  1. I thought he scored not long after signing for them. According to sky sports he has scored 1 goal in 15 appearances for them. Ferry has scored 6 goals in 17 though.
  2. Happy to see the board have finally come up with a price that offers season tickets at a decent discount. I'll definitely be buying one.
  3. Generally I tend to think that fantalk isn't quite as bad as is made out on here, however, there are definitely times where it leaves you lost for words and there are a couple of examples of that in the general forum at the moment.
  4. Sorry to hear about Phil Burn. He was just breaking into the side when I started going down to Starks so would have come through roughly at the same time as players like Shaun Dennis and Ian Ferguson. It would be nice if there is a tribute at our next home game.
  5. According to the FFP Dundee actually beat Ayr on Tuesday night so that's a handy bonus for us.
  6. I hadn't noticed that the old fixtures database has disappeared. It was always good to relive some of the highlights of recent years like Wales' goals against Peterhead and Brechin, Ferry's late goals from the same season and of course our wins against the pars. There was also no better cure for a defeat than looking back at one of the match report from the Dalziel era to see how bad things could get. Hopefully the archive will be transferred over eventually.
  7. That must be some sort of record? Seven players on loan from the same club in one season. Donaldson has looked badly in need of a rest so the Thomson signing makes sense. I assume the lad Stewart is more likely to be cover.
  8. Rumours on fantalk (via a hearts forum) that a J Thomson and J Stewart are joining us on loan. I assume that would be Jason Thomson but no idea who Stewart is.
  9. Good to see ex Rover Richie Brittain help us out last night. Time for us to kick on this weekend and start buildingup some momentum.
  10. Agree, it's a horrible thing to happen, but nothing to do with Rovers at all.
  11. I'd like us to take a chance on a first time manager next season (assuming McGlynn doesn't do enough to warrant a reprieve) and I think that's what we will do. It'll probably be all we can afford in any case. Is Craig Ireland still in charge of the under 19s? If so, maybe he'd be a candidate. Otherwise it'll be a player at the end of their career eg Grant Murray if we're looking to promote someone from within.
  12. Another chance to gain an elusive win slips by. It's become pretty much essential that we win at least one of our two home matches before the Ayr and queens matches.
  13. Another worry recently is the way we've started the 2nd half of matches. It cost us dear last week and now this week as well. I'm sure I could find examples without going too far back in time as well. Its as if McGlynn just can't motivate them.
  14. Lets not make livi out to be anything special. Once they got 2 or 3 ahead they played well but they were absolutely there for the taking first half and we didn't even manage a shot on target. I've got no real faith we can finish above both queens and Ayr so we need to look at the teams above them and see if any of them are catchable. The next few weeks are huge for us. We know it, lets hope the players do as well.
  15. If the board are desperate to stay up then they must make a decision about the boss soon. We have a run of games coming up against the teams around us in the league and if we don't get a decent return from them we're done for. After today my confidence in us getting enough points together to stay up has pretty much gone. The only problem would be finding a manager able to get an instant response out of the players.
  16. I notice Eric Drysdale has posted a lengthy reply on fantalk. http://www.raithfantalk.co.uk/
  17. Just read the article in the FFP. According to Hutton the situation is now "hugely worse" than in September when the open meeting was held and crowds are down on even the revised estimates set by the board. In addition the £80k loss projected in September is likely to be doubled come the end of the season. I'm really not sure how can this be. Since the meeting our crowds haven't gotten any worse as far as I can see so I'd love to see what rationale the board use when calculating their crowd projections. The majority of the 11,500 drop in attendances is due to losing the Pars games, the rest of this will be due to a combination of poor, poor football and entertainment and also the recession - the drop in away supports this season has been pretty noticeable. Can any of this have been that hard to predict? The board knew Dunfermline were in the SPL this season, they knew there is a recession and people have less expendable resources, and they knew we had cut back our squad and it was likely results and performances would suffer (although admittedly maybe not as much as they actually have). It's not good enough and the Board and FFP can point the finger at the floating fans all they like but when you combine the current economic climate with the sort of crap we've served up this season you're never going to tempt any of them to come along on a regular basis.
  18. I'm hoping we can at least extend the loan deals of Smith and Walker today. In an ideal world a right back would come in handy as well but that won't happen.
  19. We did play them away in a midweek league cup game around that time. We got hammered 4-0 and I can't remember much about it other than relentless booing of Jackie McNamara during the game. We played them 2 or 3 years before that at Parkhead in a Scottish Cup game as well. The new stands were still being built so there was a reduced capacity. We were up in some far flung corner of one of the new stands. We did give them a half decent game from what I remember but lost 1 or 2 nil I think. The main reason we never get the old firm is that we rarely make it into the main draw in most cups
  20. Wasn't at the game yesterday but I noticed on the TV highlights that Williamson played a great wee flick through to Baird when we got our penalty. It's not much of a compliment really, but he's been easily our most competent midfielder this season.
  21. If he is half the player he looked in his loan spell then he'll be a good signing. Having the choice of him, Baird, and Clarke up front would be as good an option as any other side. Logically though you have to imagine that Baird is on the verge of leaving and there is also the worry that at times it looks as though we won't score no matter who we have up front such has been the dire nature of our play. Despite this at least we all have a bit more hope to cling to now.
  22. I don't see many people complaining about us struggling, it's the manner of the struggle. It is soul destroying watching a team who seldom even look like creating a chance never mind scoring a goal, where is the excitement in that? At least if we were missing chances we could take some consolation from the fact we had been creating them but we're not even doing that. It's just hellish to watch, and it's no wonder fans are starting to stay away. the first two games after we signed the three Hearts players we won 3-2 then lost 4-2. Ok we lost a few goals but we scored some as welll and at least there was a bit of value for money in those games. Since then McGlynn seems to have choked the life out of the Hearts kids so that they no longer want to beat a man anymore. The result - back to the usual 1-0 home defeat. Like most Rovers fans I'm no stranger to relegation battles but I'm sick fed up of watching this side.
  23. If it's going to take him three goes again I'd rather we gave someone else a chance. If we go down he'll have failed and his time will definitely be up.
