The main defence of him here seems to be that he can cover multiple positions in the back 4. Can someone with a better memory than me recall how many times he’s actually done this?
The only time I can think of him playing at centre back this season was one of the top 3 worst Ayr games I’ve ever watched, at Cappielow in January.
He can cover centre half about as well as I could cover an incapacitated Boeing 747 pilot.
Literally played left back in our most recent game.

As Robbo says, he is good to have around in that he can fill a number of positions. Should he be starting in any of them for a team with designs on the top four? Absolutely not.

Francis Amartey must play in this fixture, Rovers cannae handle him.

Great win considering the team sheet looked like vision vomit. Will we ever see McGinley play? Is Dimi away?
No.
Yes.

Nevermind. Found the guy.

Who was that guy? He lost the plot at the end!

He was playing as a right back, and was good there?
Agreed, he was decent and McAllister was actually a better LB than RB!

So that marks 9 league games under Brown's tenure, I think (10 since he was appointed, but he was in the stand for the Arbroath win at home).
So with a quarter of a season under him, what's the general consensus? 5 wins and 4 losses is the record.
Do we feel we are starting to look quite safe? Are we confident going into next season? Is the jury still out? Is this squad just far too inconsistent to make a judgement on managerial ability so far?
Noticed this form table and couldn't believe it. This league is nuts.
I'm genuinely in disbelief at the form table there, we've been rotten for a fair few games under Brown. We're so inconsistent i just want us to secure Championship football next season and then see what happens. The random selection policy has me concerned but I can't argue with the form table.

Yuuuuuuuge three points and another step towards safety. Cannot fathom this team: one week we're totally lifeless and the next week we're throwing bodies on the line and winning every 50/50. Jamie Murphy was outstanding tonight, although McGinty also played very well and great to see him score in front of the cameras too.

How many times will Ayr get caught in possession at the edge of their own box? Last week it was 5 times but remarkably only led to single goal.
I'm also assuming that Sanders will be missing this evening, should Scott Brown stick to his usual "make a mistake and you're out" selection policy.

Grudgingly downloaded the app and its much better - the website is a farce.

Just had a look at the table and, incredibly, a win on Friday would take us within a point of the good playoffs. Scenes when we have Stanger & McGinty in the Premier league next season!

Far more people at the game yesterday than at Inverness.

Thankfully Musonda is out of contract, I imagine he'll sign for someone else in this league or go back down South.
The highlights are an infuriating watch. McHugh (x2) and Stanger (x2) losing the ball trying to play out from the back in the first half before Sanders fully commits to the bit and we lose yet another needless goal. It really was one way traffic: players not getting close enough, crosses coming in unopposed, attackers running through us without being checked... Just an all round clusterfuck of a performance.

How good was Dom Thomas' little dink off the bar though? That would have been some goal. We were so poor I'd have been happy to see it go in.

How many of these imposters are we stuck with? I'm honestly fed up with them.
Stanger, Dempsey, Syla, Murphy, McGeady and Bryden?

What on earth was that temper tantrum from Paton about at full time?
Proper heads gone effort
You could see there was a reaction to something someone said to him in the second half, he was looking in to the SRE as we were taking a goal kick. He was obviously pretty upset about whatever it was but it was a bit over the top. Perhaps if any of the Ayr players showed as much fight as Paton we'd not be losing 2-1 going on 5-1 at home to Queen's Park.

I'm seriously concerned about this entire charade with Brown, however if the GK coach is away then that's great news.

Can only piss with the cock you got is my opinion. I'd give him the summer and his own team before wanting to move on to anyone else.
Squad management is a shambles. If he was a bald man with a gilet you'd all be going fucking mental.

Scott Brown doesn't have a scoob. Pass it on.

Came through eventually, normally pretty much instant but took a good 20 minutes today. All sorted

Yeah think so, they trialled a new one at the Ayr v Celtic (woman’s) cup game that apparently went well.
That was Fanbase, seems like most clubs are using it these days. I've just ordered a ticket for someone and not got it through either.

Maybe some players are carrying knocks ( does not mean to say they are injured to the extent of participating for a small part of game )
Hmm. McGinty makes crucial error in previous game and then is dropped for the following match. It does seem a bit of a coincidence, does it not? If it were a one off I'd be inclined to agree with you but there is certainly a pattern with Brown and I am concerned it won't hold up long term without damaging squad morale and ultimately results.
That being said, the team he put out got a massive win and that's never a bad thing, the humble pie went down a treat with a nice bottle of plonk.
