Booth has gone missing in recent months like the rest of the side. It's a tricky one cos our better players like McGurn , Watson and Elliot have spent large periods of time out injured.
I'm starting to feel the same.
We probably only need one win to secure our first division status but I can't see where it will come from. Maybe sacking Murray would get a couple of decent results out of the team as a reaction. It could be our only hope.
This is why the signing of Mullen was so inexplicable. We didn't need a right back nearly as badly as we needed a centre back or a wide midfield option but Murray signed him anyway.
We will almost certainly be relegated next season (if not this season) if he remains in charge.
We will no doubt lose our better players over the summer and be left with dross like Robinson, Cardle, Spence, Fox and Smith. It's a frightening thought.
I was in the main stand today and spent a bit of time watching Murray. He looked absolutely helpless.
I also thought the body language of several of the players was awful. There is something going badly wrong just now.
The fact that we are in a position where we would now bite hands off for sixth says it all. If we fail to beat Morton I wouldn't be comfortable leaving the rest of the season in the hands of the current coaching staff.
Graeme Smith has announced his retirement from international cricket effective from the end of the test match. Maybe that will inspire South Africa to dig in for a draw but their chances look slim.
If we lose against Morton in two weeks I'd be surprised if he has any support left amongst the fans. The board seem to be behind him though and handed him a two and a half year contract in December so I think he'll be left to see it through.
Hill didn't seem too badly injured at the end of the match so hopefully he'll be fit for Saturday. Watson can't be far away from a reserve game now either.
I was impressed by Mullen on Saturday. First time I've seen him play and he was solid defensively but still managed to get forward a few times. He certainly seems to be an improvement on McCann and probably Thomson on current form.
I wonder if Robinson will come straight in as first choice once his clearance comes through or if Laidlaw will keep his place until he makes a mistake.
I think it'll be Smith as well. I don't think it's a role that's suited him on the odd occasion he's had to play it this season, but Spence is even less suited to it and I just can't see us playing with 2 forwards.
