  1. There is a lesson for the board in this sorry mess, regardless of whose fault it was. Rovers should be running a rainy day fund as a matter of policy where money is set aside for an emergency should it arise. That way when Locke came to the board asking for money to sign Crawford, Syme, Roberts, Skacel and Stevenson he should have been told to bolt.
  2. He's in very good company. You can see the goals and vote for Ryan's here.
  3. Interesting that Hughes describes McBride as a total football man. Unbelievable that with the exception of the McKinnon season we've had more than a decade of graduates of the Jim Jeffries school of football and now, within the space of a week, we've got not one but two 'total football men'. If only that could last a decade. Deadline News link
  4. Hughes in today's FFP. Fingers crossed that he completely changes the way we play and gets us up the league again.
  5. He'll need to do a bit more than that. Only 3 teams have scored less goals than us to date in Scotland - Kilmarnock, Ayr United and Edinburgh City. Even down in the Highland and Lowland leagues every team has scored more than us and that places us 73rd out of 76 teams in terms of goals scored. It would be simplistic to say it's all the fault of the forwards because the midfield has been rank rotten, creating next to nothing all season and the defence has been guilty of hammering the ball up the park since Calderon left. Hard work lies ahead for Hughes sorting that mess out.
  6. That's excellent news. I used to watch Livingston play us off the park game after game and hoped and dreamed I'd see a Rovers team play like that. We've had long ball crap for too many years now.
  7. There is absolutely nothing bizarre about playing it out from the back and who gives a a fuck what happened in one game against Dunfermline over 4 years ago. Fact is his Inverness side were undefeated in 80 of about 120 Premiership league games. That'll do for me.
  8. That table linen looks like the bed sheet left by the Pars supporter.
  9. It isn't hoofball and that's all that matters to a Rovers' supporter.
  10. Official We are delighted to announce the appointment of John 'Yogi' Hughes as the new Raith Rovers manager. http://Www.
  11. Whilst we await confirmation have a read of this review of Locke's tenure at Stark's.
  12. Brian Rice was his assistant manager at Inverness. Don't know if he's still there but if it's just to the end of the season he might just have to go with Craig Easton or Scott Robertson to keep the costs down.
  13. I've criticised the board, and in particular Eric Drysdale, a lot recently but fair play to them over this appointment. We couldn't have hoped for anyone better to dig us out of this mess - in fact it could have been a whole lot worse.
  14. To be confirmed this afternoon according to Deadline News.
  15. Are you sure you'd want Lennon? He did a Locke at Alloa at the start of the 2015-16 season, taking only 5 points from a possible 48. He then walked away in December 2015.
  16. The date below is not correct. This was how things stood on 12th May 2016, about a week before Locke was appointed. That CV of his and his strong performance at interview did him a power of good, not to mention his knowledge of sports sciences, his innovative use of video coverage, his ability to work within a budget and last but not least his ability to pull the wool over the board's eyes.
  17. He didn't arrive until December. Bit like coming in at St Mirren this season and trying to keep them up.
  18. A favourite of mine would be Gary Bollan. Won the second and first divisions with Livingston and was doing well enough in the Championship when given the bullet for 'not playing enough youngsters'. Running away with the second division again with Forfar and not even quoted on McBookie.
