Hi Olly presume you were not at the game. Apart from how well Tranent played their direct style, major problem for us was we didn't play our possession game. The match stats show Tranent had 52% possession against our 48%. So much for overplaying when the stats confirmed what was obvious,  we didn't play enough passes. We got sucked in to a game we were never  going to win. Having less possession than a team playing long ball tells the tale. Not a dig at Tranent ,they played to their strength,  we absolutely didn't.

Agree at times we do overplay, but normally we get out 9 times out of ten and have wingers in space to attack final third.  The pitch was so tight that became very difficult and we then resorted to something we are not even passable at. The fact both wingers were subbed at HT is also very telling.

Back on bike next week v Braves, hopefully making passes, keeping possession and creating space to attack.  Has served us very well so far and need to use today as motivation

Direct styles close percentages tight park you really are taking it bad

Yes every time Tranent had a shot it seemed to end up a goal. Fair play they obviously thoroughly deserved the win.  Most times games like this can be described 7-0 going on anything.  This was 7-0 going on 7-0.

We never got going, the slow narrow pitch and Tranent intensity blew us out of game , down 3 nil by 15 minute mark.

As poorly as we played,  Tranent played to their strengths and we couldn't cope. We then got sucked into a long ball contest we were never going to win. That was disappointing,  despite circumstances would have preferred a doing trying to keep the ball. Did that against Accies , so at least took that from that game.

Major test of character and personal pride now right in front of players, coaches, everyone.

100% certain the response will define our season in absolutely the right way.

Narrow pitch, long balls any more excuses?

Pumped bud. Reality check for the money men. 💰

Outstanding Jeanfield (LL might no be too happy if Elgin finish bottom) fantastic for the EOSFL that Broxburn and Dunbar in there too.

Must be the best EoSFL results for manys a  year. 👏

I'm not sure why that contradicts me also wanting the Lowland League to open up more relegation spots. I'm not sure who benefits from Edinburgh Uni and Gretna languishing at the bottom of the table for another year or two (certainly don't think it does either club much good).

There's really no merit in the argument that the LL should stay at potentially 0 relegation spots just because the SPFL does the same.

It doesn't do either club much good but the higher you are the higher profile you get with the media etc. so I think both clubs be happy to hang in there as long as they can.

No there isn't any merit but try telling the LL that. As I've pointed out I don't think it's going to change anytime soon and for the record it's ridiculous that there might not be any relegation whatsoever.

No disrespect to the supporters of Edinburgh Uni and Gretna 2008 but once they both go down the Lowland League really will be very tight at both ends of the table and far better league for it.

You could have an ex SPFL club in Albion Rovers, East Stirling or Berwick Rangers in particular going down to West / East of Scotland leagues. I know Cowdenbeath also another but I think when EK go up they may then go for a promotion push & seem okay... as literally no point for them spending big cash at moment although Cumbernauld Colts are doing amazing to challenge EK / Tranent / Bo'ness.

I know at the moment it is tight between Edinburgh Uni & Gretna but a big game to 16th spot and I don't expect either team to even get to 13 points or get close to challenge 16th.

Certainly wouldn't surprise me to see an ex-SPFL club go down in the next few years. I think it would definitely happen if relegation opened up more/if there was at least one guaranteed relegation spot each season. East Stirling are probably one of the favourites to go down when Gretna and Edinburgh Uni are finally out of the league (we might not even see one of them go down this year the way Elgin/Forfar are doing so far).

Instead of nitpicking on the LL particularly Gretna and Edinburgh Uni could yous not post this on the league 2 forum and point out how well Cove Kelty Bonnyrigg and now Spartans are doing coming from non league football?

End of the day it's the same old shouts that the LL should open up but until the SPFL do then the LL won't be in any hurry to change their relegation format.

All I'll say is the media, are very keen to mention pay every time, yet most passenger companies and indeed the freight side its about conditions that have been eroded over a number of years,  which don't get be wrong Drivers are not adept to change, but all the conditions that were hard fought for won't be given away.

Newky I haven't had enough of my team, Ive had enough of how the club has been administered, without accountability.

Yip and they want to close ticket offices ,have no passenger assistance at stations as well as having driver only trains with no catering or guards on them. Yet folk think it's all about the £.

Again back on topic its yer managers 100th game in charge today with 45 wins just ahead of 40 defeats I hope you can put in a performance today.

That's been the working conditions of a train driver for a very very long time indeed.

My faither was a train driver and it like that for him - and he retired 28years ago !!

Yes and the companies would rather fill the shareholders pockets with thousands of profits than train up new drivers as its easier and cheaper to get drivers to work their days off. Drivers have had enough.

Anyway enough of the politics it's sad to read the likes of Redcar and Berwicks finest have had enough of their team. Times must be really thin down Shielfield way.

It’s not the SFA’s fault, although there’s a glass ceiling developing for those trying to get on the ladder.

