  1. Technology has moved on since those days, so in today's world they probably would if they could. I do recall a streak done by a par on the plastic pitch and still remember the burn marks Both statements probably sit well with 80 odd percent of the ones who witnessed both, I have yet to speak to someone who enjoys the TFS, yes its modern....thats about it. I do like my seat in the main stand I've had since day one but I'd rather be in the terracing at Brockville, likewise with your 2nd point, Id rather be halfway along the pitch in the terracing at Dunf
  2. You will know also with the bastardize of your ground...... An at least we didnt have a plastic pitch......
  3. That was my birthday game...... I stayed to the end and watched Neil Murray's 90 min old white shorts, whereas everyone else on the park had took part in the game.... Perhaps an alarming stat is the above season at the same time now we had 11pts, we now have 7pts......
  4. Joe Cammay....... He was very good when I seen him a good few year ago.....The event is not for me but good luck with it..... Joe Boyle Keith Brown Kevin Christie John Convery Steven Craig Stuart Cringean Greig Denham Kenny Deuchar John Henry Darren Hill Myles Hogarth Mark Kerr Andy Lawrie Lee Mair Kevin McAllister Jamie McQuilken Garry McStay Lee Miller Ian Morris David Moss Neil Murray Camille Oponga Chic Pearson Steven Rennie Andy Rodgers Patrice Tano Mark Thomson Ricky Waddell Steve Watson Lee Wilkie Paul Wright It was hardly suprising we were 2nd bottom with the above to choose from after losing a good 10 or so players from season before, 9 different centre halfs that season, Crunchie injured for half that season, Greg Denholm also (dunno if thats a plus or negative but he was announced as captain at the start of the season) Deuchars injured also (see comments on Denholm) PAul Wright and Steve Watson on short contracts, Paul Wright was done tho, we had Ian Morris, Neil Murray and Lee Mair, John Henry was away in October, Davie Moss and Lee Wilkie short term loan and Mark Kerr and Lee Miller were perhaps forced in and altho they did well, there true potential was shown season after Crunchie and McQuliken would be the only players Id take to for current team
  5. Farid warming up yesterday at Prenton park.....he didnt get on at all and the Bees fans were singing to him as he warmed up after the first 15mins....A strange one as he has scored three goals whereas the starting striker yesterday has scored none....
  6. That was my big thing throughout the whole meeting..... Surely the league cup with near sell out v Rangers, sell out v Celic and decent large crowd in other semi (semi money pooled) and the tv money,Ramsden cup win sales of higgy and Wallace has us at worst 6- 800k better off and only to make a 200k profit just doesnt add up I kept saying to my mate throughout those sums dont add up, I was sure Higgy was quoted at 150k down Huddersfield way and it was kinda confirmed that it was 300k up front for Wallace at meeting, so with a decent cash cow called league cup and ramsden (50k) adds up that if we had no sale of players we wouldve lost 250k........ Surely you didnt expect an answer to that question tonite or ever and that we didnt vote for Sevco...... I did laugh when McIntyre said he didnt know how we voted....... First of all he will be in team for the Saturday....... My quick general feeling - David White seems a decent enough guy working hard but profit figures dont add up for me of 200k Gordon Profit - Decent enough ideas but decline is the feeling within FFC at moment and these ideas wont work when people have no real love with the club with recent decisions board level and most of all level of performances at the moment. If we had an evil chairman it may have been a different story with the performances as they are at the moment as most Falkirk fans unite to fight evil, but I would use pandering for the word to describe for MR. There also is that hmmmm feeling towards the Bairns trust/Falkirk thingy, They announced a Sportsman breakfast at the Park hotel the day we play fifers on Feb 16th.....32.50 a ticket....hmmmmmm, good luck with that one. There also was Sam Mcgivern film shown and It was almost as if Sam had been scripted to say what he said Elvis - as expected came across well, he wont shirk anything but as much as I sympathise with areas of him pointing out that he is working with 70% less budget than when he took over, he is still on par if not greater this season than everyone else, there is no Ross County this season who were easily budgets ahead of the pack. I didnt agree with his comments that he sent out players to attack, pressure game as he called it....ha Bringing in the Craig Levein name drop didnt help matters either when showing how we defend corners, Id said on holiday an have for a while that Elvis is a Levein clone and sets out not to lose first of all. Overall he came across well but still didnt answer the questions that were answered on how they were asked Messrs Crawford and McFarlane pipped in with backing for the manager in heart felt cries, but TBH I fell asleep 1 min in for their 5 ish mins war cry Anyway, meeting wasnt too bad but was all too predictable. I had said to my mate pre that we will all leave feeling like we have no answers and have felt like we have been banging our heads against the wall, which pretty much sums up most of these meetings, unless there is praise to be handed out
  7. I was gonna quote in previous post that I wont be surprised if Martin Richie is not there......an heyho he isnt gonna be there...... I still feel, I will be coming out of the meeting still wanting to bang my head against a brick wall
  8. Add in a five year plan..... I wasnt going to go as these things usually end up nicey nice or are called at a halt when it gets too much, but I am going to go as this one maybe interesting and may get as bitter as it was in those meetings with Fulston many years ago
