Firstly, what was the point in putting that link up cos it doesn't contradict anything I said? On the contrary my little friend, it appears to back it up. They stated they would have to renegotiate the contract if there was no OF games. No influence though, right? Secondly, the "we're a media company, we don't get involved line"....do you reckon they just drew up a contract with no t&c's in it? As far as proving the bit about them actually stating the bit about the 4 OF games I have to say I don't actually have the Sky/SPL contract at hand. I think I left it upstairs but I can't be bothered going to get it.

Sky have a massive influence on the game, that's why those muppets in the corridors of power are falling over themselves attempting to ensure Rangers pt 2 are in the SPL within a season. It's already written into the current Sky contract that they are guaranteed 4 OF games a season or the can renegotiate or pull the plug. Sky have already stated that they could survive without 'Rangers' for 1 season but no more.

All the restructuring in the world will not help newco get on their feet. Their players are about to spark a mass exodus especially when they find out their wages haven't been paid next week. There is an endless list of reasons throughout this thread that I can't be bothered writing why newco won't be up and running come the start of next season. So the SFA and SFL can try their best to create a vacant spot in the 1st division all they like but there ain't gony be a team there to fill it so it's a non-starter.

Dear David, There seems to be growing talk from all quarters of the Scottish game about letting a newco phoenix Rangers start life off in the 1st division. If there is any truth in this story then the powers that be need to take a step back and look at the ramifications this will have for the Scottish game rather than the supposed benefit. The opinion of myself and the vast majority of fans I speak to both in person and on numerous football message boards is that a newco must start from the 3rd division at the very maximum. I understand even that would be bending over backwards to help them as I believe any new application must be submitted along with 3 years worth of accounts. Assuming newco were admitted into the 1st division,presumably one of either Dundee or Dunfermline would be put into the vacant spot in the SPL. Both of these teams are assembling squads with a view to playing in the 1st division, not competing in the SPL. If this was the case then they are being unfairly punished as they would almost certainly come straight back down whilst a newco would almost certainly go straight up meaning that we have reverted back to the status quo within the space of a season. We are at a major crossroads in Scottish football and probably have a once in a lifetime opportunity to renew interest in our ailing game. To rush through proposals just to accommodate this newco in an attempt to save the unfairly distributed finances from Sky would be unforgivable. Remember, this was the team along with their bed fellows across the city,who on several occasions had made noises and attempts to move to England with no concern about what the state of the game would be in their absence, so why should we now be attempting to fast track them into the SPL that they have been so vocal and keen about leaving behind? I urge you not to underestimate the strength of feeling of Scottish football fans on this matter as the wrong decision risks disillusioning and alienating fans throughout the game. Yours Sincerely,

There's far too much talk of this 1st division nonsense coming from too many different sources for it to be coincidence I think there's a deal being done on the fly that they think will appease the obviously unhappy fans. They can think again if they think promoting them, not demoting them, into the 1st will bring an end to the fans anger.

'Rangers' cannot go into the 3rd div because they are extinct. In order for any team to be considered for entry into the SFL they have to provide records of 3 years worth of accounts.
