Reality check for some. EK were strolling it. Could have been double figures. The seventh goal was not offside either. We only looked ok at the start because we had the help of the wind. Jordan gave the ball to them for each of the first three goals and we are awful in front of goal. We keep trying to walk it in. Some of our players still can't make simple basic passes.
No doubting that EK are far better and they should be with the resources they have and we had some players missing, but for me it's the lowest we have been. With this squad we will struggle to finish higher than mid table next season. No parachute payment and no cup money next season either. We regularly struggle against the better teams in the league and I don't see it changing.
On the plus side, the young lad Coventry looked ok when he came on. Not phased in any way and put the effort in.

The money men have been there long term so no reason to think they would pull out if Kilby went up.
The play off games are just a total lottery at times as witnessed by big spending Cove losing to us.
I would say Kilby are spending like an L1 side signing guys like Tiwi and John Robertson.
Yeah. It must be about 9 attempts splashing the cash trying to get up. You wonder how much longer they can sustain it.

MK is ok when you speak to him.
His persona during games might be completely different, but he is desperate to take EK up and chucking some of his own money at it as well, which must be fairly unusual. Normally it isn't the manager's own cash, it's someone else's.
For me, EK look nailed on to go up this season, but they do have the odd ropey game and you can't afford to do that in a nervy play-off. Clyde are mince (assuming they do stay bottom) and I think the Highland League teams still aren't good enough.
As for MK as a manager. I don't think he is particularly great. Without the far bigger budget, Darvel and EK wouldn't have dominated.
As for the calibre of player and the cost to recruit them, if in League 2. EK are already spending like a League 2 team, so the player costs will only increase if they try to buy their way out of League 2.
I hope they go up and hopefully it is then more evenly matched in the Lowland League next season. My worry for EK is what happens when the money runs out (or isn't enough to dominate) or the money men lose interest. They still don't have many fans and of course the ground situation needs addressing. Good luck to them (just let us win today though).

Hepburn was injured in the warm up and also not feeling well.
Poor again from us. Some of the team need to give themselves a shake. Can't make simple passes.
I thought Gregor knocked the ball home for the goal. It definitely didn't go in straight from the corner. One of our players just missed the cross and then someone bundled it home.

Hi everyone, i'm working with someone who is a graphic designer and illustrator working on illustrating as many of the kits we can in the world from 1980-90 and i'm covering the Scotland research.
I have looked around generally and cannot find any great pictures online on Google or other sites plus i have exhausted all the info in all the Clydesdale Bank books.
I was wondering if anyone on here is an ex player or a fan that goes back to the 80's of East Stirlingshire fc, has shirts and photos of them, home and away, and or photographs in colours of the squads and the players, in black and white too even?
Looking for photos of shirts, kits and players in the kits:
▪︎unsponsored Bukta
▪︎Bukta Centenary kits
▪︎All seasons and variations of Sun Life Of Canada kits
This would be a massive help for a fantastic project.
Thanks
Graham.
Old programmes are usually good for photos. Over 300 on eBay for shire from the 80's. Maybe if you contact some of the sellers and ask if there are photos in the ones that they are selling. You probably don't want to shell out for them though. I assume you have seen the historical kits website.

Have to say, the pitch at Forthbank looks in great condition. Apart from a dark patch in front on each goal, it looks like it has barely been used. Best pitch I have seen in ages.

The ball was out when it was crossed in.
That was their second disallowed goal you are thinking about. The first disallowed goal was a cross from the right side of the pitch, just outside the box and headed in. The one that was just over the line before he crossed it was the second disallowed goal, the tap in.

Looked good to start with and looked like it would be our day, but not clinical enough after taking the lead. Had chances to shoot and hesitated too often and the ball eventually cleared. Could have been about 7-6.
UoS better at passing the ball. We still head backwards way too often and faff about and lose it or just launch it. Still sloppy at the back. Hepburn dropped the crosses a number of times, but it was windy and rain blowing in his face. Rained the whole game and eased off at full time.
Donald looked composed when he came on. Good to see Mac1 scoring. If only he got more service like that. Wasn't a sending off for Rodden. Ref tried to say he caught the guy just below the knee. Stirling boy had to go. Booked for diving and then a yellow card for the tackle.
Would have been nice to progress, but better financially to be out.

All over. 4-2 again. Same as last season.

UoS down to ten men now. Second booking.

4-2. Good cross from Mac2 to Mac1 for a headed goal.

Five subs on at same time.

4-1. Stupid pass back and Hepburn had to dive at the guy's feet and let it slip for an easy finish.

I do wish Andy Rodden would stop getting himself sent off.
Should have been a yellow card at most.

3-1 now. Carving us apart easily.

Rodden sent off for what should have been a booking at most.

2-1 UoS. Carved us apart at the back.

Awful defending and still persist with the stupid pass backs. Really should have been 2-1 to UoS there. Good save from Hepburn.

UoS scored again, but luckily the ball was just over the touchline before the pass was made for the strike.

UoS scored a good headed goal there, but wrongly ruled out for offside. Still 1-1.

1-1 now. Headed goal at back post from corner. Nobody defending the back post. Two UoS boys waiting for the cross.

Sadly, it is not a surprise. I think we will do well to stay in tenth spot. The league is separating into two groups and probably the best we can hope for is to finish top of the bottom group of teams. I suspect Albion Rovers, Berwick and Gala will overtake us soon, especially if we lose to Gala.
