  1. “Labour’s six tests include a comprehensive trade agreement as well as continued co-operation on science, security, research and technology. The party argues that it is reasonable to demand a deal that provides the “exact same benefits” from Europe as EU membership — given that the phrase was first used by David Davis, former Brexit secretary” Quoted from here: https://www.ft.com/content/31653510-b6a6-11e8-b3ef-799c8613f4a1 Obvs these Labour rebels could collectively shit themselves again but it seems a cogent strategy for forcing a collapse of the government. Whether Labour would win that remains to be seen.
  2. Same here. It was far too much stress in the short-medium term for the vague hope it became second nature down the line. I was a husk after a month of teaching.
  3. Isn’t the point of the six tests is that they’re basing them on the Leave campaign’s promise that we can have a Brexit of zero consequence. The point of the six tests appears to be that they’re impossible to achieve.
  4. Weren’t the polls a ploy to get SNP voters to switch back to Labour?
  5. Am looking forward to our own version of being surprised at Tories not having principles when Mundell and Davidson do the square root of f**k all.
  6. Someone I know who teaches reckons he’s done his hours by Wednesday. It’s much more demanding from my own experience than people are willing to acknowledge.
  7. My favourite one was southerners shitting themselves over McDonnell saying that anyone who earns over 70k a year should be considered rich. These are the same folk that claim you can live a life of luxury on like 20 grand a year.
  8. Got a party for you, mate. http://www.scottishconservatives.com/get-involved/join-us/
  9. Idk if it’s a sincere belief among people that the campaign had as big an effect on the Brexit vote as the preceding twenty years of being hammered off the establishment parties. Maybe if people can convince themselves that they can pinpoint to specific factors like Corbyn’s lack of enthusiasm or Cambridge Analytica they can re run the Remain campaign with a couple of minor tweaks and romp home.
  10. Reckon it’s more like they’re stopping those damn illegals from prepping your gourmet burgers for a minimum wage tbh.
  11. Mastermind is posting on another thread this morning, mate.
  12. They should be naming and shaming these dick heads. Then kicking them out the party.
  13. Keeps the base riled up. Is probably the best strategy in terms of getting out any sort of vote.
  14. There’s a good quote in the book I’m reading where someone in Hartlepool says “we’ve got nothing. If you’ve got nothing, you can’t be scared by politicians telling you about what you’ve got to lose. We’ve been in recession for the last thirty years. We know what it’s like if we stayed - it’s terrible.”
  15. I’m not talking about their views on the EU. I’m talking about the governments they served under or led that helped to cause widespread impoverishment and alienation that left people with no belief in the status quo that Remain campaigned on.
  16. Think he’s suggesting she doesn’t do anything to warrant taking time off.
  17. John Major, and Michael Heseltine (was on Scotland Tonight yesterday), have some cheek to lecture people on voting for Brexit when they’re two of the most responsible for causing the Leave vote in the first place.
  18. Good to see you representing my man Antonio with these thoughts.
  19. I don’t think you were the only one tbf he reads as incomprehensibly as banana does.
  20. Tbf “Kafkaesque” is a fairly routine description of the benefits system in Britain. I think Stephen Armstrong uses it in his book on poverty in modern Britain. Not sure what the SS is about unless he’s suggesting the benefit officers are goosestepping in for their shift.
  21. Hard to see how Corbyn will recover from this.
  22. The framing of McCain’s funeral as “a meeting of the #resistance” the conscious exclusion of Trump outside of the establishment doesn’t help either. He could campaign on that again pointing out that the establishment Dems and Republicans don’t want him, and by extension ordinary Americans, to succeed.
