    Two Scottish dads have issued a warning to other parents about the potential dangers attached to school sports day.

    They both ended up in hospital after coming a cropper in the parents' race.

    Scott Hollas from Fort William ran his way to the A&E waiting room after joining in his daughter's school race.

    And Prof Donald Bloxham from Edinburgh ended up in an ambulance with three weeks off work after trying to replicate a previous victory.

    As the end of term approaches in Scotland, the pair told BBC News there may be pressure from your children to perform, but it does not always go to plan.

  2. American sprinter Tori Bowie, a three-time Olympic medallist and former 100m world champion, has died aged 32.

    Bowie won 4x100m relay gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics, plus 100m silver and 200m bronze.

    The following year, she won the global title over 100m at the World Championships in London, as well as relay gold.

  3. Not quite a celebrity but in the news nevertheless.                                                                                                                                              

    A man has died days after getting injured when he became stuck inside an indoor caving experience at a Lake District climbing centre.Carl O'Keeffe, 49, from Lancaster, became trapped inside a narrow tunnel at Kong Adventure in Keswick on 22 April. Specialist cave rescuers were among emergency crews sent to free him.    

    As he had only paid for the 2 hour experience an outstanding £120 charge remains unpaid.
