  1. As if Batman v Superman wasn't getting enough heat, David S. Goyer (writer of that, along with the Nolan films and the Blade series) has taken more shots at comic book fans. Taking the piss out of She-Hulk and Martian Manhunter as well. That's certainly one way to tr and get the fans back on your side for this film...

Saw X-Men, thought it was alright. Apparently there's an after-credits scene though, which I didn't realise till I got back, but the person I read said it was absolute trash.

  2. I didn't clock Electro playing that either, I was entirely confused by that scene since I thought it was supposed to be soundtrack and then Spider-man makes reference to the noise.

As for Arrow, I might give it a bash but the first three/four episodes were pretty pish. The actor playing Oliver Queen doesn't exactly portray a playboy very well (or didn't in the episodes I saw before I gave up). I was kinda intrigued by the Island story though, but not enough to continue watching.

  3. Bad Neighbours was always going to be shite and uninspiring. It's a standard Seth Rogen film with a tired premise. There was also absolutely no reason why the wife was Australian. No reason.

I enjoyed it. Is that a tired premise? Can't say I've seen too many films like that.

Her being Australian didn't bother me, she was a college exchange student who fell in love with Rogen. Nothing ridiculous about that.

And the impressions scene was absolutely hilarious.

  4. Godzilla (2014)

Before I start I'm going to give a pretty major spoiler away that definitely had a negative impact on my viewing of the film:

Bryan Cranston, the best actor and indeed most interesting character in the film is killed off after about 30 minutes! FFS. Thought it'd be a great film up until that point.

So that was pretty poor tbh. After that it was still better than your average monster spectacle and a lot better than the 1998 adaptation from what I can remember. The film started off with a very good plot but quickly faded into a cliché ridden action film, complete with a Hollywood kiss and dramatic music at the end which was disappointing and unoriginal.

Still, very decent though and Bryan Cranston was by far the bright spot in the film.

    6/10.

    I agree about your spoiler.

I was utterly shocked when he died, perhaps that's what they were going for. I did think it was weird that in the opening credits (which were cool as f**k, btw), it had him listed at the end with "and Bryan Cranston".

Pretty much agree with yours, I'd probably rate it a 7 personally.

Cranston's scene where he's in what looks like a supply closet with a one way mirror was fantastic.

  5. Reigns isn't great on the mic, but he's improved massively in the past six months or so. Considering it was all Ambrose and Rollins with Reigns just saying "believe that/in the Shield" before but now he does that but has actual lines now. He delivers them well enough.

He's good in the ring though, I probably prefer him least out of the Shield but that's not exactly a criticism since Rollins is fantastic and I love Ambrose. He's got his big impact moves and he hits them well enough every time (I don't really like the spear though, just as a move). He's adding more though, that jumping boot he does on the apron is fantastic!

  6. I cant really stand Tatum as an actor. He was decent in 21 Jump Street but nowt else. He's just not lithe enough for me for Gambit.

The latter is my problem, he's too muscly for Gambit. He's charismatic enough but too well-built and not really "rugged" enough like a Gambit needs to be.

I'm not really sure who I'd have though, Josh Holloway is about the only name that springs to mind but even he's a bit too big for the role.

  7. They referred to rusev as bulgarian on raw im sure? Its looking like a terrible gimmick so far but ill give it time for them to develop it.

    Yeah, he's the Bulgarian Brute.

I love how Lana keeps dedicating Rusev's wins to Putin. Those daft yanks

It's fantastic, such easy heat and the Americans are eating it up.

  8. Exam on Monday was a bit of a disaster, think I did two methods the wrong way around.

The one I just sat should've went a lot better, but the two topics that I knew very well didn't come up and I was kinda banking on at least one of them coming up. Hopefully should get a pass in that, even more so that my coursework mark was good so I was already sitting on like 15% for the class.

  9. Really excited to play these remakes, Hoenn is my favourite region by far.

I'm kinda excited, I wasn't too big a fan of Hoenn but I didn't play it at the time and Gen 3 and 4 are painfully slow to replay so hopefully this game will make me think better of that Gen.

I want that glorious graphics Groudon though!

