Where did this Olusanya come from?  That's a few goals he has for you now does he not?  How come you never loaned us this one last season?  The Olusanya you loaned us did nothing but dive.

    It's how our team works.

We pick up players that have potential, or have lost their way. Then Robbo and his team then work with them to develop them into players that can play at this level.

Some managers are better than others.

Yes, I noticed you'd red dotted that.

To be clear, there's some Aberdeen fans smugly lording it over us for 90+ minutes. It all blows up in their face and we get to lord it over the specific individuals who had been doing it, as happens in football. Some of them respond by asking us outside for a fight from 50 yards away, in another stand.

Not entirely sure what you're Ricky Gervaising at.

Because he's a tit of the highest order.

The St Mirren home support must be the whiniest support in the country, desperate to claim for anything, had a real chip on their shoulder all match

    Away!

I've never heard an away support cheer every foul they got, as much as your bell end support or boo every decision againsnt.

It's as if it there was as an injustice being perpetrated against you.

Your best effort was while the deserved penalty award was subject to the VAR review.:thumsup2

Sadly for you it was because you are fucking shite.

    Long may it last.

    Eh?

What’s so difficult about changing the parameters of VAR? All it takes is a decision?
If you’re saying you think no one will take that decision that’s fine, but it doesn’t mean that decision can’t be taken and it doesn’t mean VAR is shit as a concept.

Plenty of us disagree because it's quite obvious that it's never going to exist in a format that doesn't degrade the the match day experience and the enjoyment that comes with it.

    We'll agree to disagree.

I’m clearly not doing a very good job of explaining my view because people’s responses are showing that they’re not getting it.
I’ll repeat (for the last time) that my version of how VAR should be applied would give you exactly what you’ve described that you want above.
it would only make decisions based on really obvious errors, in other words to quote your post above “Most of the time you’d be fairly aware of what had happened and that the goal might be chalked off.” This would be the same I.e you’d be thinking, that looked offside like you used to do.
This key to this would be making decisions in say a maximum of 15 seconds which for an obvious offside should be more than doable. Same with penalty decisions and sendings off.
What is VAR in its most basic form. It’s a system designed to stop mistakes being made by officials in football. I fail to see how anyone couldn’t want that. That only leaves its application and therein lies the problem. That’s my point.

We're "getting it" absolutely fine thank you.

You seem to be inventing a VAR system that doesn't exist and never will.

Ok so we’re agreed that VAR is not the problem then 👍

    It is for me.

Before VAR the odd goal was chopped off for an offside or a foul in the box. Most of the time you were fairly aware of what had happened and that the goal might be chalked off. However, for the majority, you could celebrate wildly and generally make a complete tit of yourself.

However, now, because every goal is subject to near forensic scrutiny, I find myself, like many others not being unable to celebrate a goal properly. We're in the ridiculous situation where you're not really sure a goal has been awarded until the ref gives the signal for the opposition to restart the game. By then it's more a sense of relief than elation.

It has taken away a huge part of the enjoyment of attending a game for me.

  7. Dreadful performances from both teams.

We looked like a team of random guys who had met in the pub half an hour before K.O.

We took about three touches to control the ball and were slower than a week in jail going forward.

For all that we were the better team, bar the first 25 minutes or so.

I thought the only player in the starting XI who got pass marks was Hemming, simply because he had virtually nothing to do!

Both Baccus and Olusanya played well when they came on.

I was more annoyed with our abject performance that the tit on VAR missing the penalty.

I'm sort of resigned to VAR ruining the game in some way every time we play. Whether it's a dodgy decision or making us wait to celebrate a goal. It can GTF!

    A fantastic habit to have.

On the other hand we probably haven't come back from many where we have gone behind which is summarised by so few draws.

Livingston, Hibs and Killie are the three games we've conceded first and equalised to gain a point.

Any game other than those we've lost after conceding first. No wins at all.

Our only goalless game was the 0- 0 v Motherwell when O'Hara missed a penalty.

I haven’t seen the goal back yet but looked very soft at the time, if it had been given I suspect we would have gone on to score a couple more as St J were as poor as I have ever seen them and seemed to have no stomach for the fight.
After we scored the atmosphere was great but once it was disallowed it went flat.

To be fair, it did look like a foul, albeit a soft one, on Sportscene. We'd have been shouting for it, if it was against us.

There was contact on Smith's back and his standing leg, without a touch on the ball by Kwon.

A pity, as it was an excellent finish.

Hopefully, he'll be encouraged to do more of that.

With Baccus' impending departure, I wonder if we're trying to get him on loan for next season.

