Never been a fan of all weather racing especially wi Newcastle ripping up the grass but popped doon to the 1st ever floodlit meeting last night and was highly impressed with what I saw. Strange one though all the floodlit races are on the straight. Im sure at one point they will have it floodlit all the way round but highly recommend a visit. There is definitely something special wi the lights.
Edit: for those not familiar wi the track I'd recommend arranging transport after the last race (there were plenty taxis outside not sure if pre booked) as it's a fair walk in the dark through the trees to get to the main road. Maybes something the management will look in to.
Have you seen either team play??
Naw didn't think so.....
Shire have been leaking goals aw season and Selkirk scored the same amount of goals against Gala just the other week. All the fun of the LL so certainly no bet scams.
Yeah I had a whinge on another thread about us playing Gala away midweek when it was still light enough to get games at Rosewell.
Folk will moan when the weather kicks in and it's difficult to get grass pitches on.
Great news about your floodlights though.
Hardly creaming was actually comparing yous to other Junior teams in the area.
If ye want me to be petty a dozen adults singing songs in front of aboot 100 folk does seem a wee bit odd
Thought for the day....
The fixtures secretary does a fine job in what is a thankless task but....
My team have played 2 midweek fixtures, one a home match against another team who play on grass and have no floodlights (both teams could've been at home that night against artificial pitch teams) and the other an away match against a team who have lights and an artificial surface.Maybes could've had a reverse of this game as it could be played any midweek through the season.
Could maybes ease congestion a wee bit ?
I guess we'll just have to wave a magic wand and get floodlights and an all weather surface
There's a few missing on Saturday paleface,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
3 points tonight is all you could really ask for.
The squad is on the bones of its arse
Hearts at Motherwell Fri 30th September and Hibs v Dundee United just moved to Sunday October 2nd leaving City v Arbroath the Saturday game in the capital.
I would imagine one or two season tickets from Hibs and Hearts at that game.
Could be a decent crowd.
I'm nae expert bud but we played wi 3 at the back yesterday which was alarming. We try to play football from the back but we gave ye a goal from doing just that yesterday. We've lost goals like that for weeks now.Sometimes it's better booting it especially when winning.
Yer 1st goal was excellent but oor keeper might have been caught oot of his line,to which many keepers seem to do nowadays, wander when ball not near them.
We played 2 up front one defo a great signing, 2 goals in 2 games but if the other is a striker I'm getting my boots back oot the cupboard especially when we had pacey players on the bench.
Haven't seen spartans yet this season but personally think EK and Shire will be too strong for ye to win the league but ye never know.
As for us there's certainly a big gap between us and a top 4 or 5 finish, that's for sure based on what I've seen so far, though I was well impressed wi the young lad from cowdenbeath yesterday.
We desperately need a few easy Scottish draws to get some much needed funding in to even compete at this level.
All the best for the rest of the season.
Maybes no the humping But you do tend get the same clubs up for promotion and relegation year in year out though. LL looks like being no different, there's a pattern developing, top middle bottom clubs ??