I don't have a source but that's apparently the first shot of Affleck as Batman. Looks like The Dark Knight Returns and I think that looks very good, so they've at least done one thing right.

edit: it's from Snyder's Twitter so straightup legit.

  11. The trial by combat thing....does Tyrion do the fighting or can he nominate someone to fight for him?

I think he can nominate because they count being a dwarf in the same category as being injured, a child or female which would give an unfair advantage.

I can see Jaime being on one side of the trial, he'll either beat Tywin's choice or he'll sacrifice himself to let Tyrion live (I hope it's the former, Tywin should be smart enough not to want Jaime in case he sacrifices himself).

Good episode all round. The court stuff was obviously great. Ser Davos and Stanis' section was a good little scene too.

I'll agree on the thoughts that Emilia Clarke isn't great as an actress, it doesn't help that I couldn't give a f**k what's going on with Daenerys either. Don't give a f**k about the Iron Islanders either.

  12. I agree about Bad Influence, they were tremendous. I'd lose my shit if they turned up in WWE.

Sabin was alright but he hasn't looked the same since his injuries, not that being in TNA and being fucked over would help.

  13. He would be in nXt for eternity no doubt.

He'd also never get away with his face paint....PISH!?!?!

I'd be alright with that, wrestling guys like Sami Zayn, Samurai Del Sol or Sami Callahan? I can only imagine those matches would be off the charts.

  14. Just finished this as well, top quality as had already been said.

I thought I'd been spoiled about someone dying so I was expecting that throughout the whole finale but it never came! I must've misheard the spoiler, I guess.

I'll end up re-watching the whole season in a couple of days during the summer since I've only been watching an episode here or there due to time constraints.

When they got off the boat after holding the Steve guy prisoner and Rust tells him they've hired a sniper as insurance.

    *shoots car*
"Do I strike you as more of a talker or a doer, Steve?"

    So fucking cool.

  15. Prince Devitt looks like he'll be signing for WWE or even TNA soon, he's been losing his titles in the UK recently and has officially left NJPW.

God I hope it's WWE, he's far, far too good for TNA and would be a waste there. (though him against someone like Aries would be cool) Some of the potential matches he could have in WWE would be phenomenal.

  16. Anyone seen the wee short films Marvel are including in some of their DVDs? The one on Thor: TDW is about Trevor Slattery being interviewed by Jackson Norriss, a member of the Ten Rings posing as a TV presenter. He tells Trev that the Ten Rings are back in business and the real Mandarin is pissed about Trev ruining his reputation.

Yeah, that was probably my favourite of the one-shots they've done.

A friend of mine suggested that perhaps Trevor Slattery is actually the real Mandarin and it was all a big ruse, which would probably be the best scenario as Kingsley was spot on for the cast of Mandarin.

  17. I just heard. Whilst it's a bit of a shame, this season wasn't a patch on the early stuff. There were some good moments but it was mostly pretty poor, especially the last 3/4 episodes.

  18. Where are you getting those figures from? IMDb shows a loss at the US box office for almost everything he's made in recent years, which is generally considered to be the benchmark for success from US funders, as I understand it.

Fair play to him if those are worldwide grosses; he's obviously doing very well for himself. But he's quite fortunate to have found some sensible backers. And his wife too, the b*****d :P

Edit: just looked up the worldwide grosses; that's an incredible swing between US and RoW takings. $20m box office for Three Musketeers vs $112m elsewhere  Maybe one of the few occasions that the US can claim to have better taste than Europe :P

I took them from Wikipedia, which cites Box Office Mojo (which I just checked to confirm).

  19. Edit: Who keeps giving Paul W.S. Anderson so much money for these films? He's made some moderately entertaining but pretty average films in the past, but they're never going to turn a profit on these budgets

He does though. Resident Evil: Retribution and Afterlife made $240 and $296 million respectively off of $60 million budgets. Three Musketeers made $130 million off of $75 million. Even if that's not the total cost of the films, they're still clearing huge profits. Pompeii has a budget of $100 million and it's at $96 million taken so far so it'll probably at least break even.

Say what you will about him (and I could have some choice words about the Resi films), his movies make money so it's no wonder he keeps getting the funding to make whatever the f**k he wants.
