  1. It might seem disappointing that there was no avalanche of 'new' information in Thomson's report tonight, but there's definitely reason enough to feel positive. Compared to relying on the local, usual suspects to dig up anything, this well-respected, award-winning reporter seems to have none of the fear for his future that obviously hampers the local hacks. His position in the public eye has already badgered UEFA into talking to him (after he baited them on Twitter) and he will force the key players closer to accountability. He clearly understands the succulent lamb problem and has referred to it in his blog, yet is not constrained by it; he was thorough in canvassing the views of fans on all sides too. In my view this is a great step towards progress as the uncomfortable questions will be asked, and the SFA will be held to account if they do not act responsibly. There might not be new info yet, but this is a step forward from counting on 'paranoid' bloggers lacking clout. (FTOF)
  2. That had occurred to me too. Perversely I would be interested to see what happened but I don't wish any danger upon innocent folks.
  3. Just came back to post that Twitter hing but I've been beaten to it. Not true after all it seems - did mean to imply it was a rumour and nothing more, like.
  4. Just been reading that on Friday past Poppyscotland were added to the list of RFC's creditors.
  5. The Number 23 Absolutely rotten! Jim Carrey isn't even the problem really, even if he is an awkward cast in an attempt at psychological thriller. In summary, a guy bored in his job reads a novel and is convinced it's about him (leading to various events/death etc) Whole cast is utterly wooden, big plot jumps, no subtlety, script is mega naff. Drastic - avoid. 2/10
  6. The Woman in Black You know, watching a 12A, that you're not about to see blood and guts, but this was still suspenseful and I enjoyed it. There is a TV movie of the same book from 1989 which I've seen many times and really like - proper scary given that I was quite young when I first watched. This new film is apparently truer to the book. Daniel Radcliffe is slightly young for the part of the solicitor but plays it well. There is an irony in him probably trying very consciously to escape Harry Potter with this, yet ending up playing a character that by morals and 'doomed' fate is really pretty similar. As well as the horror/ghost element there is a broader family/loss type theme that is quite well evoked. Decent direction and visually pretty good. 7.5/10
  7. Any truth in the rumour that Rangers are due Burnley £500k if Lafferty plays 100 games (he's on 98)?
  8. Lemonheads playing It's A Shame About Ray, on Monday. Flying solo, which I've not done before.
  9. ...but if we have to have the North open, then we have to have it open.
  10. This comes up fairly often and usually someone says we are obligated to open it because of the Football Trust funding towards its construction.
  11. Same. Didn't think I'd make it but today learned I'm going. Last time I saw 'them' I was disappointed but now I think I've come to terms with it not being the old Pumpkins, more like a new Corgan band really - and i think some of the new stuff is really decent. My pals are supporting so naturally I would urge anyone going to go early, they are brilliant (Ringo Deathstarr).
  12. If what I'm told is true then JD effectively did several jobs at once for the club, and would be within his rights to feel a bit aggrieved. Not to imply you're having a go at him, at all.
  13. The Lovely Bones (on TV, I'm captive away from home) - 3/10 Brutal. That horrible whispery, melodramatic voiceover was nearly unbearable. I hate this kind of crap. It's actually got me quite angry.
  14. I raised this a month or two ago but I think everyone fell asleep. I'd love to see it. Effing love Laurie Ellis, I do. Apart from Ronnie's match, who was the most recent recipient of such a game? I can mind Andy Leigh's v Coventry and Dalziel's v St. Johnstone.
  15. It's not a question of gambling though, is it? What kind of team do you want to go and support?
  16. I half-expect a whooshing here, but in case there's any doubt: If the Rovers took Thomson, I wouldn't be going and neither would my dad.
  17. I was wittering about the implication that Gomez aren't successful - which is obviously false. I looked to me like they've been doing very worthwhile, profitable tours and are continuing to do so. You surely realise it's no great concern to most bands whether they have 'hit' singles and that those are no barometer of mid- or long-term popularity. Re Scotland, the venues that suited them (most likely in the eyes of their booking agent) might not have been available to fit in with their tour schedule.
  18. Are these posts about Gomez a wind up? I'd have thought sustaining a career into a fifteenth year and still playing to 500+ in more than one continent would be considered a success. But then I also read that Andy Murray is shite and the 5th brawest out of Girls Aloud is a pig,
  19. It's true that the kits were a lighter blue, certainly 88-91 and possibly more than that, but IMO that was a mistake and should be avoided. I could be wrong, but I like to think part of our identity is not being a 'certain kind of club' - wearing a darker blue is in turn part of that. That said, if it is true for next season then it might well be too late anyway.
  20. We just can't afford to pay these guys over the summer. I think Wilson will be a big miss. The value of his pace and resultant ability to recover from errors or loss of ground especially. Undervalued in terms of positioning too, IMO. Could do a job for a better team than us, and we are unlikely to acquire anyone better. I might be in a minority but I like Simmons in the team and would be pleased to see him re-sign. Ferry is a difficult one. Great feet and brain but just that little bit slow.
  21. I thought the club would perhaps have a loose requirement or even just a known precedent. I don't think Dalziel was there ten years but had a testimonial v St. Johnstone; I also remember Andy Leigh's (gawd knows how many years) v Coventry.
  22. Who's for a Laurie Ellis testimonial? Anyone know the requirements; years of service etc?
