Best case scenario: he's clueless about phones, tablets and the internet and how they work, so assumed it was a mistake that the Parliament IT guys would sort out with the Telecoms firms. He knew the bill would come out as part of his expenses that are published, and more than every other MP's phone bills combined. His sons are typical teenagers and didn't fess up till it was too late. The question of why he didn't just bite the bullet and pay the bill when it turned out it was his fault for not getting the sim card changed after repeated warnings is more difficult to excuse, and trying to get away with paying 3 grand out of office expenses.

What do you mean didn't fess up ?

If I had a 11 Grand phone bill 10 months ago, I am sure I would be doing at least a little investigation at that time..

No doubt did, but simply hoped it would go away.

He is clearly a fraudster who thought he would get away with stealing public money.

Michael should refer himself to the Polis and not Humsa Investigations Ltd

Still confronting multiple 'issues' as BBC article summarises:

It does not explain the security arrangements for his Holyrood iPad.

Nor does it explain how he convinced himself he could have done that volume of constituency work in order to claim it as a legitimate parliamentary expense.

Mr Matheson has told us his family only fessed up last Thursday which is why he offered to pay back the full amount the following day. However, he was still denying there had been "personal" use of the iPad to reporters on Monday.

Mr Matheson has made clear he was trying to protect his family. The problem is he has now admitted concealing the truth because he thought that was justified, and that could undermine trust.

    To summarise lying b*****d

Pretty sure he said in his answer to DRoss that he contacted SP IT about the fact his phone wasn't complying when he tried to set that up as a hotspot, and they told him to use the ipad instead. I'd imagine that will be fairly easy to verify.

I think contacting Scottish Power to complain about his phone was his mistake.

    or was it

Probably the worst local MP we have had was Peter Doig - a man who would have been more at home in the Tories with his "hang 'em and flog 'em" views. He was also an anti-devolutionist c**t of the first degree.

Peter was a good chess player. My old man had many games against him, and he lived opposite me in Wormit once he retired.

The Dundee punters must have liked him as he was never under any threat of losing his seat for nigh on 20 years.

I do remember him being up for a bit of capital punishment and endorsing Polis brutality.

Bo’ness will canter up to the EOS Prem and will challenge imo if they keep their players.

Direct, intense and in your face. Disappointing result but given the team we had out and their false position it’s not a surprising defeat.

Whats disappointing is our defenders not tracking runners and jogging back, all evident on all 5 goals in the video.

Surely LL "squad" players should still be on a higher level than what they were up against.

Otherwise what is the point of having them if they are no better than EOS 1st Division standard.

Police have been saying for months there would be loads of them in Niddrie on Bonfire Night. It gave neds plenty of opportunity to organise themselves to chuck fireworks at them. Doesn't look like the neds were fighting amongst themselves.

Less overt policing next year would probably help.

If no Polis had been in attendance what do you believe those civilised children would have done with their scud missiles ?

These wee shites should be getting doused with water cannons IMO. Send them home to their parents cold, soaking wet and miserable.

No water cannons in the UK as far as I know.

Plastic bullets are apparently possible though.

Parenting skills of the highest scheme calibre (presumably the parents had to buy wee Johnny the Petrol and bangers).
