The thing is you can twist numbers to suit what point you want to make. We have all agreed that the defence is not good enough but yet I can throw the statistic we have kept 4 clean sheets in our 9 league games. Of the other 5 We have conceded 1 goal in 3 of those games. That’s is including trips to Queen of the South, Dunfermline and then Kelty. That does not seem like troublesome reading but what you watch on the park does not match what I’ve just wrote.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and i think I am probably harsher than a lot of others on here but I don’t want to look for positives just for the sake of and I don’t want to defend things when I don’t agree with what I see in games. I try not to do long posts but here is what I think. Yesterday we deserved to lose that game. As people mentioned we were wasteful in front of goal but so were Montrose first half. They obviously came out with agame plan to sit in second half similar to the play off second leg and again couldn’t deal with the pressure we put them under. They changed it and brought on some fresh attacking options and it won them the game after the subs we fell right back out of it. I thought we played well second half and I thought we were going to get a result before the Montrose changes but I can’t pretend we were unlucky though as to me it was a deserved home win. The small squad I believe is not a reflection on our manager of course he will have identified targets and if the club are not able to secure said players that is not the fault of the manager. As much as we all know our squad is desperately light signing 4 absolutely diddies or players who are not good enough just to fill the bench is a pointless exercise. Me personally I would like to see some youngsters get more of a chance but the gaffer will know far more than I do about who could be ready to step up. Maybe even bring in a few more part time players there is plenty good ones out there Where I do have an issue is how we have several mistakes in us every game and to be fair the young keeper has made some great saves and this has bailed us out on many an occasion. We try to play passing football and I love that and I have been very impressed with our play in most games but the constant errors at the back and from our keepers distribution has to stop. Despite what others say too not scoring enough goals is very very worrying. At QoS we should have had it wrapped up at half time but were lucky to escape with a point in the end. Alloa knocked us out the cup due to wasted chances. I go back to the cup game we lost on penalties to Edinburgh and then we have last night. I get there will be days where teams miss chances and it’s just not your day but that is 4 occasions already this season we have dropped points (league cup included) despite creating numerous opportunities if that trend continues then it could very well be another glorious failure of a season. I wouldn’t criticise individual players as I have seen them all play well and play poorly that is to be expected and some I wouldn’t play as regularly as they are doing but it’s easy for me to sit here and play armchair manager. Another thing I don’t like though is how the midfield looks since Telfer came in. I have no doubts he can play and no doubts he has ability but our midfield performances have dropped considerably in the last 3 games in my opinion. I wouldn’t even consider the idea of changing manager and as I say I am generally pleased with a a lot of what I see but there are massive worries and major issues that need addressed sooner rather than later.

What a shite drive home this is. Felt at 2-1 we would actually get something from the game and until Montrose made the changes we were by far on top second half. Number 16 changed that though with 2 goals and over 90 mins Montrose fully deserved it. That spell in the second half doesn’t make up for the poor play the rest of the game and the fall from grace the last few weeks is terrifying. Not going to bother singling out individual players for criticism it simply isn’t good enough all round and this squad is so lightweight from now till January could well be damage limitation.

Full credit where it’s due here for this second half so far.

We have actually created far more in the first half here than we did the entire game against Kelty which is worrying as we have been absolute pish. Could have scored a few could have conceded a few more too. All in all this is just dire. I know Gallagher is our best option but we badly need a striker still. Midfield since Telfer came into the side is all over the place and losing our best player after 10 mins didn’t help. Defence a shambles and keeper can’t play the ball on the deck his confidence is clearly shattered. so aye positive stuff all round.

