  1. Watched the game today and Smith did quite well, probably more effective than Walker was. When he was with us he always struck me as the sort of player that if he beat his man early on he'd go on and have a good game while if he didn't he'd end up disappearing for the rest of the game. 2. Had a quick look on soccerbase and it looks as though he didn't miss a game from signing on loan in October 2006 through to October 2009. A rough count would be over 120 games if that is the case. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  3. Was Wilson not injured earlier that season, hence the lack of appearances? I think his run of consecutive games may have been from signing for us. It might even have been as much as 100 games. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  4. You mean Fox or Moon > > > > Anderson + Walker surely? As for our prospects this season, we can't get too carried away given the standard of opposition, but this side looks a serious upgrade on last seasons. It'll be interesting to see how we measure up against a decent team next week. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  5. Missed the Hibs match but managed to get along to the rest of our friendlies and it's hard not to be cautiously optimistic about this season. Booth looks a major improvement on Malone, Fox and Moon the same over Walker and Hamill/Anderson and Cardle has been excellent so far. Hopefully Watson settles in at centre back which would leave the void left by Brian Graham as the only question mark over the team. Cue a home defeat by Stirling next week..... 6. Division 3 awaits. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  7. Too late, he's signed for Montrose. Even Marv is sorted for next season, we're knackered!
  8. Bonar only made 3 sub appearances for alloa. He's done nothing in his career to suggest he's up to the first division.
  9. Although I thought we shouldn't have been holding off for Cardle I'm well pleased we've finally got him signed up. If we can get a centre half on board, and still have money left over for a couple of loans to bolster the squad when we need them, we'll be in as good a position as could've been hoped for going into the new season. 10. So long as we're not putting all our eggs in the one basket.
  11. We'd be better forgetting about Cardle and concentrating on targets who won't muck us around. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  12. Weatherston seemed to be playing out wide for Falkirk. Could be Murray sees him doing the same for us while also possibly being an emergency forward. If we signed Naysmith then that would mean Booth playing in midfield which would probably negate the need to sign Weatherston. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  13. Who is McCracken? Can't say I've ever heard of him? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  14. I would guess he was also referring to potential new signings who have signed for other clubs. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  15. I doubt he'd offer us much going forward. We need a winger, whether Cardle or someone else.
  16. We've missed the boat already. Scott McBride has signed back with East Fife and Robert Sloan has joined Boness.
  17. Darren Barr regularly played for Hearts last season and even played for Scotland a few years ago. There is no chance he'd even consider signing for us. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  18. You mean Craig Barr? I'm happy with the signing of Smith. He impressed me a lot when he was at Stirling. He's not scared to put himself about and he also has an eye for goal. On paper, him, Elliot and Spence give us a decent forward line. If we get Cardle and a decent centre back in we'll have a fairly high quality, if somewhat small, squad.
  19. He'll hopefully fulfill the criteria of a Rovers left back - don't cross the half way line and never, ever get ahead of the left winger.
  20. I'd have no problem with Fox being made captain. It's not like we have a load of outstanding candidates among our existing squad. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  21. Donnelly is awful. You'd be better off with Paul McManus. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
  22. I've also got some doubts about him. He got torn apart by that Falkirk winger in the last home game of the season, although the times he came off the bench he did well enough. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up recruiting a left back on loan in January.
  23. Last week there was a report in the courier which said we had offered contracts to Cardle and Clarke. That's the only time I've seen any mention of Clarke being offered a deal though. Hill was a good player alongside Campbell but he's never been the same since he broke his ankle. He's as guy that should be playing for the East Fifes or Brechins of this world. 24. It must be the case that we'll have access to this training facility rather than actually owning it. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Pie & Bovril mobile app