I doubt he's good enough for the green bigots, but he's been great for us so far.

Although by sounds of it, the green bigots will having an end of season clear out of their "dead wood", of which I suspect might include Kwon.

Couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for Trevor Carson as the Sportscene pundits chuckled at his latest error. He's fast becoming a bit of a comedy act in the league, making mistakes we just didn't see in a St Mirren jersey. Might actually cost Dundee a top 6 slot.

Lack of concentration as he's too busy listening to radio commentary of his big team on an ear pod no doubt.

Probably celebrating a goal when he halfed the Hibs player.

I'm with you and would prefer this too. I like Taylor. Yes, he's a bit gung-ho at times but I think he's a better player overall. Would also prefer (because of the nature of our league) three big centre backs - two of whom can also go up and cause bother at set pieces.

As you say, it isn't happening though because the manager wants to play the vice-captain to the point of putting him on his "wrong side" of the three.

The manager explained this at the recent Q & A.

Apparently the stats show that Fraser makes less mistakes in there than both Taylor and Dunne.

With Bolton being such an excellent option at right CH, it makes sense.

Would take St. Johnstone losing the rag like that today if offered. Pretty sure if Clark or May tried that on Gogic their knees would fold backwards.

Was either 9 or 8 you ended up with that day. Including Michael Moore getting sent off then doing a Saturday evening shift in the Buddies bar that night and getting some level of stick for it from the patrons.

Used to be my mate's postman when he lived in Kelburne Drive. He used to rip the piss out of Moore mercilessly.

Agree with you that Bolton should come back in.

Weirdly Fraser seems to make less mistakes on the left side compared to his favoured right side of defence.

Other than that, more of the same with several goals please.

  13. The club should tell them to GTF until they can behave themselves.

I've seen various organisations mentioned who apparently should be taking action to improve their behaviour.

Not yet seen any posts suggesting that their parents might actually take some responsibility for sorting out the behaviour of the individuals involved.

From this afternoon's club statement, it would seem that the club are aware of their cowardly behaviour.

This should be a routine win for a decent St Mirren side if they turn up on the day.

St Johnstone might look organised and have a decent shape but that'll disintegrate if we fall behind (as happened in October) and we really do offer so little going forward.

Main hopes for the day are getting parked easily and not having to stand for 90 minutes.

We did turn up on Saturday against a poor Livingston side, but couldn't score for love nor money.

The fact that we're at home should improve things, but as long as we continue to miss absolute sitters, you have a chance of taking something from the game.

A bit glaikit of me, perhaps, but I have no idea what your logic is for this? 🤔

That guy's all over social media and was featured on the Sportscene results programme! I have also seen claims the he must have personally abused Robinson for him to react like that, but apparently he said the team have no heart. I have seen at least two different names offered for him on Twitter alone. He will have to have plastic surgery and a new identity, lest he's strung up from a lamppost on Greenhill Road!  Not defending him, but I can imagine he was airing his frustrations and Robinson, also frustrated, just snapped.

Personally, I never boo our own players. Maybe if we were to get pumped off Clyde at home in the Cup I might, but everyone has a bad day and this team is exceptional.

Looks like Robinson responded more to the stupidity of the comment rather than anything else. If you watch our team regularly, the one thing that this team most certainly doesn't lack is a fighting spirit.

Now maybe if he'd said that our strikers couldn't hit a coo's arse with a banjo............................

  16. 1 hour ago, Sortmeout said:

We had people booing the team off at half time at 0-0 against Livi two weeks ago, both of our teams are probably just victims of their own recent successes.

You'll get halfwits in every support.

However, our halfwits seem to be "par excellence" when it comes to stupidity.

Of course our strikers and others should have performed better yesterday.

However, the team tried their heart out to win that game yesterday. It just wasn't to be.

As you say, our some of our support have very short memory when it comes to our general performance levels pre Robinson.

Ironically, they'd be the first to jump on any new manager in the event that their brain dead antics drove Robinson out of the club.

Both games against Livingston have been close, so I expect it to be the same. Any kind of win would be a great result.

I wonder if Kwon will come back into the starting line up. I'd be happy enough with either him or Baccus in the middle of the park.

TBH I'd go with Baccus, Kwon and CBM in midfield.

I felt that, at times, the opposition was getting way too much space due to their superiority on numbers in there.

That would mean two up top, but with CBM pushed a bit further forward it might work.

I just think both Baccus and Kwon are too good to leave one of them on the bench, but CBM has been great too and doesn't deserve to be dropped.

Although, having said that, I doubt Robbo will change his system.