I know we like to try pass the ball about but every week that back line and the keeper are a costly mistake waiting to happen. I wouldn’t slate the young boy and he has made some great saves but we need to stop putting the keeper under pressure with passes he clearly isn’t comfortable and his distribution is a major work in progress. Edinburgh and the tactics after going down to 10 aside that’s the worst I’ve saw this season. Created hee haw and look consistently shaky at the back. Austin upfront himself with little support yet he gave our back line a torrid time. We had 3 upfront that offered nothing. Gallagher has to go back through the middle quite simply. As others mentioned last few games the balance in the midfield is all over the place we were so slow in trying to create anything. Don’t want to hit the panic button as other teams are dropping points and we are only 2 points off top spot. If i was offered that pre season after a quarter of the games gone I would have taken it with who is in our league and been happy but I can’t shake the feeling of concern about how this season will go

3 on the bounce and 22/1 sounds very tempting to me too but I don’t want to burst it so I have Crystal Estrella at 11/1. On the paddy power offer Ebro River as I pray I see Rossa Ryan get a result today

As a lover off all things huge odds I have done something I never thought I’d do and that’s back a triple figure priced winner. Not a sky bet offer but I wanted to share this as it’s such a rare occurrence to see a winner at that price never mind having the fortune of backing it too.

Didn’t post last week and just as well. Got home from Dunfermline to see I was no where. Today both sky bet and paddy offer on the same race. Dubai Honour odds on favourite. I wouldn’t entertain that but making it’s all weather debut so hardly a shoe in either. Mostahdaf is 2/2 on the all weather and I was very very tempted but I have plumped for Irish raider Gear Up on sky bet at 15/2. With the other punt I actually fancy universal order to run surprisingly well at 40/1

I don’t think I’ve ever moaned about ticket prices ever considering we were always expensive. £40 to take me and my two boys who are 13 and 8 you can get that to f**k though. Add in my dad who is 73 and I’m £55 down rite away before I’ve even travelled.

If you offered me a draw at half time I wouldn’t have entertained it. Although Queens had a couple of chances I thought we were the better team and passed the ball about well. I was fairly happy at half time with Airdrie on top. Now had you offered me a point with 20 mins to go I’d have bit the hand off you for it. Queens after making the changes to bring on Todd and I think McKechnie looked a different side and we didn’t get the joy down the right after Rico going off. You can see the struggle we are going to have with a thread bare side. Queens made changes to get them back in to the game and we don’t have that luxury just now. Would have taken a point beforehand and that is still the case now home. A very encouraging start to the season. Currie made an arse of the goal but thought he made some cracking saves with his feet and Johnson looked to make a great save late on from the outside of the boot shot.

Didn’t get a chance during the week to look at much and todays racing doesn’t fill me with much enthusiasm so it’s just the offer races today before the football. Sky’s offer race looks garbage from a betting perspective and I had no faith in anything. Was tempted to go with a huge price outsider but couldn’t find anything to latch onto. After some consideration I’ve plumped for The Foxes at 8/1. Paddy Power are going with the stewards cup consolation race and the betting has it as a one horse race. Never been a favourite backer and Mokaatil at 18/1 will do me. Good luck today to anyone having a punt.

Bit late for a write up today Kinta and Omniqueen were my fancies for the offer race and went for a punt on Kind Gesture in the Betfair race.

I thought Airdrie did most things well last night and the score line obviously doesn’t reflect how the game went. We passed the ball about really well and created some great opportunities with good play. I thought the keeper wasn’t great for the Edinburgh goal and they didn’t really create much else so I had no major issues with the defending. Gave the ball away in the middle of the park sometimes but that will happen especially with the style Airdrie look to play. Didn’t know much about the young number 20 before last night but thought he grew into the game and showed good potential. He looks like he wants to be composed passer of the ball in the midfield who can deal with pressure and his reading of the game will grow as he develops. The obvious issue was poor finishing and some poor decision making in the final third but we we don’t have a natural goal scorer. We have some decent attacking options for this level who work hard and will chip in with goals but at this level it’s hard to get a natural finisher who scores goals week in week out.

Last week was an absolute disaster. Be Proud was second at 12/1 then it just got worse and worse. Better today hopefully and the offer races have me on Ouzo at 12/1, Lion Tower at 8/1 and Aricebo at 20/1. Only other bet so far today is Lord North at 25s in the Eclipse.
