The last paragraph of this post is not aimed at you #DUFC, but rather to the person you responded to in the above post.

Although the quote mentions players and managers, it could easily refer to fans as well. For most of the season, Dunbar Utd were top of the 1st division and in my opinion, we’re always going to get promoted at first attempt, which would have been their objective at start of season. Today, Dunbar won their last match and ultimately the league (which is a bonus).

I know fans can complain/moan about their team whenever they choose. I’ve done it myself. However, when your own team are top of the league, for so long, some of the negativity towards Dunbar this season has been laughable!

THE MESSAGE BELOW, belongs to someone directly involved with Dunbar. Same message, (celebrate’) , could equally apply to ‘negativity.

    .

    .

“Never understand why players and managers post on SM after a win to almost get it up people after 1 win, then go out and get beat your just setting yourself up for a fall. Keep your powder dry and if you achieve something celebrate it end of season not game to game”

Congratulations Dunbar most probably worthy league champions but you are correct were always in a position to get promoted with the budget they had.

Can only build on this and with crowds very much on the up can be a force back in the Premier next season.

    All the best. 👏

Naismith has shown he's a competent coach, and if we are in Europe next season, it will be a relatively quick process in terms of the qualifiers coming round. So, I can see a rationale for keeping him in post.

He's that competent that he guided the B team to 13th place in a 19 team Lowland League.

    Do these stats not count?

Wonder if it’ll be as strong and competitive in 23/24  as it has been for the current campaign?

It'll probs be even more competitive.

Blackburn will fancy their chances of going straight back up.

Oakley and Vale will be on a more level playing field.

Nitten will look to get over their disappointment of not getting up.

Dunipace will look to take their cup form into the league.

Both WW,despite a few Midlothian derbies and Camelon will both expect to have better seasons than this one and then theres the late arrivals to the pyramid in Whitburn and St.Andrews who could just as easy follow up promotions.

The rest won't be there to make the numbers up either.

So yes most definately stronger and competitive!

What are the chances of changing the name back?

    The million dollar question!

Would you need to fight Craigroyston for that ?

Did they not take over the name ?

Kinda schoolboy error from your board changing the name in the 1st place.

Berwick wow... I assume they wanted to use a LL ground for the final.

    Spartans? Tranent? CSS?

Nah lets send both clubs on 160 mile round trip

Apparently was picked at the start (Could've announced it then) which makes it even more bizarre.Obviously never thought Berwick would get to the final then.

Berwick will be a fine host, just bonkers having finalists from where they are travelling down there.

Even toss a coin for home advantage would probably get a bigger crowd.

    Too many historical cups?

League should always have priority. Playing cup games on Saturday's when league games are outstanding is poor. Why is a 22 game season finishing so late. Some teams had played 11 or so games in March, and then having to play 3 games a week. That's poor management.

Management committee need to show a bit more professionalism and organisation for 2023-24.

As I've said Possil likes to stir up a bit of debate, but his comment does raise a good point as most clubs were playing unnecessary midweek league games.

Is there a full league schedule produced at commencement of the season?

Clubs should be questioning fixtures guy.

If it was the West there would be a 200 page thread on it.

If you know anyone or are on the SOS committee raise this please.

It's a thankless task maybes get in touch wi the league and see if you can arrange the fixtures in the way you see fit.

I'm not sure what else you'd call it when you're still scuttling about the forum referring back to an off-hand comment from a year ago (that turned out to be entirely correct).

pulling in 4-figure crowds regularly. And then being proved entirely correct on both counts.

I'm sure the league cup crowds enhanced this but looks like you weren't "entirely correct" .

Only 3 in it as well

It's a very impressive attendence for this level, as I've already said on this thread. People poke fun at the slope because it is fairly ridiculous. I'm not sure you're particularly good at recognising when folk are wound up and when they aren't.

Oh I think the park has certainly wound up a lot of folk this season bud. Chill oot and have a nice evening ;)

It's a complete fantasy that folk are raging about Bonnyrigg. You're obviously one of the oddball ex-non league fans that gets off imagining that SPFL fans are outraged that there's ex-junior upstarts in our midst. The vast majority simply aren't. Rage isn't really folk pointing out that they didn't think Bonnyrigg would be challenging for promotion or pulling in 4-figure crowds regularly. And then being proved entirely correct on both counts.

