We are crying out for a penalty box striker. Ayunga has his good and bad points. He is better playing with a runner to play off of. Mandron imo is better at holding the ball and has better close control. We have plenty options but no out and out number 9.

We also need the midfield to start chipping in.

Not for the first time in recent weeks, Kiltie fluffed his lines in front of goal, with a header that looked easier to score than miss.

The rest of his play has been great, but..........................................

Respect it's your opinion mate. For me it's the Scottish Cup every Saints fan should be there cheering the team on. It's a one off where our home record is decent. Home fans can help lift the team just my opinion. Hope there is a late rush for home tickets it's about us not Celtic they now have one stand. Seen us beat Celtic in the cup in Paisley with Billy Mehmet penalty. Seen us put Celtic in the semi of the league cup. These days have lived with me as a St Mirren supporter such magic days. Taking my wife and daughter to the game have a feeling we can win this game, outside chance yes but a chance we have. If your a Saints fan give the team your support they have done well by us this season.  As for Celtic fans enjoy your day but not into the quarter finals.

    Oh I'll be there.

However, plenty won't due to the reasons I cited.

It's a pity the shine is taken off such an occasion, but as the football authorities seem to think this type of behaviour is acceptable, then that's the way it's going to be in ties of this kind and any matches against them and their alter egos.

Whatever the result, I know I'll be going home wondering once again how any fan can continue to attend matches whilst their own support indulge in that type of behaviour.

I think Bolton will be a huge miss. On their day, Dunne and Taylor can be good defenders, but both are susceptible to Keystone cops moments.

Baccus will step in for Kwon. Let's hope both he and CBM can last 90 minutes, as without O'Hara and Kwon we're very light in that area.

Think the key will be Mandron roughing up their centre halves as they're both pretty average. If Scott and Tanser can get the ball in early we might reap the rewards.

Would be nice to see Kiltie exhibiting some composure in front of goal, as his play over the past few games has deserved a goal or two.

A refereeing team and VAR team displaying an iota of competence would be welcome too.

It's a clear red card. What part of barreling into an opponent's standing leg doesn't meet the criteria of "endangers the safety of an opponent"?

The actual outcome of the challenge isn't relevant.

There was a challenge in the English premiership almost exactly the same the other night.

    Guess what?

An initial booking, which wasn't changed after a VAR check.

Our referees are, by and large, card happy and incompetent to boot.

This is the way Dundee were against St Mirren the other night.

There's nothing shiter in football than playing a fairly evenly matched side and you can't string two passes together and they're outfighting, outthinking and bodying you all over the pitch whilst you can't even get within 40 yards of having a shot on target.

Been there many times and that Mugabi shot sums up Motherwell's entire night.

The difference between the game against us and St Mirren is that we were just having an off night (hopefully) whereas Motherwell look a bit gutless here.

Morten didn't really have to play particularly well.

I reckon if either yourselves or us had played Morten we'd have won fairly comfortably.

Please excuse my ignorance but can I buy a stream to watch this game tonight if I live in Scotland?  I think I’m correct in saying I couldn’t if it was a Saturday match but are midweek games different?   I’ve no way of getting to the game in time so that’s my only real option.

Not far .to many people think because we beat Hibs (Which was an excellent performance)we will beat a very good Dundee team .

    Where?

All I can see, with the odd exception, is folk praising Dundee and saying that it will be a hard fought, close game.

  7. Whilst matters are cordial..................

I've only ever been to the area of Dundee where the football grounds are.

I've often wondered what the rest of it was like and if it would be a decent place to spend a weekend with the other half.

Given the improvements over the past couple of decades, there must be lots of decent hotels, bars and restaurants.

Go on Dee fans, wax lyrical about your city.

Aaah fair enough. I misinterpreted what was said on Sportsecene.... They definitely indicated it was a foul I thought?

It was another one of those penalties where the player's arm was out from his body and the ball hit it. No intent by the player at all.

A ridiculous award, but these are the rules and we've had several given against us for the same thing.

