I think it's fair to say that over the last few years we have had certain players in our squad who have went down a bit easily. That has to be counting against us in the minds of the referees and is definitely not being helped by Zannatta's antics this season.
For me Buchanan and Spence have both been disappointing. Spence hasn't improved at all since his previous spell while Buchanan's got some nice touches but his finishing is pathetic. Zannatta can just not bother coming back.
So far we've needed an injury time equaliser against Alloa, drawn with the worst side in the league and lost to Albion Rovers. When we win we seem to win will but we don't seem to have an ability to eke out wins in the tight games.
Nobody trusts our board (or at least the previous board) so whenever this undisclosed nonsense comes out it's no wonder there is suspicion. The David Bates transfer is a case in point.
What level was that? Challenge tour? I see Syme has been given an invite to this week's event in Spain but unless he wins it he's bound for the lottery of Q-school in a few weeks.
Finished with a course record 61. Tyrell Hatton retained his title. Marc Warren finished tied 4th with Stephen Gallacher tied 12th and Connor Syme continuing his excellent start to his professional career with a top 15 finish.
Ramsay was actually off in the penultimate group with Dunne but couldn't buy a putt all day. Overall though yeah it's very poor. There is always the odd player that breaks into the top 50 in the world on the back of a good season but none can sustain it. It's not asking too much to have at least one player as a steady top 50 player surely? Even Russell Knox has dropped well down the rankings and he looked as though he might have been the man to consistently stay there. Maybe Ramsay will get there if he continues his progress. It's the Dunhill Links this week though and generally I think the Scottish players have a good record there.
To be fair Richie Ramsay was tied 8th and Marc Warren and Stevie Gallacher were in the top 20. That's better than the average tour event result. No winners on tour so far this year though although Richie Ramsay has been in good form since the summer and is roughly 20th in the Race to Dubai.
Played my first round in over a year yesterday at Ladybank. Lovely day but quite probably the worst round of golf that I care to remember. Scraped one par but for the most part blundered my way round in 6s and 7s with the odd 5 chucked in now and again.