  9. As much as I can agree with your summarise of the players, Im guessing Flynn, Haworth and Leahy wont be on peanuts. Flynn was offered terms to stay with County and two players coming from England wont be cheap in the relocate scenario in regard to wages Tatics are not helping the matter, for me we have confused the players, failed a dangerous shot on a poor Rangers side at home, tho had Elvis stating we controlled the game. The fact is like yesterday, we have defence and midfield as one unit, huge gap then forwards, which has got better as we now have two. My own opinion is that with all the fangled formations and losses have brought the morale of the players down, we are in a hell of a mess in which only a change at the moment at the top will change that, Elvis for me has turned into a Yogi clone, his way or your out which is required but within limits. We seen last season him encouraging the younger players, now he doesnt, they still need it from the top as well as from us....Im not fully flattered with the coaches either, I must be one of the few who dont mind Smith but Crawford on match days stands still and watches, McFarlane shouts random pish which is bad comedy, its a mess but a more experienced manager would do much better with what we have got Take Jim Jefferies whom I rate as the best manager in the league, he has good contacts and has perhaps bought wisely to his requirements in which Dunfermline will run Partick close if not win it this season I hope not as I have my bets on Partick and Falkirk !!! Jefferies will also play to attack and I guess in most cases 4-4-2. I for one dont think formations will win you the league at this level but formations on a bad level can cost you your job. Im heading to see Tranmere v Brentford next week, Ronnie Moore old school manager has always believed in 4-4-2, simple two wingers and two strikers which was similar to Jefferies when he was with us......joy of joys and Im stealing Farid's coin
  10. Pretty much covers my thots on the interview...... Also Im sure the figures were 500k soft loans paid over 10yr.......last season we had 400k in transfer fees, bonuses with Arfield promotion, dunno if bonus included Higgy and Wallace and add Ramsden cup win, Celtic Semi which would have seen at least 600k coming in last season which shouldnt really be on our budget I wasnt convinced on his four coaches answer, I dont know if anyone can confirm but I am sure we have other coaches who are not in the dug out during games..... Plus side tho, its good to see that they are not happy with the start and not hiding when performances have been poor, still wouldve liked a question regarding Leahy as we cant afford to sign players on 2yr contracts to not be outside the match day squad
  11. I dont think any of us are thinking that scenario......but Sunday was clueless as it has been so far, there seems to be unrest in the squad again, two wonder goals, a lucky goal and a penalty tis not good so far if we are having to rely on wonder goals, flukes and penalties to score Next five games will kinda tell us a hell of a lot more.....good form we would be looking at 12pts, current form 7pts and perhaps being generous of which I fully expect us to lose to one of the Cowden, Airdrie or Dumbarton games at the moment Its all so much like two seasons ago, shite formations, defence looking like no one knows each other and a midfield that is far to defensive.....The Elvis management learning curve has went back to step 1 again.......
  12. Fukn helll.....he played for Scotland.......
  13. Rangers were not up to much last nite, If we had that same team as then last nite, we wouldve won easily last nite in my opinion.... We are sitting in too deep, far to slow and defensive at the moment to cause any teams danger at the opposite end... We are pissing in our own pants at the moment with this formation and tactic set up...... I feel sorry for the players as its making them look a lot worse than they actually are......
  14. We are needing a bastard in midfield who is willing to shout at folk, kick people and we also need to sort out this formation which we started with under Elvis's first season in the 1st div, only for him to change 6 weeks or so in when it failed then...... 2 league games and one testing cup tie we can judge as where we are = 1 goal in which Taylor had no right to score that goal We could still be playing now and wouldnt have scored from last nites game The Elvis post match interview is also a joke.....according to Elvis We Pressurised Rangers, took the game to Rangers For long periods controlled the game We didnt get result our performance merited better performance than last time we played Rangers Agressive football, lots of crosses from fullbacks which we didnt make the most off Patient football we turned into goalscoring opportunities, the type of football I want to see Sorry I mustve been at a different game......Fight was greater but thats about it.......
  15. Our best results so far seem to be playing the ball directly and over the top to infront of Taylor instead of wide and crossed over.... This plays to Taylors strengths and his goal on Saturday showed that, not to knock the wide ball played in... I cant see us changing much from Saturdays formation, perhaps Dale Fulton dropping out I did fancy the 5 in midfield but feel that we cant do the 3 at the back and any formation of 4 1-2-3-2-2--1-1-1 formation is stil 4-5-1 no matter how you look at it unless your pushing two wide players to support the attack like we did under Yogi.... Its all early days, I remember Raith away last season, I thot we would have many games like that, we really didnt look back after that day its all too early to see where we are....... I still feel its a new team in which we still have to mould what the teams best strengths are, that said I think Millar is a bigger miss than Farid so far.......
  16. Why ? edit - just checked and seen The Rangers game at weekend prior is on Sunday....St Mirren are playing the Wednesday, so perhaps thats the reason why......
