Maybe that's how he pronounces it.

I don't think it's colonialist to not make the effort to learn players' names, I do think it's lazy and a bit unprofessional. There's only about 16 of them in any one game. It isn't hard and it also tells us watching at home a wee bit more about the countries we're watching.

The one that really annoys me is De Bruyne, every week on motd you'll hear De Broinyah as if they're trying too hard to sound like they've nailed the pronunciation when it's much simpler than that - it's pronounced De Brown-uh.

Commentators sound like such wankers when they show off that they know how one player's name is pronounced in their home country and then just butcher the pronouncations of every other player in the team. Norwegian, Spanish, Georgian, etc commentators and fans aren't going to be pronouncing the Scottish players' names the same way Scottish people will. It's fine.

Aye absolutely, case in point the Dutch guy last night when the 2nd goal went in shouted "Mcleeeen" and I was totally fine with that because it was an absolute beauty of a goal.

I watched a video about him, filmed in his home town, where everyone they interviewed was pronouncing it like that. They were saying Erling differently as well.

Similarly, when Johan Cruyff, died I watch a lot videos from his Ajax and Feyenoord days and was stunned to hear every single Dutch commentator pronouncing his name as 'Crouff' 'with the crou' pronounced as in 'crouch'.

I watched the game on Dutch TV and the Dutch commentator pronounced Haaland the way most of us have been pronouncing it, kind of weird you'd think saying Holland would be easier, you're spot on with the Cruyff pronunciation.

  4. I'm approaching a big birthday and think I'm possibly having a minor midlife crisis but instead of going down the traditional route of buy a sports car, having an affair or buying a Harley I've spent the last few months going trainers daft.

That's the Dutch professional leagues now fully finished for the season. In the Europa Conference League play-off final, Twente won 1-0 against Sparta, 2-1 on aggregate. In the promotion/relegation play-off final Almere City won 1-2 at Emmen, 4-1 on aggregate, to get promoted.

Almere become the first ever club from the province of Flevoland in the Eredivisie, taking the place of Emmen who became the first ever club from the province of Drenthe in the Eredivisie 5 years ago. Zeeland is the only one of the 12 provinces left to never have had a top flight team. That's unlikely to change any time soon though as their strongest side are only midtable in the 4th tier.

The city of Goes should form a partnership with a certain team from Deventer and become Goes Ahead Zeagles, sorry flauwe grap the heat is getting the better of me.

I'm just listening to Belle and Sebastian the boy with the Arab strap album. Really enjoying it despite never listening to a second of them before.

Now I see they have 12 studio albums.

Not sure which album of theirs to listen to next.

Start off with Tigermilk then If you're feeling sinister.

Ah the Foodhallen nice one, I actually ordered from Viet View yesterday.

I don't even recall mentioning the Foodhallen but it would definitely be one of my recommendations.

  10. I consider myself fortunate to have seen Bobby Linn in action on a couple of occasions, great player and I thought he was brilliant in the last game v Hamilton.

I was at the game against Forfar, I think it was the 2018/19 season, where scored a hat trick including a lovely free kick, I spilled pie grease down my jacket applauding that goal.
