  1. A visit to specsavers is in order if you think Flynn didn't make contact with the ball. He quite clearly gets his toe to it before contact is made by Phillip's boot.
  2. To be fair, if the project had been managed properly, then we wouldn't really be mentioning it. The club is much better of with Ralston than without it IMO.
  3. Depends how Watt performs between now and the end of the season and how much United would want for him, if he doesn't have some sort of relegation clause in his contract. I'd be equally happy with an injury free, fired up Brophy. Just watched the Ross County game. Brophy looked good, but Dundee United's defence was absolutely dreadful. They were that bad, I'd have fancied my chances of scoring. I nearly fell of my seat when he passed to Dhanda rather than shooting.
  4. Sadly for you, your opinion,or others on here, mean the square root of fuck all. However, if it makes you feel better, then fill your boots. The current rules, as evidenced by many red cards both pre and post Var, indicate that raised studs coming into contact with a players ankle/knee/head, whether it's intentional or not, results in a red card. We benefitted from it yesterday and against Livingston. However, we've been on the receiving end too with incidents involving Captain Joe and Marcus Fraser.
  5. I think the facts that the studs were raised and caught Flynn square on the ankle were the main reasons it was deemed a red. Rightly or wrongly it becomes a dangerous/reckless challenge, even if it appears unintentional. If Philips makes contact with the side of his boot or toe, then I doubt that red card would have been shown. Possibly not even a yellow.
  6. It's a sustainable model, if we sell the players for profit. What has fucked us up, is the clusterfuck of an overspend at Ralston. It's not without risk, but I'd much rather we took a punt on players, rather than being involved a relegation fight every year. The last couple of years have been quite enjoyable.
  7. Hopefully Baccus will be back next week. It was always going to be the case with Flynn and Kiltie not being regulars. Unfortunately finance dictated both Reid and Erhahon leaving. If either of them were still with us we'd be in a much stronger position.
  8. You're going to be sorely disappointed. As clear a red card as you're going see. Not a chance in hell that it's going to be overturned. It doesn't matter regarding intent. Rightly or wrongly it's the end result that matters and has for some time even before VAR. Unfortunately for Phillips the end result was a full studded follow through onto Flynn's ankle.
  9. Absolutely. How many times have we seen him blaze the ball wide or over the bar when he should have passed? The Livingston game earlier in the season, when he should have squared to Main for a tap in springs to mind.
  10. A fair assessment. I thought you defended really well after the sending off. We prefer teams that try to play out from the back, especially when they're not really good enough to do so. You'd have been better lumping it into the box as you suggested. Look where your goal came from. Ultimately we just don't score enough. As a result whether we finish top six or not is very finely balanced. Without Ayunga and Greive, I doubt we'll make it. Unless Watt goes on some sort of crazy goal scoring spree.
  11. It was the case well before VAR was introduced. Captain Joe's sending off v Ross County, when his follow through, after winning the ball, caught Ross Stewart on the knee was deemed a red card. Think it was the fourth official that spotted it.
  12. Brophy has always been one step, or should I say misstep, away from an injury with us. that's definitely affected his performances for us, although his home scoring form is dreadful and certainly not indicative of a "very capable striker at this level". There's no way Brophy would have been offloaded if we weren't trying to balance the books. There's no way we could have predicted Ayunga and Greive would get injured, hence where we are where we are. Unfortunately Watt is still not match fit and not nearly as sharp as we'd like, as he's clearly an upgrade on Brophy. We can only cross our fingers that he comes good soon. He only has to score once at home mind you to be an improvement.
  13. Given how good he' been all season in midfield, might it be that he was actually playing with an injury, given that he had to be substituted. I do agree that last week's midfield was great in the first half.
  14. There was one near the end where the ball girl at the main stand offered Dunne the ball. He signalled for her to keep the ball and he then jogged about 5 yards back to get the ball that had been kicked out.
  15. Think it was the Hibs game, where the ref was a real stickler for taking throw ins for both teams, exactly where the ball went out of play.
  16. Except for Olyusana, I think all of the signings made pre-season have been top notch. Carson surely has to be one of our best signings.
  17. Of course it is. It's part of our master plan. If referees don't punish it, then why stop? Happy to see it.
  18. I thought the all of the midfield were fantastic in the first half, but Kiltie and Flynn fell out of it a wee bit in the 2nd half. Most likely due to limited game time. O'Hara was superb throughout the game and covered every blade of grass, Definite POTY contender. Main was equally good and Watt is coming onto a game too.
  19. I'm going "Elvis Mk II" every week, if it means we win. Onwards and upwards to our thrashing next week. I thought that Main was superb today. O'Hara covered every blade of grass. Watt, even though he looks as if he's breathing out of his arse after ten minutes, played well too.
