  9. Given that it appears to be a lottery as to whether they succeed, I'm up for giving it to the most outlandish name mentioned. Cut off of Friday. Lehman's in pole position and going to take some beating.
  10. Given the lack of extracurricular activities at present, United should put together a hastily produced Apprentice style show to fill the position. Filmed in real time using all of Arabzones cutting edge production tools, the usual selection of scottish football's unemployed motley crew competing in a series of daily tasks for the ultimate prize.
  11. Bit of a strange one given how he left last time. Suppose he has proven himself to be capable of getting teams out of the championship though which is what Hearts will need. From a United point of view, I suspect a significant proportion of the support wouldn't be that bothered if he left. I'd be happy to keep him but would fancy Tommy Wright if he goes.
  12. You've got to cut them some slack. The poor wee lambs are stuck inside their hovels just as we're entering prime marching season. Got to burn off that extra energy somehow.
  13. I'm coming round now to speeding up the relaxation of measures. It certainly looks like we are about at the point where we are unlikely to be able to suppress the virus much further, given the levels on our doorstep south of the border. The quarantine rules relating to incoming flights were always nonsensical and meant that suppression was going to take a lot longer than it otherwise should have. As strict as possible for as short as possible should have been the approach.
  14. On a happier note, my Public Enemy shirt I picked up a couple of years ago can now see some wear.
  15. I could see the odd day getting rolled over if it was taken in January but you just shift the issue back if it's a significant amount. Buy back obviously costs money when budgets are going to be tight. It helps to have a decent relationship with colleagues and explain the situation and how its being managed. Like I said, its shady furloughing people and then demanding all furlough to count as annual leave. Hardly anyone at my place has been furloughed although I wouldn't have minded it for a few weeks.
  16. Forcing people to take annual leave when they were furloughed anyway is pretty shady but employers have to try and manage leave so that it isn't all outstanding at the tail end of the year. I have a department of 10 and have had to encourage people to make sure they have taken at least 25% of their annual leave by the end of June, meaning that, on average, there will be one and a bit members off each week for the rest of the year. That's manageable but much more wouldn't be given our sector has pretty much shut down the last 3 months and there will be a big backlog to work through. Expecting people to be busy with all their own work and covering that of others constantly isn't reasonable.
  17. Whilst Hayes wouldn't have any sell on value hes surely the best we would get for 12 months in terms of supplying our strikers from the wide areas.
  18. The adidas boost soles are as comfy as air max. I've got an updated pair of zx500 boost that are class.
  19. Whilst it probably isn't possible in some cities, its heartening to see some of the US police responding like this.
  20. Was doing a lockdown wardrobe clear out and came across these NMDs that I got in the sale last Xmas. Completely forgot I'd bought them and dont think gore tex trainers are currently a priority. Keep or ebay?
  21. It is crazy that Biden was the best they could come up with. Fair enough if they wanted to shut out the progressives and go with a centre right candidate but Klobuchar, Harris or Booker would all have been better choices. FWIW I dont think he is suffering from dementia, hes just getting old and doesn't think before he speaks. The debates with trump are going to be some laugh. Both of them will probably say some wild shit.
  22. She isn't really. Likely being looked at to shore up support in the mid and upper mid west states where the election could be won or lost. Given Biden had apparently committed to a female VP there was only really 3 options, the likes of Klobuchar (or Gretchen Whitmer) for the above votes, attempt to double down on the black vote with Harris or someone like Stacy Abrams or go with a leftfield pick like Warren or Gabbard where the polling is even less certain. Klobuchar is beige and relatively uninspiring but would be a safe pair of hands. She isn't stupid either and would be interesting to see her in the one on one VP debates.
