  1. A half strength Highland league side as well it must be said.
  2. You are wasting your time trying to engage with that single brain cell.
  3. Looks like Ray is going down the route of not conceding rather than scoring this season. Is that 4 centre halfs you have got now ?
  4. From what I can make out, the SPFL is based on preserving 4 matches against Celtic and Rangers in the premier league as Doncaster's only selling point for whatever paltry sponsorhip deal he can muster. The other 3 leagues and the flawed pyramid don't really come into Doncaster's equations . The SFA seem to realise that change might be good but even they are fixated on making sure that Celtic and Rangers are kept sweet first and foremost. Doncaster has maintained that the 42 team league will remain and is obviously banging that drum at league meetings. After all, he managed to convince his fellow spfl board members to spread the armageddon warning when trying to fit the new Rangers at the highest level in the league system.
  5. I don't follow your logic. Surely all 14 teams would be trying to finish as high as possible in the league to gain more prize money ? More saddening though is you thinking the conference has any place in Scottish football at all.
  6. Spot on. Maybe someday Neil Doncaster will actually admit he was wrong and not try to block league expansion at every opportunity................or maybe I'm just being optimistic.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong but with a 10 team league you only get 9 places to visit whereas.........
  8. I was referring to supporters of all clubs not just ours. My points were suggesting that league 2 is perhaps not fine as it stands and could be managed better to promote more chances for youth players to develop rather than the colt idea.
  9. The whole point of this thread has obviously been lost on you. The first battle has been won in staving off the ridiculous Conference . The next battle is to convince the authorities that there are other options out there for young up and coming talented players other than having this colt team concept which they think is exclusive to the premier clubs. Perhaps having an 18 team league would give a lot more teams the opportunity to play younger players without the continual fear of relegation looming over them. It would also negate the need for colt sides in the SPFL set up altogether.(a reserve league would be more benefit to them ) . There would obviously be the play off places at the top of the league and hopefully a fairer relegation system at the bottom to create a real pyramid . For the SFA to only have one choice to vote on with no other option to consider is somewhat ridiculous . I would hope that the feedback from clubs and supporters realise this and come up with a fairer solution that doesn't alienate the bottom 200 or so clubs in the so called current pyramid. Also worth mentioning , in the 2 seasons Brechin have been in the Highland League there has never been the slightest hint of a meaningless game from the supporters who , like you go along to watch their team try to win a football match. When there is prize money at stake for finishing higher in the league as it will be in League 2 , surely that is motivation in itself for teams to want to win to secure bonuses etc.
  10. All will be fully explained at the meeting on Tuesday night. Your post mentioned the committee feeling of around a month ago. That was the time when not a lot of solid official information was available for clubs and everyone was working on hearsay. A lot has happened in that time, including concerned supporters contacting the club. I THINK YOU SHOULD QUESTION THE SFA /SPFL FOR THE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY . I don't think the current regime wanted to rush into making rash decisions or statements until more information was available. More and more clubs are now making their intentions known on a daily basis and I wouldn't be surprised if a statement wasn't far away.
  11. I think a lot of supporters have since been in touch and made their feelings known. I believe they are all against the idea and will be voting NO.
  12. Why don't you come along to the supporters meeting on Tuesday to voice your opinions face to face with the manager
  13. Oh please. Is this what these forums have come to ?
  14. Please tell me what money Brechin are spending . Or are you just making shit up again ?
  15. That last sentence sums up Scottish football and why the first sentence will never see the light of day.
  16. I would be happy even with one automatic relegation spot . The HL/LL play off winner going up and 2nd bottom of L2 playing the losers of the play off. But the larger league2 is the logical way to go . That would possibly allow more L2 clubs to field younger players without the cut throat environment of a 10 team league looming over them . Playing clubs only twice a season is also a great thing for avoiding the mundane familiarity that L2 currently offers.
  17. I think I posted something similar to cold feet somewhere too a while back , but on reflection your reply is spot on.
  18. I have always maintained that I would boycott any matches involving the colts . I am sure many others will be the same. The colts parent clubs have , I assume taken this into account and will continue with their compensation match ticket payments . Throwing money at it just highlights the ridiculously flawed concept they are creating. As you say our hospitality could take a big hit too. I hope our club think long and hard at the possible harm this could do to our community after all the hard work of the last 2 years to get them back on side.
