Where did you hear this? Never really been that impressed by him against us but he's got a good track record at this level and I'd be happy to have him on board. It may also help us persuade Cardle to sign as well.

He'd be a big gamble with his injury history. Is Andy Barrowman still at Dundee? I'd take him.

I wonder if Murray has signed Elliott with a view to playing him behind the main striker, the sort of role Clarke played a few times last season. Pleasantly surprised to see Murray making a decent attempt at addressing our midfield issues. Assuming McGurn puts pen to paper I reckon we need a good centre half to replace Mensing, a left winger (Cardle please) and 2 strikers and we'll be looking alright. You would have to think we must be pretty close to having some further deals tied up for the club to be putting out a statement like that. I noticed Kevin Moon saying he was impressed by Murray's plans for next season so hopefully we've got a few decent players lined up. Well that leaves us with Murray, Hill and Ellis as potential centre backs now - hardly an ideal situation. Murray would only be getting used in an emergency you'd think so we need at least one guy in who'll be first choice alongside either Hill and Ellis. Factor in some inevitable suspension time for Hill and it would be useful to have someone else in the squad who can play there as well. The only positive regarding Mensing is that his decision has been made early so we can crack n on with finding a replacement - you'd have to think Andy Dowie would be an obvious target. I'd take Steven Craig - maybe he thinks he's got unfinished business at Rovers! I would've been happy to get Gordon Smith onboard as well but Moore has links with him from Stirling and it looks like he'll sign for Morton. Can't recall what Dowie is like but we apparently tried to sign him in March so it must be a possible. I noticed Sean Higgins was released by Falkirk. He's got a reasonable track record in the 1st division although he didn't seem to make much of an impact there last season. Josh Watt may also be on Murray's radar now he's been released by Motherwell.

Where does that come from? You could possibly make a case for clueless if you wanted to but I'm not aware of him ever being classless?

Good news about Thomson. I reckon he'd have been a priority signing for almost every Rovers fan.

The match at Stranraer the week after (I think) was worse. We missed a load of chances then from memory they scored due to a short pass back. That was a long drive home.

Cardle may not often beat his man down the line with sheer pace, and he may cut inside far too often, but he's got a good football brain, a good first touch and he can pick out a pass. Could be. I thought maybe Murray has offered contracts to 3 forwards eg Graham, Spence and AN Other signing target and has no room in his budget for Clarke at present but will do when Graham rejects our offer and goes elsewhere. If he didn't want Clarke to stay I'm sure he'd have just released him along with the other three.
