I really liked Cowie at Hearts. He was a decent player with a great attitude, but he also seemed like a thoroughly good guy. Wish him well.
That precisely it. People want good things to happen to good people, and football is no different.

It's pointless using the games against Raith, IMO. The quality gap on show was too large.
I'm just finding the hype/belief in Cowie surprising. He has 4 wins in 15 in the league, one a win against Rangers that will be a struggle to repeat next season due to the situation Rangers were in. Lost 7 of the 15, and his points average was roughly what County managed this season anyway.
The way he conducts himself. The way he speaks. The respect players have for him, and, late goals notwithstanding, the massive improvement in performance by the end of the season. The gap between County and Raith is no bigger than between County and Partick. The level of professionalism is like and night and day.
I believe in Cowie because he’s such a good bloke as much as anything. Can’t really say that about at least one and possibly both of the last two.

Simon Murray scored 23 goals this season in a team creating next to no chances. He’d do a job for about eight or nine teams in the division.
There’s a reason he’s being linked with a move away, so if it happens I doubt you’d be paying much of a fee.
edit: I’m also fairly sure he’s got another year to go.

Let me revise. Could see Celtic going for him.

I should have put quotes around 'the most successful club in the world'.
Simply around club would have done.

From his perspective it makes complete sense.
Does he stay around in the hope of a better squad around him and risk another relegation season then just having to hope his reputation is as high as it is now and risk having to find another move after a relegation or move now if a good opportunity comes?
Fairly simple choice for him really.
Could see Celtic going for him, and you getting Bain.

Most of us want Adams in a job for a laugh. Malky can just do one.
Yep. Adams is a good manager. f**k knows what happened last time around though. He’d probably do a good job at ICT.

But that's what I'm driving at. MacLean took over a side that chucked it too and turned them around.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but from the outside MacLean never looked as if he particularly wanted the job. I think that’s the biggest difference.
That said, we have no idea what Cowie’s recruitment will be like so you might be right.

CYRIEL DESSERS faces an anxious wait to see if he will be fit for the start of next season.
Rangers fear that the striker tore ankle ligaments in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic.
Dessers had to be subbed at half-time after Cameron Carter-Vickers’ first-half challenge left him writhing in agony.
The 22-goal Nigeria cap left Hampden wearing a protective boot and will have scans in the next few days to discover the extent of the damage.
Dessers said: “I got injured in the first half, after around 25 minutes.
“It was the tackle from Carter-Vickers and it’s my ankle. I tried to go on because obviously it was the game of the year, the big final at the end of the season, one big push. But I had to come off.
“I’ll get it assessed in the next few days.”Six months on the treatment table then.

Don Cowie took over after the team downed tools at Motherwell. It’s a great deal more than manager bounce.

Blue Jays… oof.

I thought Jordan White was excellent today, really involved with play, took his goal well and was unlucky in the second half not to score another. I was advocating for Sims to start today instead of him.
6-1 was about right in the reflection of the two games, although we didn’t deserve to win 4-0 today and deserved more than a one goal lead on Thursday.
Really pleased that Don has been announced as manager next season (assuming he signs a contract) as he has done well in saving us from the Derek Adams car crash.
Overall an easy passage this year compared to last year, and hopefully with a transfer window to come he will take in a better quality of player.
Yan Dhanda, farewell our sweet Prince. An absolutely brilliant player and hopefully he has a great Hearts career, but if he doesn’t hopefully we can get him back at some point.
I can definitely see a situation where he’s back on loan next season.

Some of the loanees weren’t very good, were they?

Watching the highlights - absolutely sensational save by Laidlaw in the first half.

I miss Yan already.
Just saw his Tweet. Heartbroken. Still, proves the rule: if a player doesn’t post an Apple Notes message to the fans, it means he hates the club and was forced out.

I'm fairly confident that he's not out of contract. When he left us, I was told at the time we offered him another year, Dundee offered two, but County went in with 3 which is what made it quite an easy decision for him.
I heard that too. Which would be about right. Dundee could well have offered a fee, or County agreed to let him go. It’d be a family thing if so, and fair enough if that’s the case.

Could well be that Dundee have paid a fee for him.

If you replaced the players County have with other players, would the gulf have been so big? Who can say.
Another interesting hypothetical would be if you gave Raith all of County’s players, what would have happened? Again, there’s just no telling.

I understand it well enough to put a bit of context into a play-off situation which leads tp specific tactical decisions.
Murray had little choice but to take a big gamble. That's the format, and it's kidded a lot of people into thinking there's some huge gap between County and Raith. There isn't.
There really is. Raith had to take a gamble because Ross County kept scoring against them. Raith weren’t three goals down because they were gambling, they were gambling because they were three goals down.

I’d say County were clearly the better team the first 75 minutes of game one and last 45 of game two. The rest of the time the difference was not nearly as clear. Dhanda and Murray were absolutely difference makers on the pitch, switch those two to the other side and it becomes a very interesting question of how County would have done.
It just shows the problem Championship sides face in the playoffs, and why the success rate is so low.
The problem that they face is that they have to beat a much better team more, often than not, over two legs, to go up. Which, if you accept the playoff system, is how it should be.

The usual sites like transfermarkt seem to suggest he's out of contract. Can't see anything official.
I’d be very surprised if County paid a fee, however nominal, for 18 months of Simon Murray. Then again, it was Malkkky so anything is possible.

It’s not heavily weighted. It favours success. That’s all.