  17. The same scenario applies to majority of the SPL clubs, perhaps not fully this season but next when Sky wont renew the tv deal..... We now seem to be in a decent cash flow situation helped with the league cup semi and players sales of last season and I reckon we have now got our budgets into place that we dont require to sell a player each year to break even. I am sure lessons have been learnt over the last few years with SPL wages players in div 1, large paypackets within the club too, no employment tribunals costing six figures and no pushin our budget over the limit in January as we probably did every season bar last for the last 5 yr or so The Academy tho is now beginning to reap rewards, something I remember you wanted scrapped when you supported Falkirk. If we have a productive season this year, I feel Duffie maybe the next to move on and on the showings against Bolton with a mere youth team for 30-40 mins, we do have few others that will step in and shine this year and onwards The business model 2011 we have at Falkirk has it flaws but seems to be on the right track......can you say that about the majority of the SPL clubs if there is no Sky deal......??? Coz yes means more pain......
  18. In traditional SPL style the changes to structure and promotional places were somewhat not fully above board but lets be honest that the extra promotion place(s) to the top league wont really effect 20+ off the 30 clubs in Scotland in the SFL Also its interesting that 2 or 3 of the yes votes came from previous SPL members.......
  19. If you read the statement, then it details one....... A need for change......None of us know the ins or outs of the whole scenario regarding the sweetners for votes but play offs and and a bigger SPL were touted. The FFC board statement ploughed through that if in 3 year time we still have one up one down, then perhaps we have missed an opportunity to fast track a change to the structures of the game. I personally dont think play offs in leagues of 10 are right but I cant deny it keeps the two other leagues going till usually the last game of the season.. Ps I hope you got a bridie today.....
  20. I personally think in regards to stories that it was George Craig being careless and yes Martin Ritchie letting him do so were to blame for that episode but slowly that has been corrected The statement release reads maybe.......it stands by neither yes or no and suggests that it is both yes and no..... For what Ive heard, I believe its yes and with today's as expected and predicted no show of vote points towards yes..... Simples really....... Reveal we voted yes = minority fans who are beiling at the moment create more than a hissy fit and perhaps drag more into their camp Reveal we voted no = everyone is happy...... Onwards and upwards for me as Ive stated from the start, roll on the season so we can get on with what matters most.......
  21. To quote the Hives...."Hate to say I told you so"........ We were never ever going to hear a straight yes or no from the board of which it does concern me but not as much where the facts stand that it hasnt changed a jot to our season, players and starting division members If the disclosed decision had made a difference, then I am sure the minority of fans who are up in air wouldve became the majority. You will struggle to find a Falkirk fan who is happy if we voted yes(of which I am sure we did).... but we all have our way with dealing with that of which I respect all. I can see why the club voted yes and the statement kinda shows that with the Rangers promotion in three years and having no changes in our league that we have missed a chance for that change of which wouldve been done hastily SPL style. The bigger picture is Scottish fitba is fecked, things like this dont help but we could find ourselves promoted this season or next season and miss more tv money in the SFL due to the Newco as the SPL SKY deal I am sure runs out this coming season As I say I understand those who are aggrieved, I am too in a lesser fashion but our club has tried to act like the SPL in this vote, only that it hasnt got the same twisted power the SPL clubs have and have fell flat on their faces
  22. He wasnt good enough for us.......He can cross a ball and lives off that one free kick goal v Hamilton which somehow related he takes a good freekicks... One point tho which may ease the diss attitude here is that in my opinion his best game for Falkirk was an away game he started v Stirling Albion. He was easily the best player on the park that day by a mile, so perhaps a step down a league may help him
  23. Flip that around again find me a supporter that is happy if we voted yes....... I think the key area is that whatever the vote maybe, it hasnt changed a jot if it was yes or no..... Yes the majority if not all of fans are unhappy if it is a yes vote, but the fact is it doesnt alter anything football wise. We do have disappointed fans with some more than others who of course may take stronger actions, which obviously effects the club, but overall I dont see it effecting the club much with what I have predicting is that the board will stand behind the secret ballot and not reveal how they voted. If the yes vote had made a difference then we may have seen a different siege mentality with the majority of the fans looking for answers and hundreds wanting serious answers with further actions to follow......at least I like to think that, but the TFS has lost the scary Brockville effect in which we could get managers/boards out and perhaps thats why I have mellowed too...... All in all, I will be glad for the real stuff to start in which the only banging my head off the wall will be because of the team on the park
  24. Buying a Gary Glitter CD doesnt make me a paedophile, to bring the same slant right back..... I can see why the club may have voted yes, I dont agree with it but I can see why albeit we all knew the outcome of the vote ala the SPL one
  25. As I mentioned earlier and fully expect that to continue.... If those that are in disgust with the decision of the either the no show of how they voted or the fact they just expect they voted yes, then take it up with the club, I do sympathise with you in that manner that you feel strongly enough albeit over a vote either way has made no difference. I am sure you wont get the answer you want from the club but it beats going on about it here as like the decision/vote it wont make any difference The whole Rangers/newco episode which is still ongoing is tiresome, why we have become attached to it when we know who we are playing this Saturday, which league we are in and who against till May. The real business starts this Saturday, support the team or dont or even go down the other route of supporting Raith, Clyde or Glasgow University if you wanna be the phantom farter.......