Deliberate handball to gain an advantage shouldn't be that hard to spot on VAR and that's when a penalty should be awarded, not when a ball is blasted against or deflects onto a player's outstretched "unnaturally positioned" arm from a few feet away IMO.

Looking forward to this game. Out of all the non-OF teams in the league I really admire what Tony Docherty has done at Dundee.

If we were to lose Robbo he’s the guy I’d want us to go for. 😂

I’m a little concerned that some of our supporters may be getting a bit cocky/blasé after those last two away league wins at Aberdeen and Hibs.

Dundee inflicted our worst league defeat of the season and we then went through a particularly difficult and disappointing period of results.

Would be great to get back to winning ways at home in the league.

I believe the last time we won in the league at home was 9th Dec 2023 against Ross County. (2-0)

Would settle for a scrappy 1-0 win.

    OG Carson 😜

    COYS.

    Really?

Did you read our thread after we missed out on signing KVV?

Total gloom and doom, because our squad is apparently weaker than before the transfer window opened.

We were shocking at Dens in the 4-0 pumping. I'm sure the players will remember that.

Both teams seem to be playing some decent football, so hopefully it will be a good watch and a win for us of course.

There’s been more posts on our threads from St Mirren fans about Miovski’s double hit penalty than any other subject.

Strange that we posted on a subject that has since been proven that it was indeed the wrong decision by VAR not to deem the spot kick void.

What has happened to St Mirren match threads? For the first couple of months they were 30/40 pages long with Saints fans rubbing everyone’s noses in their wins. We’re on Page 5 of a game you’ve strolled.

Hibs fans are pretty decent and can take a wind up.

The rest, bar Killie and Livingston fans, not so much.

They like to give it out, but can't take it when the boot is on the other foot.

To be fair Triantis gave away a penalty and was at fault for a goal, Maolida managed to tackle himself and then fall over and Marcondes hardly moved from the centre circle.

Almost like bringing in lots of loan players at once that have 0 connection to the club doesn’t work.

Have to say that I was slightly worried that the substitutions you made at HT would cause a bit of an arse collapse on our part.

However, we effectively went into training game mode and although you definitely put more pressure on us, they didn't stand out as I thought they would, albeit that it was their first outing.

  13. I'm not really sure how well we performed as Hibs were so inept.

Although, even when they changed it in the 2nd half and put a bit more pressure on us, we coped rather easily.

Thought we defended excellently. Bolton in particular looks like a great signing. Hope his injury is a minor one and he was taken off as a precaution.

CBM stepped up to the plate. Best performance from him that I've seen so far in a Saints shirt. Kwon was excellent too.

Thought Mandron gave the best performance I've seen from one our strikers in a long time.

Give him chances in the box and he'll score.

Don't think there was any player that had an off day. Even Dunne was good when he came on.

Hopefully the doom mongers will do one for a while.

As I said elsewhere we're missing our three of our best players.

Always going to be a big ask without them.

If Scott is deemed fit enough, I'd imagine we'll have the same team as last week with CBM replacing O'Hara and possibly Scott, if he's fit enough, in place of Jamieson.

We need to get back into the habit of scoring first. Although even scoring would be helpful.

Mandron in for Ayunga. Otherwise as predicted.

Just heard O’Hara is injured again.

Missing him, Baccus and Strain very far from ideal.

Would bite your hand off for a draw now.

  16. We're currently without our best three players IMO.

Every game without them is going to be extremely challenging.

We have to hope that our newest signings all hit the ground running and that some of our other players up their game.

We need a big performance from CBM tomorrow and whatever strikers are selected simply have to start taking their chances.

Good to be on a club's thread where the support actually focuses on their own team.

There's another on here where we live in their supporters heads rent free.

That is our problem. We simply don't score enough. We have lots of strikers who couldn't hit a barn door etc.

We simply don't create much for our strikers either. be nice if our midfield chipped in with the occasional goal too.

No fussed on missing out on KVV. Too many uncertainties for me.

I think Mellon at Dundee will prove to be a far better signing.

Maybe we'll pull one out of the bag before the window closes.
