Maybe I'm misremembering but it was stand side, about the half way line. Certainly kicked up a bit of a fuss whoever it was.

Calum Moore's hand caught Kinlay Bilham' face, possibly by accident. Nonetheless Moore got himself away over the other side of the park very quickly. This was second half, roughly 10 yards from the half way line.

  2. I think Leeds and Cardiff have made a reciprocal agreement to charge each other’s fans only 21 quid when they travel this season, and the offer is open from Leeds to do the same with other clubs.

Mentioning this to illustrate the outrageous prices United are charging this season, and I think it reflects badly on the club.

Govan?  Play in blue and white.  They're in denial.

Benburb (the Glasgow version) played in green and white until 1919, when, like several other clubs of that time, changed their outfits due to concerns they would be associated with the Irish troubles of the time.

Two previous Glasgow clubs named Benburb, from Oatlands and Govanhill, also played in green and white. There were also clubs in Edniburgh named Benburb, including two named Leith Benburb.

"Benburb" has a strong Irish association: there was probably a very strong reason some clubs in Scotland chose to have Benburb as a symbol in their names. The Battle of Benburb took place during the Irish Confederate Wars, Scottish Covenanters and settlers being soundly defeated by the Irish Confederates who were resisting the imposition of Protestant settlers from Scotland and to a lesser extent England

  4. Perth Celtic were almost 100 years on the go when they went out of business during, I think, the 1988-89 season. They played at Jeanfield recreation ground, and had a cracking club close to Perth railway station.

Third worst, Queen's Park also finished below you. (You were 35th, right enough.)

Anyway, you got promoted the next season.

Look again, Vernon's not a Dundee United fan.

Mostly, and quite rightly, it's supporters of other clubs who are weighing in here in the last few days.

The growing apathy amongst the support is a real danger though.

This is something Ogren has to realise. I never bothered about the game tonight, looked in after the 90 to see the score, wasn't surprised and went back to my pint.

I'm still of a mind that Goodwin was apponted on a long deal back in March, probably by Asghar, and Ogren is too stubborn to realise his shortcomings. 'His' could apply to Goodwin, Asghar or Ogren, or any combination.

He shouldn’t have been given a two-year deal after being relegated. Lost our final 6 league games of the season; the only team to lose all post-split fixtures since it was introduced. If Fox was worthy of the punt after 7 successive defeats then Goodwin was as well.

I remain convinced he was offered a deal until the end of season 24-25 in March, contrary to reports from Tannadice that it was a short term appointment.

What other reason was there to keep him on at the end of the season?

  8. I don't want to be rude but idgaf about newspaper interviews and newspaper content.

The club should have communicated their information, in this case, directly to their customers.

In answer to @SGMilne, it's over 20 years since I paid for a newspaper. After the disasters the club has inflicted on supporters over the last year, they shouldn't have gone first to the press with tales of woe to renege on a promise to customers over their overpriced product.

He never got a move to a Premier League team though, did he?. He was signed as backup (with Luton 7th in the Championship) so they could send their own youth keeper the opposite way on loan and then failed to make a single appearance. Now that they are a premier league club he’s been punted at the earliest convenience.
I appreciate any keeper is an upgrade for yous at this moment in time but come on, eh?

The lad got injured in training early after signing for Luton. Agree it's a stretch to link Luton's success to him, but we're desperate for good keeper news.

I enjoy the banter with our neighbours from up the street,  in the same way I can have a laugh in the pub or work when there's a deserved slagging on the go. There's times you have to suck it up as you dished it out in the past. This is our glorious moment. I think it might last a while though.

That's where I'm at, luckily for me only one Dee drinks in the same pub, and he's a good lad.

And I think you are correct, our troubles may last a while, I'm usually quite balanced about managers but Goodwin hasn't gained my confidence........ (yet?).

  11. I'm not in the neutral camp regarding Fletcher leaving, for me he did put in the effort, but the managers (all three) didn’t play to his strengths, and given Goodwin is here presently as manager, I can’t see him readily changing his tactics.

Over and above this, Fletcher missed many chances which you’d expect your main striker to net, some of them in the ‘sitter’ class. Rarely did I hear or read of him being slated for that, because of course there were plenty of others in the team who didn’t put in the same obvious energy to their performances.

Pretty sure the Celtic player in centre of the picture is John Brown, he scored the winner in this match. He was from Clackmannan and started his senior career with Alloa. Went on to Chelsea from Celtic. His older brother William was the captain of Alloa when he was killed in a mining accident in Kennet in 1909.

John Brown scored one in Celtic's 3-0 win, Jimmy McMenemy got the other two.
