  1. I see Dunfermline have us as playing them behind closed doors on 8th July.

    At the moment we've got

Saturday 4th July - East Stirling (probably the u20s)

Wednesday 8th July - Dunfermline (behind closed doors)

Saturday 11th July - Dumbarton (behind closed doors)

    Tuesday 21st July - Wigan (H)

    Saturday 25th July - Rotherham (H)

Saturday 1st August - 1st game of the Premier League season

So unless they've got a decent friendly pencilled in for Saturday 18th looks like there won't be an English trip this pre-season.

  2. I was talking to my WAT account at an orgy on Thursday lunchtime and she told me that we will play some clubs away from home prior to the competitive season kicking off that are not in our league.

It's a shame she wasn't more specific as it would seem we're about the only club not to announce if we're going away anywhere yet and pre-season is about 4 or 5 weeks away.

  3. I've no idea if it was reported in the media or not but it was said that we offered Fox a deal but on the same terms as he was previously on. It probably wouldn't even take Ross County offering much more, if anything, if they were offering a 2 year deal. With Scully coming through it probably gives the management the push needed to chuck him in with Gallacher as cover if needed.

He's better than Brown from what I've seen but has his weaknesses. As has been shown in the last couple of months if you have a defence which can limit opportunities for him to display his weaknesses (I could probably count the number of one on ones he's had to face in recent times on one hand) then he'll be a good enough signing. His distribution and ability with the ball at his feet was crucial at times to the way we played passing football building from the back in our 1st division winning season.

  4. Apart from his wee clap to the Northy at the start of the second half I won't really miss Foxy. I can appreciate him going to another Premiership club if they were offering more money, a longer contract and as the number one for the position but the Scotland cap stuff was a bit cringey. IF and its a BIG IF he manages to forge an International career via his move to Dingwall well fair play to him.

At least it'll add a bit of spice to games with the Staggies next season 8)

Who was the last former keeper we played against? I imagine he'll get a warm reception from The Northy and from the travelling Jags in Dingwall?

Played against Langfield a few times over the past couple of seasons and Kenny Arthur was in goals for Airdrie the season we went up and Annan pre-season just after that where Gary Fraser scored his first thunderbolt as a trialist.

Can't think of any other recent ones tbh.

  5. We'd be as well playing Scully for pre-season and see how we go. If he looks like he's not ready then no harm done as we can see about getting someone else in plus Gallacher and see about loaning Scully out. You'd think after 2 years apparently playing well at League 1 level we might be able to get him a Championship club if he's not good enough to be our number 1 yet.

  6. I don't think Letheren is any better or worse than Fox. They are both average at best at this level.

It's not as if we're losing a great keeper to replace with an absolute diddy so I can't say I particularly care if we sign Letheren. If he's as bad as is being made out then Gallacher can step in like he had to do on numerous occasions when Fox lost the plot.

  7. Thom Watt from STV has some weird system for deciding what's an assist and what's not. Lawless has more assists than Higgy according to SLJ unless you go by his. He counts shots saved and then someone knocks in the rebound as an assist but passing to someone who scores from 30 yards isn't an assist.

  8. I loved Forbes, it's pretty much his lack of pace that meant he even ended up at us in the first place. It just simply wasn't going to work for him with a manager like Archie who expects players to run their arse off as he simply didn't have the pace to keep up with any Premier League midfield.

That's him won all 3 lower league divisions now he's won league 1 with Morton, it looks like he's going to end up one of these players who turns up at lower league clubs all his career and does well but can't make the step up. A more likeable John Baird type.

He's also still on the front of our season tickets so I get to see the back of his head every 2nd week.

It mirrors Tuffey needing to leave for the sake of his international career and making a c**t of it. With Fox being average at best I wish him all the luck if he really thinks he's capable of playing at a higher level but I don't really see how him moving to another Premier League team to do the exact same as he's doing for us will somehow force his way into Strachan's plans.

He's 3 years younger than Marshall and 5 years younger than Gordon and McGregor, by the time they are all looking to retire from international football as he's never going to be better than any of them Strachan will want to be looking at the younger keepers like Bain.