As good as their home crowds were, I don't think Bonnyrigg travelled in especially big numbers so I doubt there was much "Bonnyrigg pound" to enjoy.

More abuse tut tut, im not scuttling round any forum, all I asked was their average crowd and you jumped right in.

I think a baw hair off 1000 fans on average is decent for that level, most teams in the league can only dream of being close to that figure.

They do seem to have a slope, tell me that's not wound folk up on here though :thumsup2

Take it easy bud it's only a football forum 👍

Couldn't really give a shit. The weirdo above got a bee in his bonnet for some reason because I said Bonnyrigg wouldn't average 1,000+ over the season. And now he's bragging about being wrong.

Bonnyrigg's crowds were impressive this season.

Take it yer referring me to as the  "weirdo". Restricting to abuse is a sign of losing a debate by the way.

All i asked was average crowd figures for the season, mustve hit a raw nerve as it was enough for you to give a shit and merit a reply though.

Never really been a fan of Bonnyrigg but to see the rage in some of the posts this season has been entertaining to say the least.

All the best for next season I'm sure the Bonnyrigg pound has been welcomed in most towns up and doon the country. ;)

So do we want Spartans to FO, consistently vote badly if I recall correctly.

Will Albion be any better than Berwick and Cowdenbeath at voting correctly.

    Let the conspiracy commence.

Sharing their astro wi Hearts B throws their cards on the table straight away.

Your awfully sure West Calder going to finish third and get promoted  to second division. Edinburgh  College are still 3rd on goal difference. Just saying lol 😆

Well said Pumphyman, you beat me too it. Good old HibeeJibee must have something against the STUDENTS. By all accounts it looks like West Calder are self destructing. Come on all CLASSMATES sharpen those pencils and get promotion to Division 2.

To be fair he did state "as it stands" and "could well be"

Indeed... partly as their access to Grangemouth was too limited. Then joined East Juniors, and became tenants at Dunipace.

Incidentally as it stands next season's Third Division could well be:

Bathgate Thistle, Craigroyston, Edinburgh College, Fauldhouse United, Harthill Royal, Hawick Royal Albert, Linton Hotspur, Livingston Utd, Lochgelly Albert, Pumpherston, Stoneyburn

so decent but not outlandishly formidable.

Over last 15yrs most amateur + youth entrants or takeovers have more than held their own anyway... Tynecastle, LTHV and Inverkeithing... Leith and Burntisland... Tweedmouth and Edinburgh South... they're spread right across the divisions.

By way of explanation....when I played amateur football I always looked up at the Junior and East of Scotland teams.  They were, in my opinion - and many others; a step up in quality.

Whenever we played against teams at this level, we tried all the harder to get 'one-over' them.  We rarely succeeded.

Later I made the step up and played both Junior and East of Scotland.  We played friendlies against amateur teams and they always hard fought - to the point it was almost dangerous playing against them.  If you weren't sharp you could end up injured.  That told me the desire to get one over the 'big boys' was still there.

By letting in a team who finished fourth bottom, of the bottom league in season 2021/22.....a team who are currently sitting third bottom in the third division of the amateur league will, IN MY OPIONION, drop the standard of the league.

Linton Hotspur may have a nice ground, but will they be competitive?  They might have reached the final of the South Cup last season - but they have shown nothing that would convince me that they'll enhance the standard of football in the East of Scotland league.

The step up is there.  Try telling Harthill Royal or Fauldhouse that they are an amateur side - I'm sure they'd be furious.  Both teams take pride in playing in the EoS league, and at the higher than amateur level.

It seems there's an air of 'If you build it, they will come' in all of this.

The EoS league should be looking to keep the standard high.  The league should always be a step up for an amateur player.  Allowing teams in on the basis they have a nice pitch and facilities is stupid.  If, and when Linton Hotspurs join the league and lose heavily week in, week out - they'll fold or head back to the amateurs.  And the league will be left looking stupid.

As I say, MY OPINION - so don't bother coming back with the character assassination comments if it differs from yours.

Yet you're judging them on a team from this season. What's to stop them adding to the squad next season?

The fact they will be an EoSFL club will surely be an attraction itself for players.

They are starting at the bottom of the pyramid which is the way it should be.

You do seem a tad upset by their application. They have done everything asked of them by the EoSFA.

Good luck to them I say.

  15. To finish with a century break too. Best man won. Did anybody notice who the miserable guy was when everyone was cheering. He was front row in background no even clapping