Those who go every time have earned their place but some form of recognition for those who miss out would be welcome, say a member travels and didn’t have enough points, they go to the ticket pickup point and give them their SSC number and in return they get a single point. Some club sides give out a point or whatever for applying (different system I know). Could maybe have a ballot of ~10% of the tickets going to the wider membership.

I’m on 11 points, having been to all of the last 20 odd homes games and missing out on tickets for two aways out of the last ten, with another away game I got points for just dropping off. I thought a friendly would be a good chance to get in the Scotland end for an away game but it’s looking unlikely now.

I did suggest some sort of point just for travelling but folk said it was too easy to copy flight tickets/hotel rooms etc.

That's a good idea ticket pick up point gets a point as I've lost out loads in past too. It's so frustrating.

I've even suggested the further you travel the more points you should get.

It's easy getting to France,Germany Belgium etc but not so much Eastern European countries.

It’s an absolute sickener spending hundreds of pounds on getting to these games and not being able to climb the ladder or potentially even getting in the ground in this case.

They need a rethink of the points system as it’s become a closed shop. Should at least be some recognition for ‘applying for a ticket’. To get this news three weeks before the game is a disgrace.

It's hardly the SFA s fault that we got such a shite allocation.

Why is it a closed shop?

There are loads fans don't miss any games.  They've every right to a ticket.

What do you suggest to be fairer?

There's thousands going to Spain and most will probs be nowhere near Lille.

Picking up tickets is the only way here.

The SFA in the past have got increased allocations, maybes might negotiate here.

You might still have a chance. 🤞

Great draw for you. That’s a good day out! Very nice ground. Quite compact so will be buzzing with a bigger than normal crowd in.

Ground is only really occupied 1.5-2 sides around (two-thirds down either length, and can only use behind one goal). Not massively different to Clydebank in terms of areas used.

Pubs - Staggs is a brilliant pub, that’s where I’d go. Ship Inn is a smidge closer to the ground. Auld Brig a bit closer again. Also a Wetherspoons not very far from the ground.

Food - loads of choices. Lanna Thai is the first one I thought of.

Nice beach and harbour to walk around if you’re wanting to make a day of it.

If this one is picked for telly I’ll be there also, but I’ll be picking Cumnock v Turriff for my Saturday game.

I would annoy my mate and fill Staggs full of Clyde fans - they do a nice pint.

If you like ice cream then S Luca is the East Coast Nardinis although it's not particularly near Olive Bank. They also do food.

Store club next to the ground still open?

Be ideal for away fans to book in there?

    Hope you’re keeping well newky.

Been along time since your team first visited kpark in what was our very first home game at this level.
No sour grapes at all pal. The ground hasn’t changed much since your first visit with the exception of the added stand behind the goal. Matchday experince could be a hell of a lot better. Problem is its deemed good enough for this level and wont change untill we move up the leagues. (If we ever manage that)

I wasnt there today so never got the chance to see how yous are looking.  But for old times sake, get it up yeh!!😁

Best of luck for the rest of the season mate.

 Couldn't get behind goals today there was a minor few there right enough but the rest of your stand,as i stated  views similar to Heriot Watt, Meadowbank and now i mention it Dunbar have a fine new set up. I was left by the hot dog stall wi a few others.

I'm sure you'll manage it this year yer team looked good without getting out 1st gear.

On another note we maybes were small in numbers but had a decent day at the sports hub boosting their coffers. :guinness

    Hello John Auld pal .

Thank you for todays pumping (expected).

From a sour grapes of point of view I think yer ground is a mix of Heriot Watt and Meadowbank and that's been a few years for yourselves to improve.

One sides grounds won't work for your ambitions.

    Best wishes by the way.

No idea why you think this adds anything to a Bo'ness United thread.  Another 3-0 victory over Darvel would do nicely like in the game I remember watching what is scarily close to 50 years ago now. Maybe part of the problem with dwindling interest in the club is that you almost have to be the wrong side of 50 to properly remember even the Ballieston final. A cup run and ideally doing something like what Darvel did to Aberdeen would be just what the doctor ordered to provide some new memories up there with those games.

    You've derailed loads threads

Aye can mind that Baillieston final Ibrox wi all the different coloured seats if I mind right.

Can almost predict who is going to get worked up by something like that. Perhaps worth bearing in mind that in Bo'ness United's case the past in terms of the other Scottish Cup still provides memories that are well worth savouring including a victorious final at Hampden against Darvel.

Worked up obviously got to you enough to reply though.

You are stuck in the past you've been told that by numerous posters on here but lets not get in the way of any facts. 👍

A good run in the Big Scottish brings in some much needed cash.  A home tie is good but I would have preferred avoiding Darvel.

I thought ye were past all that why do folk persist on calling it the big Scottish it is simply THE Scottish Cup.
