  1. Like many others I support fan ownership. And again like many others I am becoming increasingly concerned about what is happening with SMiSA. The number of Board and Chaiman changes has become unacceptable. We are being told about the changes but not the reasons behind it. If someone has the courage to take on a role then they should have the courage to say why they are stepping down. I get that people do not want to name individuals but a reason should be given why they no longer want to continue. The January statement to be more open and transparent has not materialised. If I don't get more information soon on what is really happening then I'll be transferring my monthly donation to the Charity Foundation. Tell the members what is going on.

Have said it before on here but the merits of finishing top 6 have always passed me by.

I guess that, when you've no chance of winning the league and a very, very slim chance of winning a trophy then it gives the club staff a target. Really though if you don't make Europe (top 5 probably) then the only difference between finishing 6th and 7th is the small amount of prize money. It's also a bit shite to have had a good season but to go into the last 5 games on a downer because of something constructed by the league which is actually fairly meaningless.

In practice.... for the fans? Finish 6th to "enjoy" another visit from Rangers and a potential title party at Parkhead? Alternatively, from the safety of 7th enjoy being part of the spectacle of the basement battle. Goodie and United relegated in Paisley perhaps?

If we're still in the hunt for Europe at the split then fair enough, let's go for it. If we're looking at a situation though where, after 33 games, we make the top 6 but 5th looks unattainable then..... meh. I'd take puffing on cigars watching someone else's dogfight.

Teams that get into the Europa Conference League get £3.3 million. That's worth aiming for.

  3. Home games have been great, Away games mostly awful besides at Hearts and Celtic in the Cup. At Home we are in opposition faces from kickoff. Away we sit back at kickoff and let the opposition dictate the first half, although a half time rocket often improves things. Why do we sit back at kickoff in Away games? SR says that is not the tactic so why do players do it? And we need a goalscorer.

  4. Main has been excellent this season in many ways but for me he still doesn't score enough - 6 League goals. Van Veen at Motherwell has scored 13 League goals and is also a handful up top. If we were pushing a boat out then I would go for him. I believe he still has another year on his contract and unfortunately Well no longer look like relegation material so probably only wishful thinking. But we need a goal scorer.

  5. Saturday was a bit of a surprise considering the shocking performance at Motherwell a few days before; half the squad injured and a bench of untried teenagers. However we blew RC away and should have won that by considerably more goals. Injury list is still horrendous and getting worse with Dec and Tanser taken off on Sat but one or two others may come back into contention. on the bench if not starting. Hard game but surely we have to start winning Away sometime?

Not sure Miller and Bonner's punditry skills are directly comparable.

Miller will happily call out AFC as much as praise us - if not moreso. He also felt the McCrorie incident was a red card.

Just because they played in the 80s, does that mean they should just be emptied?  The demographic of the Scottish fitba fan still includes a lot of guys who watched these guys.

As for Gallagher, he is an AFC reject.  A reminder of that is tomorrow's fixture when Motherwell come to town.  Gallagher absolutely $hat the bed each time he was up against Kevin van Veen, which I always found bizarre given THAT game vs Mitrovic in Belgrade.  I notice St Mirren didn't feel him worthy of a start either in midweek, so maybe he needs to enjoy his fairly inconsequential 92 minute goal against 10 knackered players more than most would.

Gallagher has been out injured last couple of weeks. Had to be on the bench as Joe Shaughnesy is also injured. But a half fit Declan still strolled it.

And a wee reflection for Dons fans. We were down to 10 men after 8 mins only a few weeks ago Away to Killie. We never gave them a look-in and should have won it but got a draw. Whereas Aberdeen conceded 3 and it could easily have been 5. Yea your performance was an improvement than Darvel but still pretty rank defending.

  7. In Aug Aberdeen beat St Mirren 4-1 when Gallagher was sent off after 20 mins. The sending off was hardly mentioned on Sportscene as all they did was heap praise on Aberdeen's new signings and how brilliant they were. Fast forward 5 months and same venue but this time an Aberdeen player (not a central defender) is sent off early in the game. But Sportscene focuses on the sending off and hardly mentions that St Mirren ripped them apart. Could easily have been a 1-5 scoreline. A wee bit of praise for St Mirren would have been nice (and justified). But then you'd have to kick Michael Stewart off the show,

  8. St Mirren have recalled three loans. Back are Lewis Jamieson from Airdrie; Kieren Offord from Alloa and Aiden Gilmartin from Cowdenbeath.

Very happy with the transfer window where the squad is now stronger and we have received a load of dosh with sell-on clauses. Not sure why Reid to Palace hasn't been announced as everything seemed to have been agreed yesterday morning.

To be honest Watt would be a great signing. If he screws the nut and plays as he can. Could be the difference between top 6 or not.

He left us under a cloud as he invariably does at all his clubs. But who cares if you get a fully motivated Watt for a short spell.

I would have taken him back at Fir Park because I am fickle and survival is more important than the past.

We will need to go for Lafferty now unless you get in their first 😉

Naw, Lafferty has never played for 'Well.

You guys would be better coming to Paisley on a Saturday to watch your old team.

  10. Got to say I am impressed with Small. Youngest every player to play in an Everton first team at 16. Left to join Southampton to increase his chances of first team football with Everton rejecting a £1.5m compensation fee. Made a start with Southampton in a Cup game last season. Plays for England U18s. The boy looks top drawer. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Edit to Add: Apparently Southampton had to pay £5m for Small! (from Football Insider).

To be fair we have brought in the guts of £400K - £500K today and we're bringing in 2 possibly 3 loan signings.

It's still going to be a fair investment as I imagine Watt will be on a tasty salary but getting Brophy off the books was massive and I guess the Cup bonus as well must have smoothed things out a fair bit.

I'm trying not to get too excited about Lowry until I see him signed!

Utd fan stating we have paid a £75k loan fee for Watt and are paying all his wages which seem to be about the same as we are paying Brophy. Surely not?

I'd imagine St Mirren won't have got him without covering most of his wages as he could have went to KV otherwise.

Maybe, but we shipped Brophy out to save money on his wages. Considering we are still paying a chunk of his salary and for a crocked Ayunga and was too late to sign Connor Shields on loan from 'Well, our first choice replacement (he went to Queens Park), I doubt we are pushing the boat out for Watt. But who knows.

  13. As far as I am aware there has only been one tweet about Baccus and that was to Wigan. However I have just read a tweet about Wigan wanting and making offers for 3 Hibs players which include 2 midfielders (Campbell and Henderson). I think Baccus will still be with us tomorrow.

Gogic is a better player than Erhahon and the midfield is far more dynamic and attacking when he starts so not bothered about Erhahon going. But we do need another striker if Ayunga is out. Preferably one that can score goals.

  14. The worst team I have seen this season is Killie. They played 88mins against us when we had 10 men (ref gave 6 mins extra time) and they were terrible. Square balls all over the park with absolutely no threat. Think Carson had one save to make. Their subs made their team worse if anything.

    'Well will be ok.
